Any honest way of making a living is a wonderful thing, but I have to admit that I hate the way resellers have caused the thrift stores in my area to hike prices! It seems that they think if YOU can sell if for five time what they sell it for, they can do it too, so prices are going up like crazy! We have tons of Goodwills that get tons of high end items donated, but most of the time the only people I run into shopping there are resellers because prices are too high, sometimes even higher than what the item sold for new in the store!!
It's cyclical. The store gets a new manager, he/she wonders why they can't charge more with all the resellers buying there, so they raise prices. The resellers stop buying and stock piles up, literally. They have to start sending pallets of stuff directly to the outlet store where it only brings $1.20/pound, and senior management tells them to lower their prices and MOVE THE STOCK. Prices come back down. Rinse and repeat. If you are in the business long enough, you will see it happen many times.

I don’t know how close you are to an airport with Southwest, but they are the BEST luggage friendly airline I have encountered. For flying places to search for merch would probably be the most practical. Sometimes it is worth the extra drive just to save of luggage cost. We (my wife and I) travel 4.5 hours from Louisiana to Dallas to fly with them to Pheonix, which is where my wife is from, and check 4 suitcases total, 1 filled with our clothes and 3 empty ones to fill with gifts for our return. Southwest gives 2 FREE checked bags each (as long as you stay in the size and weight limit) AND a carryon and personal item. The only downfall is not being able to choose seats. If you do go this route, research how the seats work for the most comfortable experience, especially when traveling with someone.
You need to rethink your travel plan. Get the largest 2 carry-ons to take with you...one “personal” item that can fit under your seat and one big one for the overhead bins. Then plan to put all your heaviest items in the carryons when you fly home...and see if it’s cheapest then to ship or use a suitcase for your return...but ack light items in this last package to maximize the amount you can get in it! I fly lots....it’s always my best strategy. Love you guys!! You’re both terrific and inspiring

I happen to like the small thrift stores. They are privately owned and usually desperate to make a dollar and normally willing to make a deal to make that dollar. Im curious as to how many people have a thermal printer vs a regular printer. I kinda need another printer for labels and am unsure if I should try the thermal or stick with the regular wireless printer. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Thermal printers save on tape, ink/toner, and time. You can get some used ones for $100 or less (zebra comes to mind). Thermal printers are some of the best investments a reseller can have

I know how to check a remote works. Obviously if your buying from somewhere like that you will have to take your own batteries but if you switch your phone camera on and point the ir towards the camera and press buttons, any buttons you should see it light up blue. It's always been blue with the one's I've checked. The digital camera picks up on colours of the spectrum our eyes can't see. Curious, when you pick up a camera. How do you test it? I just picked up an Olympus Zoom Stylus Epic 170 with good comps. It takes 35mm film. Hey Hairy, got a question I'm not sure you have ever answered before. I sell on Ebay as well as Etsy and was wondering, when you go on vacation, what do you do, cause you have so many days to get the stuff shipped out. Is there a way to close your shop for a week and then reopen it? Any info would be appreciated. Love your videos too.
Everyone has their comfort picks. I never look at shoes, I don’t have enough room for giant items so I resell smalls. Thanks for sharing your time guys! Savers is expensive and goodwill is keeping anything of value now and selling online. They are squeezing us out here in New Mexico.
I buy stuff for me & when Goodwill discontinued jewelry in their store, I was sad. Won't buy online. Need to touch & try on. Also, in my area, they no longer will take furniture or large items starting Dec. 1. Wonder where these items will end up since Goodwill is not an option? St. Vincent de Paul is rather expensive on most items. Got to buy stuff on their sale tag days.

