RIP Miichael. I grew up listening to you music. I used to stand in the mirror with my hair brush, singing your music. . I guess God needed you more , up there. You are truly amazing.

Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, And my beloved James Ingram knocked this absolutely Amazing Song out of the ball park and keeps going beyond infinity This song is a mainstay for generations to come The phenomenal Unbelievable talent of ALL these singers are considered to be the BEST IN WORLD FOR A REASON...WE ARE THE WORLD.ONE OF THE BEST IF NOT THE BEST SONG EVER WRITTEN THANK YOU HARRY BELAFONTE AND MICHAEL JACKSON AND ALL THE SINGERS FOR BRINGING THE WORLD TOGETHER..EVEN IF IT WAS A BRIEF MOMENT IN TIME
I have watched this many many times. Not only is it magical, but one of the finest work from God given talents and is lost in present day music. I tear up every time when I see so many that have slipped away, and those who are no longer performing. I hope this recording never goes away and is preserved because it lends itself to a sweeter gentler time and I sincerely hope those who have passed on are singing together in a better place. Micheal Jackson I will always love you.
Probably the greatest collection of artist, that has ever sung a note in his/her life, coming together to create such a beautiful song. Mad respect to all those involved
I'm 26 years old, my mom used to put this song on my house when I was a kid, but I never got the chance to see the video because I thought it would not make a difference from what I've been hearing all the time... until now, I'm in tears... and so happy
Bruce Springsteen Cyndi Lauper Stevie Wonder Bob Dylan Ray Charles..and off course the BOSS himself Michael Jackson ♥ Damn what a touching song and why oh why is music like this no more.. God why 😢😢
Sorry, but I believe the talent and the heart isn't into it today as it was then. I was 17 yrs old when this came out and I thought it was great then. After watching it now I can't believe how powerful this is. These artist put their every bit of soul into this! I don't see it with today's entertainers.
What an exceptionally beautiful song. Apart from the obvious things like the genuine emotion that's coming through and the incredibly powerful lyrics, I especially love how every voice is so different from the next and beautiful in its own way, you don't find that variety anymore. And I get goose pumps every time Bruce Springsteen raises his voice and just at any new voice joining in. What an amazing piece of art.
I'd rather listen to these artists unlike today's so called artists. I get it the younger generation grew up with the new artists but these people in the original song are leagues better.
I remember the day this was televised back in '85. I was a young mom with 2 wee boys, and I thought it was a beautiful effort for the many talented artists to contribute their voices to this cause. I loved it when the producer Quincy Jones said, "check your egos at the door". Thank you for sharing this video "SilentVoyager94.
These days all singers care about are the appearances and showing off there body in this video there are so many talented people and they only need to use their voices to impress people. This is and amazing video and it has such a meaningful lyrics.
thanks for sharing with the 'footnotes' & though asked to 'leave their egos at the door' .. thanks for artists' names .. great song & great gathering of singer/songwriters
For all of the children who are victims of terrible natural disasters and horrible man-made wars, today I hope that we who are the world can help to make your days brighter and happier. You deserve it.
I am reading this thread and cannot help but to wonder, is it possible for us to just stop our ignorance and stupidity, check ourselves to see if our petty actions are contributing towards any matter that is good or valued? What are these ugly comments stemming from? The artists came together and sang a song and there is a powerful message that even now, resonates and drifts in time. Through much effort from my generation and our philosophy that 'we can make a difference' and that 'we will change the world,' our world has changed for the better or worse. Our generation has sprouted a new generation, a frightened but a brave generation. Look at your children; yes, they are rather different than our generation. But they are the product of us and the message this song has been ringing in deft ears has come to ring in theirs. Please take a moment prior to making condescending remarks and bashing one another on the border of cruelty...each and every word strung together can heal or haunt someone. We all bleed, ya know and we all die. Can we spread this song around one time time with the human heart while we still can call ourselves human.
Stevie Wonder is really singing his glasses off on the parts with Bruce Springsteen. His parts were ALWAYS & still are my favorite parts of We Are The World.
Exuse my language. But what the fuck are you disslikerse doing? Why the fuck disslike something beautiful as this.. This is the best thing the most amacing artists can ever do. Unite and show some love and make most people forget anything then listening to a great, otherswise the best song in the world.. Thank you all so much! This is just too great!
