Learn how I created an edge banding trim for my IKEA countertop. Some tips. Always saw countertop from back side this allow you to create better cut. Edge trimmer used in the video: amzn.to/3VGsUFp
Looks great. I was just in ikea in Dublin Ireland looking at their worktops and the edbacken looked terribly installed!! Corners not edged properly, joins were terrible etc!
Does tape really stop the laminate from chipping up when cutting with a skill saw thought you had to turn the worktop upside down. I need one of those yellow cutting tools
He used contact cement (also called contact adhesive). I wouldn't recommend much else because this adhesive activates when the two faces are brought together and pressure is applied. Most other adhesives I can think of require time to cure which isn't ideal for edge banding.
Would cutting like this work with old laminate/pressed wood countertops? I think keeping a straight line might be impossible. Maybe adding the edge bands and filling the gaps with wood glue after cutting? I always feel like my projects are from the mind of Frankenstein!
I just did this today and wish I had that yellow cutter. I used a palm router with 1/8" round over and finished with a fine grit palm sander
Dude. I started coughing just watching you cut that stuff with no respirator.
Using a screw driver instead of sandpaper is what I will do from now on...Thank you...