that vacuum was a steal. Electrolux is big money and one of the best vacs going. If not working they are super easy to fix. I've got $325 for a clean used one that cost me $45 with parts and 20 min to repair. I also got another $45 in bags and filters
I never see them for sale. I still have mine from the 70's after I moved out on my own and I wouldn't ever part with it. But I'm always hopeful to find attachments real cheap.
Tim is a beast! 💯I recognize quite a few of those thrifts 👀... amazing finds, you guys!
He's certainly not afraid of shipping! Lol
I’m so jealous you get to have so many DI’s around you at all times 😭😭
@@Osborn2Thrift I've subbed Tim and I have a lot of catching up to do! I hope you show how you ship and how your store stuff. Sorry, if you have and I haven't found it yet but I intend to! You're a superstar! Maybe you can go to South Carolina and visit Josh?!? That would be awesome. Just buy boxes and ship what you buy home. Write off!!! Enjoyed you!
Years ago my husband use to work on electronics for the state and the old parts he was throwing away. I told him he should be selling it. Long story short, he was making 500 to 1000 dollars a week with little time invested.
Are you kidding me? Seriously?!!! Harry Torando came to the 3 thrift stores (the last 3 in this video) that I go to about every day, and I missed you??! I would legit geek out if I looked over and saw you thrifting next to me. 🤯 Hope you enjoyed Utah. And all of the U-turns in Layton. 🤟
Lol we definitely made a few U turns
I’m exhausted! That was an epic thrifting day.....very fun to watch.
IKR? I'm pooped too. What an awesome video. 🌎☮😊
I love point and shoot cameras. Easy to test and work perfect 90% of the time.
A lot of times those 200 disc CD players will have a few slots not work. They get returned a lot.
Appreciate the heads up. Should I sell mine stating not working and for parts? Or just sell locally you think?
You need to rethink your travel plan. Get the largest 2 carry-ons to take with you...one “personal” item that can fit under your seat and one big one for the overhead bins. Then plan to put all your heaviest items in the carryons when you fly home...and see if it’s cheapest then to ship or use a suitcase for your return...but ack light items in this last package to maximize the amount you can get in it! I fly lots....it’s always my best strategy. Love you guys!! You’re both terrific and inspiring
Be careful if they are weighing carry-ons. You also have to be able to lift the carry-on to put in overhead storage.
@@ameliab7245 so true!! Once I found gorgeous Dinner Plates and loaded my carryon with them….huge mistake! All arrived well but I needed a passengers assistance to get the bag up. I fly lots…never have seen my airlines weighing carryons thankfully
You two are fun to watch, it was a great collab. Thank you both for wearing me out at just the thought of shopping that many stores in one day
Josh, you and Tim had too much fun! Great video...thanks for sharing.
O2T is a pretty cool dude! Shoutout to Tim!
I enjoyed this video more than the previous one with Hustle at home mom. It was nice to hear you and Tim talking about some of the things he found.
I only had about 2 hours with Ashley. I had all day with Tim lol.
Oh my gosh that Cookie Shooter! I just picked up a Nordic Ware Cookie Press, very similar, the other day and sold it for $30. Should of saved it for the holidays :P
Thermal printers are some of the best investments a reseller can have
I hope Tim has safe parking for the night with all of those appliances etc. in his car!
Here in the UK, our thrift stores are tiny in comparison, in the 4 nearest towns with about 16 shops in total would all fit into one of your stores.
I must live in the Ghetto cause I can never find things like this in NC
I'm in chicago and feel your pain , what's worked for me is going different times in the day to find out the times they bring out new merchandise and just go at them times .then you will see all resellers and know why you dont find nothing when you go ,gotta be patient nowadays everybody and there mama is reselling .
then move
@@lostintime8651 nOPE i MAKE A LOT OF MONEY TO MOVE WITH MY REAL JOB MAYBE IN 8 YEARS WHEN i RETIRE
Set up fake videos. Most of these buyers have inside people working for them who tell them when good stuff comes in.
Hey ncstateguy we live very close to the NC State area (Raleigh) and my daughter finds great buys at nearby thrift stores. Keep looking!
I am the original thrift store great grandma....I had a friend in Bethany Beach Delaware....they had the best thrift store ever...nothing but rich people with money to throw away....I would fly in...buy cheap suitcases pack them full and fly it back for nothing..ofcourse that was before they started charging per bag...but there is also a cheap alternative to shipping...Greyhound buses...they charge literally nothing...and the storage on the busses is huge and you don't have to travel on the bus to ship...but the thrift store there is fantastic....and the yardsales
I was screaming at the screen every time you said Desert!!!
Lol
Ya, lol! Im glad tim said something. Small thing but....!!
Me too. 🤣
In California we call them Desa-ray Industries 😂
I was doing the same... lol. Sure can tell who is in the know or is from Utah or has family in Utah or has been to Utah.... lol
The Super Shooter - I bet that gets to be "My grandma had one of those..." as the Christmas season nears. This is so great/fun. :)
Recently found Tim's You Tube channel, love his hustle and his video's
Sorels are nice shoes. I love ElectroLux. I have one. Have never seen them for sale. I bought a GPS Gamin thing & couldn't use it. Needed a password & the company wouldn't help me. Goodwill no longer takes returns. I'd love to find a Ninja blender for myself. Still haven't seen any (at Goodwill). We don't have other stores.
SHOUT OUT TIM, King Reseller of Utah! First, cant wait, woot thrift!
Yo love your content....I am from the great state of Georgia your neighbor to the south.....you have inspired me to finally open an ebay account and liquidate some of the stuff I have collected over the years.....you are an inspiration buddy....also love how chill you are about everything.......keep on keeping on brother and keep that peaceful soul that you have. O yea I subscribed after binging like half your vids on youtube....I am an aspiring youtuber myself, but off to a rocky start. Maybe one day I will be thrifting with you but until then I will keep watching your channel and looking for all the helpful tips I can get in the reselling field.
Thanks John! I appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment :)
@@HairyTornado Oh it is the least I can do after all the time and work you put into your videos. I just love the energy you have and the passion comes through in your videos to be sure.
That was a great Video Josh you guys had me laughing fighting over the electronics! 😂😂
I am making $19k-$20k three months but I can see that I can increase much my sales if I start buying things to sell as parts. I left soooo much money on the table by avoiding items for parts... especially Ninja. Just now have 3 Ninja blenders and I'll break them apart tomorrow.
So is Ninja a bad brand to purchase because it breaks and needs parts? I'm thinking of getting a blender for smoothies and am curious.
Josh gotta get that stamina up to keep up with Tim lol. He is a grinder for sure
what is the app you use ???
Looks like y'all had a ton of fun, too. What's a trip without having fun?
I know how to check a remote works. Obviously if your buying from somewhere like that you will have to take your own batteries but if you switch your phone camera on and point the ir towards the camera and press buttons, any buttons you should see it light up blue. It's always been blue with the one's I've checked. The digital camera picks up on colours of the spectrum our eyes can't see. I hope this will help you either check in the shop or at home when it's not working.
The 15 thumbs down are probably from other Salt Lake flippers worried everyone watching this video is going to relocate. Great videos with Tim and Ashley.
Not gonna happen. SLC region is par for the course in terms of thrifting.
Right! Thirst stores in Utah rock
Bro, I found a printer at Goodwill for $99... Sold it next day for $340. Bought another for $30 and they go for $200! Sometimes Goodwill and other thrift stores pay off!!! Usually not as good as estate sales imho, but def worth hitting up on the regular! Good luck to you my friend!
I’m enjoying your “travel thrifting” episodes so much! Thanks for sharing your adventures with us! 🙂 🎲 🍹 🎰

