  • To Mottisfont & Dunbridge for the returning Dorset Coast Express and I have the place to myself - not so surprising as the earlier drizzle has turned into a downpour, Mercifully Tangmere is dead on time and whistles as the barriers descend. One good thing about a damp day is a great exhaust, As the train disappears the barriers rise and two cars cross in perfect symmetry. A while later at Whitchurch the down stopper - just disappearing - makes me head for the footbridge and somehow I turn off the camera - it's back on in time to catch a throaty Tangmere in a cloud of steam. The young voice says 'I thought steam trains were supposed to be small'

Brilliant. The first clip was superb. Loved the way the smoke and steam hung about. Well done for braving such weather. It's amazing I filmed Tangmere that day at Putney in bright sunlight. All the best.
