I have tried to get soooo many of my friends into reselling, they all think it's a joke or too much work. These are the reasons people struggle financially in America. This video shows if you are open to the idea of HUMBLING YOURSELF (Digging through goodwill bins or even picking up free stuff on the side of the road) HUSTLING (selling old athletic equipment to a used equipment store) NETWORKING (hitting up friends and family for old goods). Then there is no reason you can't scrap up enough money to pay that electric bill or invest that extra money into stocks. I wish this series could be broadcasted on National TV, it would be a gamechanger for so many people.
I have an amazing idea for you. Its orginal, its entertaining, its easy. Tell your viewers to send in pictures of there best thrift store finds with a sentence or 2 explaining what it is, what brand, howmuch they paid. and howmuch sell comps are on it. You could do it like a weekly thing at the end of your video each week. Like "top viewer find of the week" think it would get viewers more involved and people would not want to miss the weekly finds part. I think itd be a huge hit and its orginal.
Ask them to post the finds to twitter with a hashtag and have the audience vote for the best one with likes(?), that way less work for the creator and tags = exposure... p.s I don't actually know how twitter works so correct me if this won't work.
Actually Suzanne A. Wells does that. She has a FB group that posts what they find how much they paid and what it sold for. She picks from the FB group and does videos called eBay $100 Supersize Sales. Great vids to look for BOLOs.
Out of all the resellers I watched, you are the one who just inspired me to do my first Marketplace listing using the shipping option. An item I had listed for a week and had no traction just sold within 10 mins of listing with shipping as an option. 😁
You are the only ebayer that I watch. My best friend and myself decided to take the leap and try our hand at it. We have officially sold 8 items which seems small but we are super excited. Because we have surpassed making $100 lol. Thank you so much for such great content and for the awesome tips!
I guess to some people starting from zero means you go out to the stores naked without any clothes on your body and no car etc. Don’t worry about those haters. This is still a good thing you’re doing.
I guess the one thing missing for total new person is the knowledge you have from years of reselling. But I agree with you 100%! You can do this! It's fun and there are always things around to sell. Start with what you know and what you have experience with. Ask a friend for their future donations, find piles on the street. Check condition like crazy! Reselling is the greatest 'job'!
I really enjoy watching your videos and appreciate that you do not try to ask ridiculous prices. I recently lost my job and my mom has watched your videos for a long time and suggested I watch. Im excited to begin reselling! the ideas/knowledge have given me a lot of hope. Keep up the awesome videos!
Absolutely LOVING this series! So cool to see what you're finding and watch how quickly it sells (simply because you get it listed). That's my main focus this year....list, List, LIST!!! Keep the videos coming!
The Disney tv is selling on Ebay quickly because it's a CRT. Currently with the pandemic, everything gaming related is spiking, this includes CRTs. Because of the 'instant' refresh rate of CRTs people who play retro games prefer to use CRTs for the best experience.
I just made my first ebay sale this weekend starting from scratch with things that I own! Roughing it with shipping materials, waiting for free USPS supplies to arrive later today. I agree, Josh, it's a little ridiculous to expect you to approach this challenge with absolutely no resources, including soap and water. I'm glad that you started with a new, unestablished ebay account though! Props for equalizing!
I love your channel! Your videos are easy to watch without all the "performing" and over-hype like some other resellers. I especially love this 30 day challenge. I've been tossing around the idea of trying this for a little extra income. I've learned a lot already. Thanks, I can't wait until the 30 days is up.
Most people are just miserable and you know what they say misery loves company. Keep up the good work, stay humble. Your awesome Thanks for the motivation. I started my ebay store a month ago and your videos keep me inspired and moving. Thank you again.
Great series so far, I’m looking forward to seeing the rest. I started going through my house and finding all kinds of things to sell. I had to subscribe so I can watch what else you come up with!! 👍🏻
Great stuff Josh!!! I love that you noted Play it Again. Places like that are a good option if you need the money immediately. Just remember that they will pay wholesale so they can sell for retail, but fine if you get it for cheap or free. Can also do this with clothes at Plato's Closet, books etc. at 2nd and Charles and dishes at Replacements.com. Also helps with continuing to flip when you've hit your eBay selling limit. I started unlisting lower profit items to sell higher profit items during that first 90 days.
I think I needed this challenge. I have been stuck at $100 per week. And have felt uninspired to do the hard work that I was doing. But watching this, has helped me to "start a new week" this week. Ty Josh.
How u makin out a year later? I entered this space with a boat load of vigor as well ,just to fizzle and crater not long after. Back at it again. Picked up another clothing lot. Try again.
Nice going, you are doing awesome! I love to see how you set goals and go after them. I've never been good at setting goals and working them but the resellers community is a great place to be and has been very helpful and encouraging me to go after the gold (reselling, lol). As always, thanks for sharing your journey!
Fun series. Great idea, Play it again sports. I have a bunch of new wetsuits/vests that are a hassle to ship and store. Im going to see if they are interested. Also a bike and ski equipment. I never heard of that before but a couple in the area. Thanks for that tip.
Restaurant dumpsters are also great for boxes. I picked up a small stack of boxes that have been perfect for shipping out the items I'm selling right now! They're typically clean, too, because they get food in them which are then in plastic inside the boxes. So all you have to do is rebuild them and they're good to go! My mom brings home bubble mailers from the church where she works which I've also used for some of my items. Also, once you've generated some income, you can get bubble mailers in bulk and they end up being around 30 cents each.
Josh, Love this series(THE WHOLE CHANNEL ACTUALLY. LOL). Keep grinding and hustling. I love your channel because you don't just go and get stuff and show us the listings and sell it. You show us several ways you can do this with little or no money to start. My wife and I have been reselling for about 4 to 5 months now and have got the bug. It's the thrill of what am I going to find today. A couple weeks ago we found some rare corning ware that we made 7 times our money on.
I am really enjoying this series because I would like to start selling soon! I am taking this time to research and learn. Can you please discuss the photography side of selling? It looks like you have a set-up for photos. I think that the photos really matter when someone is considering buying your products. What do you think? Any cheap suggestions on DIY backgrounds? Or lighting? Thanks!!
I'm soOoOoOoo glad I started watching your channel. I've always shied away from ebay because I thought it was just a way to get scammed by people retuning items without just cause. I sold my first item on Jan 5th and I'm at $989 as of right now Feb 9th. I've put maybe $150 of my own money in and I'm only doing this very part time maaaybe 10 hours a week. My best find yet was a pair of clogs that were in like new condition. I paid $1.99 (they charged me flip flop price..) and they sold within a week for 74.99 plus shipping.
Love your videos, I’m always skeptical about buying shoes or hats that need cleaning, but I think you putting a video out if one doesn’t already exist on how to clean certain items would be helpful
Referring to selling items you already own - that is what I thought maybe you did on the first one (am loving this series BTW)...am so impressed! I've subscribed as a result of this.
Big fan from Australia here. Thanks for all the knowledge sharing and inspiration. Love your unique way of pronouncing Balsam as Basaalm. Got me saying it now!
I’m still watching and you have just found the tv but couldn’t list it on eBay. Try Mercari, I saw some sold comps for $120, $180 plus shipping. That was with the speakers.
The check says Josh Barnell. 😆Balsam is pronounced ball sum. 😉 They used to put it in shampo - Wella Balsam - and Farrah Fawcett was in their commercials.
Hi Josh, I heard you say that you had something listed on both ebay and FBM at the same time. What happens if it sells on FBM first? Is there any drawbacks on the ebay account if you cancel that listing? Fees for cancelling? Thanks, Jim
Great video, Josh. I'm always amazed at the number of people who say they need money or want to make more money, but instead of learning and doing the work they spend their time nit-picking and coming up with snide comments while they sit in their mom's basement making zero dollars and zero cents per hour. There's a whole world of opportunity out there, peeps. Get out and get to work on it instead of thinking up reasons why you can't.
Big score today! I stopped at a GW that I never would usually go to but picked up a couple of things off Marketplace nearby and it was right by there so why not. I found in great condition a 1971 Disney Beauty and the Beast Musical Snowglobe with working light up fireplace, there are two on ebay going for over $400! Thanks for all the tips Mr. Tornado :-) I got this for less than $20 invested. Both You and Homeschooling Picker made me go outside my comfort zone and I scored big!
8:30 Smh...you are so right! Some people just have to find a minor thing to say they called you out, lol. Love your attitude man! I am so digging this Playlist, literally taking notes! I'mma make ya proud Josh, lol! Watch, I'll be givng @Hairy Tornado mad shout outs, lol!
❤ Been looking forward to Part 2! Loving this challenge! I see you're drinking my fav! (My fav is 🍎 🍏!) I really enjoy all your videos. TH-cam needs a 💘 button!

