The remnants of this idea is in the CFYOW novel where the reasons for Urahara's research on the Hogyoku, Mod-Souls, and Hollowfication are made clear. His plans were somewhat similar to Aizen's and Tokinada Tsuniyashiro's, but his were the more benevolent plan despite how shady they were.