Alright so they took care of Africa (I bought the single to help), now it is time for us to look in our own back yards and help the poor, hungry, and homeless people right here in our own country. I have been sustaining a homeless man throughout this last winter. I would like to see others following my lead.
There comes a time when we heed a certain call When the world must come together as one There are people dying And it's time to lend a hand to life The greatest gift of all We can't go on pretending day by day That someone, somewhere will soon make a change We all are a part of God's great big family And the truth, you know, Love is all we need [Chorus:] We are the world, we are the children We are the ones who make a brighter day So let's start giving There's a choice we're making We're saving our own lives It's true we'll make a better day Just you and me Send them your heart so they'll know that someone cares And their lives will be stronger and free As God has shown us by turning stone to bread So we all must lend a helping hand [Chorus] When you're down and out, there seems no hope at all But if you just believe there's no way we can fall Well...well...well Let's realize that a change can only come When we stand together as one
You know, I was almost 15 years old when this song was released. I will be 49 this year and hearing that song now, still today, gives me goosebumps. To have singers from such a wide variety of genres come together for a common good was awesome then and would be awesome now. Check the egos and problems at the door, and truly do something that would benefit humanity...
The best song EVER in the history of the humanity. and many many thanks to all the dozen USA for Africa artists, God bless all, this music still going strong even after 3 decades, many thanks from Ethiopia.......
2:00 "As God has shown us by turning stone to bread..." If you write a song now (2016) with this lyric in the US, people will flip up and down saying this is extremely divisive and offensive! This lyric certainly will not survive and the person who wrote it will be fired and will have to look for another job. This is how the world has changed only after 30 years or so. So much for "we are the world"...
As usual, the originals are ALWAYS the best. Better than that crappy remake that's for damn sure. If Quincy--or whoever the hell's idea to do the remake--had any common sense, they should have reused the original recording artists (who are still alive) for the 2010 version. Then I probably would have felt the love and emotion as I do in this 1985 version. No disrespect for those who loved the remake; but I just wasn't feelin' it. I thought it was total crap. Wonder what Michael would have thought if he heard it.....
I totally get you. Those were my exact thoughts. It just didn't have ad much...genuine emotion in it. It didn't seem real...almost like they just wanted to get paid or whatever. I was wondering why none of the original artist were there...when I heard Lil Wayne sing I gave up on trying to like the new version.
Agreed 100%. It goes to show the music industry has changed, most artists of this generation are not like they were in the 80s. This song is full of power and emotion, the remake is not ^^
Wow Hollywood this was one of my favorite songs back in the day Lol...I really didn't expect you to know but at 2:02 you are mistaken. God never turn stone into bread that was merely a statement satan made to temp Jesus knowing He was hungry from His Fast... That never happen... It's ok I still Love You just as God does... Everyone has such beautiful voices...
Hodgoo suarez Don't be a douche just because you can. Either have a little respect and let people enjoy their inalienable right to believe in whatever they want to without discrimination, or else prove to me beyond the shadow of a doubt that God doesn't exist and I'll retract my comment. And although you don't believe in Him, I'll still pray that God blesses you. Have a nice day!
I like how you labled most of the chorus singers, but I haven't found a video yet where they label everyone in the group. I am not still sure who each person 100% is. like I think 2 or 3 other Jackson's are in there besides Latoya and tito, there is a lady in the front row with sunshades on that keeps holding the mic to her ear/throat I don't know she is, and I think the pointer sisters are in this and tey are not labled, there is a black guy in the middle front or 2nd row, not sure who he is either. but this is pretty awesome
Jesus Christ, literally EVERY music legend at that time is part of this song. Only ones I can think of who weren't there were Prince and Madonna. This is a moment that will never be duplicated.
I WISH PEOPLE REALLY WOULD COME TOGETHER AS ONE. I SAY HI TO PEOPLE CONSTANTLY AND THERE'S NO REPLY. PEOPLE AROUND THE WORLD IN GENERAL KNOW AMERICANS ARE GOING THROUGH A HARD TIME WITH CORRUPT LEADERS. IT'S NOT US THEY'RE ANGRY WITH. IT'S SAD ...THE BICKERING BETWEEN PEOPLE BECAUSE OF FAITH, RACE, ETC. GOD, OR WHATEVER YOUR NAME IS FOR HIM CREATED THE UNIVERSE(S) WITH ALL THE CONSTALLATIONS AND ALL BEINGS. ONENESS AND LOVE ARE THE ANSWER I BELIEVE.
30 years later and I still can't watch this video without crying. I loved being a teenager in the 80's! :)