No national TV, please! Everyone gets into it, it'd ruin our profit. 😄

GREAT IDEA YES.

That's awesome! I just shipped out my 1st marketplace sale today too.
Thank you for sharing your experience about the shipping.

@TANGENT go on a bike
@TANGENT that sucks
You can get shipping tape at the DollarTree for $1. That's how I started off.
Love this challenge. Unique and interesting content thats inspiring. Also great for Non US based viewers who cant access Goodwills!
You’re getting big brother. A dislike before the video even starts. Haters are jealous of you. YOU MADE IT!!!! 😂
For real though, even the haters got notifications on just to leave a dislike 😂 😂

You really are killing this challenge!! The shoes... Baseball glove, golf bags. Amazing! I am.in awe of your knowledge!!!
I really enjoy watching your videos and appreciate that you do not try to ask ridiculous prices. I recently lost my job and my mom has watched your videos for a long time and suggested I watch. You got a new fan in me! Love this series and it’s incredible. As a college student, gonna for sure start doing some of this!
Us college students have to do this.

This is a very interesting challenge to watch. Love your step by step instructions. Very creative, thank you.
Thanks for another great video Josh! And great product placement with that Chick-fil-A box discretely in the back seat 😂

It's awesome how excited you get during this challenge when you get a sale. 👍 Happy Birthday to your wife! 🎈🎁
Love this challenge!! This is what makes u relatable, because u think about your viewers and what it is that they would like to see from you.
Dollar tree has really good tape for packing. They also sell envelopes and such items for mailing.
Good stuff as always Josh. Unique, smart, original. I never not learn from you.
Wait you’re not living in the woods with a fort you built from twigs and branches? How dare you! FRAUD 😂
😂
Hope ur just joking

Starting from Zero. Some take it literally. Keep up the great work.
I've never seen No Bull shoes. I'll be on the lookout. I've never seen those in the wild! I'm learning different brands...good job Josh!

We bought that pink TV for my daughter in the early 2000s. It came with a DVD player. Super cute 😁
