- It's a pretty dank Taunton morning (5 September 2010) as 6024 King Edward I squeaking like a rusty swing, arrives with the Torbay Express. An HST rushes past before I head for the footbridge down the line, figuring that such a damp day will result in clouds of steam and an invisible engine in a platform departure. Another HST takes he road south before the King sets off - in clouds of steam, and with a mildly volcanic exhaust.. The locals muse about the old days when the washing got covered in smuts!
Nice to see an almost full rake of Mark 1 coaches... easily the best and most pleasing design ever built in my opinion.
Great footage, especially the departure, but there was something of the bird about that King...sounded like a demented budgie...but what would you expect from the Gets Worse Railway!
Great camera work!!!!

Preserved I suppose - it's a 1920s engine - a King Class from the Great Western Railway - one toured the States and the Baltimore & Ohio modelled some of its engines on her. It was dumped in the 1960s and restored over many years. The train - the Torbay Express - of old style carriages - runs from Bristol to the south coast of England every Sunday in the summer, a good nostalgia trip!.
Excellent video superb departure by the King . Shame about the background chorus lol