PS- that’s why I fly SW. two bags. And yes, I’ve bought thrifted suitcases to get my picks back to Florida. Or I bring them & I take bubble wrap in the empties to wrap with. 😉
Tim's are pretty awesome. Facts. Great job on the video. Looks like you guys had a good time!
Hey, sometimes I buy remotes because eventually I run into vcrs, or dvd/vcrs and the remote works. Instantly makes the vcr, dvd/vcr quite a bit more valuable.
Bruh i wonder what Tims storage looks like with all these hard goods! Nice vid.
His storage unit is super organized!
awesome video. incredibly informative with the new ideas on what to look for. Looks like a fun day!
What site do you use to look up all these items please?
Tim is a phenom lol had to follow him
Curious, when you pick up a camera. How do you test it? I just picked up an Olympus Zoom Stylus Epic 170 with good comps. It takes 35mm film. Do you actually load with film and take photos to know it is in working condition? This seems extreme. What are the expectations, so I can list it as working, tested? Appreciate any advice you have. I watch daily, love the channel. 😊 Natalie(Pupster Picker)
Great haul video! Well worth the trip!
Your comment about the collectibles case at the Draper Savers was spot on 🤣
I have zero interest in shipping big items. But I loved watching him hunt! I can still learn a lot from that! This was just super fun watching you two. You chose great shoes! I’m headed on a thrifting trip next month and one of my focus’ will be shoes!
Great video!!! neat to see different styles on thrifting with you and Tim !! Thanks!
Tims gotta get himself a van so he can hold all his large hardgoods. Haha 🤣 great video Josh love the reseller collabs!
Osborn2thrift, I watch him often, he is awesome! So are you Josh, thanks for all the content!!
I laughed out loud as you both grabbed for the voice recorders. I was wondering when that would happen.
you was grabbing first snd should have had them all
I just started thrifting for material I make into towels and blankets. I think I’ll check out the electronic section.
"I went thrifting in Utah and all I found was these under armour shirts" lol
"and then Tim laughed at me"
@@mamawithacameralori 🤣 #ShoutOutTim
Never see them before... Another BOLO for me 😉
Lol no brought every shoe in the state why lol
Hey Hairy, got a question I'm not sure you have ever answered before. I sell on Ebay as well as Etsy and was wondering, when you go on vacation, what do you do, cause you have so many days to get the stuff shipped out. Is there a way to close your shop for a week and then reopen it? Any info would be appreciated. Love your videos too.
He once said you can put your store in vacation mode
Change all your handling times to however many business days you need to be away. That way you can still making sales while on vacay.
Those gdefy shoes are gravity defy they are an orthodic shoe
I never heard of these shoes before, will need to try a pair on.
How ironic that you found those Gdefy shoes. Hustle at Home had them in the video I watched this morning. She got them Yard Saling.
I saw that! That's the only time I've ever seen them
My mom bought me a pair and my knee is telling me thank you everyday
@@HairyTornado apparently it’s a Western brand??? I live in Fl. Never heard of them.
Thanks for the new TH-camr to binge. I just started my own channel. Having Hairy Tornado plug my channel-life goals. 😉
@@cherylhinton3750 Same here. Never heard of them either
Gotta love how Hairy is getting the butters while tim is pulling out the whole roast 😆🥰🥰🇨🇦
I’m surprised at the prices Tim can get on those things !
your show is addicting. i love tim's personality. now i'll have to watch his show too. lol