For all of the children who are victims of terrible natural disasters and horrible man-made wars, today I hope that we who are the world can help to make your days brighter and happier. You deserve it.
This group of singers was the best ever at that time, still is the best, and forever will be the best.
Yes, U R Right !
Agreed
You know who would've been great on this?
*Freddie Mercury*
And Prince.
This was the more " American " version than " Do They Know It ' s Christmas ? " . So Freddie if anything would ' ve been on this songs predecessor .
I know this is 3 years old but Paul McCartney would've been great too
Ethan Jensen understand that the group consists of american singers only
Good job you said singers... Phil Collins is on this and hes a brit.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I have seen the video for years and never knew who all the singers were. You have made my day.
The song that not gets old. it is great
Stevie Wonder is really singing his glasses off on the parts with Bruce Springsteen. His parts were ALWAYS & still are my favorite parts of We Are The World.
Yeah, that duet is amazing!

When Bruce sings, it's electrifying
literally.
There is a mistake. Dan Akoroyd is Hary Belafonte
There's one more mistake: the way you spelled Dan Aykroyd
oh I didn`t knew it. My father told me that there is a mistake. I also didnt knew Dan Akroyd before so sorry for the wrong spelling
happy weekend to you all
Felix Farwick
Yeah, although Dan Aykroyd WAS in the choir
@@jaelie8398 Yes, right next to Harry Belafonte, Felix only had to wait for camera to pan over in half a second, LOL!
I was a senior in high school when this came out. An amazing time to be teenager.
Bruce's voice ❤️😍

Thanks for putting the artists' names in. I recognized the voices but could not place it. Wonderful song, this is amazing.
Alright so they took care of Africa (I bought the single to help), now it is time for us to look in our own back yards and help the poor, hungry, and homeless people right here in our own country. I have been sustaining a homeless man throughout this last winter. I would like to see others following my lead.
Barbara Moles I would but there aren't homeless people in my town. I also don't have my own house, so..
There are homeless people everywhere. They are in my town and all of the surrounding areas.
There comes a time when we heed a certain call
When the world must come together as one
There are people dying
And it's time to lend a hand to life
The greatest gift of all
We can't go on pretending day by day
That someone, somewhere will soon make a change
We all are a part of God's great big family
And the truth, you know,
Love is all we need
[Chorus:]
We are the world, we are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So let's start giving
There's a choice we're making
We're saving our own lives
It's true we'll make a better day
Just you and me
Send them your heart so they'll know that someone cares
And their lives will be stronger and free
As God has shown us by turning stone to bread
So we all must lend a helping hand
[Chorus]
When you're down and out, there seems no hope at all
But if you just believe there's no way we can fall
Well...well...well
Let's realize that a change can only come
When we stand together as one
You know, I was almost 15 years old when this song was released. I will be 49 this year and hearing that song now, still today, gives me goosebumps.

HeavenlyLove47 Exactly!
Agreed 100%. It goes to show the music industry has changed, most artists of this generation are not like they were in the 80s. This song is full of power and emotion, the remake is not ^^
***** Thank you. And I agree with you as well. The music industry has changed dramatically, defintely not what it used to be. Sad.
They put there heart and soul into this song . you have the greatest artist of all time ... What a great job
Aww, Michael have the sweetest voice here❤️❤️❤️
Wow Hollywood this was one of my favorite songs back in the day Lol...I really didn't expect you to know but at 2:02 you are mistaken. God never turn stone into bread that was merely a statement satan made to temp Jesus knowing He was hungry from His Fast... That never happen... It's ok I still Love You just as God does... That is so true... Like has anyone read the bible these days?
at 2:02 they're mistaken, in this comment you're mistaken as 'god' never existed

I don't know every one. But the lady in the shades is none other than Whitney Houston!
Whitney's debut album was released after this was recorded, the lady in the shades is Sheila E.
Jesus Christ, literally EVERY music legend at that time is part of this song. Only ones I can think of who weren't there were Prince and Madonna. This is a moment that will never be duplicated.
