I have regular campers in my fields and some 'bug out groups' too with their vehicles in the woodlands, very nice respectful people who regard the countryside as something to cherish...so a big thank you to all you people who have this great attitude...never had an issue with rubbish and any 'damage' to tracks have always been rectified.

Yes that’s a good idea , they do have a thin base . We only got to use the Lanshans for one night in the end but I still think they are a great tent and amazing for the money . Annoyed they’ve just brought out a green one though after just getting ours lol.Cheers . Austin and Lucy.

You can buy a 4 season inner for these 3f ultralights ,I Used mine in winter on scafel pike and helvellyn and old man of coniston in depths of winter...just lower headroom to reduce draft.
We’ve seen those and been tempted but we’re just not confident enough in them for deep winter. We went out to the Beacons a couple of weeks ago and even though it was windy they performed superbly 👍. A little noisy inside but I guess we’ve been spoilt with the Quasar. Hats off for your camp, bet the white ones look great in the snow. Certainly can’t fault them for the money still. Cheers . A+L.

Yes , it'll be just the two of us , we fly out next Monday and head straight to the Sierra Nevada National Park and into the mountains for four nights .The plan is to walk to the summit of Mulhacen at 3500m and take in a couple of other peaks whilst camping along the way. Lucy is looking now but you may have to search AliExpress as it may be a different seller and different branding but the tent is identical. I’ll upload a link if she finds it 👍 oh and the 4 season inner may be worth a punt for cooler spring/autumn camps.
Wow! the 3F UL Gear Lanshan 2 looks amazing! I have just been reading about it. What a good deal! Some good things said about it online too. Cutting down on the weight of the "Big 3" is certainly a great way to lighten the load. From what I've read and from looking at yours and another video on TH-cam real quick, the Lanshan is a double wall silnylon tent, different from the Zpacks single wall cuben fiber tent. Though I am not familiar with it, they say it is a modified copy of the SMD Tarptent Haven with the net inner tent. Looks fantastic!! Just over 2lbs. For under $100 USD, it cannot be beat! I could see the wind blowing your tents, and I thought (even before you mentioned it) that you probably could feel every breeze. It takes some getting used to. Awesome to see Marley again! He is looking great! Just throw him his stick for heaven's sake! The Handi Rice looks delicious.Very similar to some options we have here. So lucky to have groups like the South Downs Society. The countryside in the South Downs is just incredible. What amazing scenery. You are so fortunate to get to experience it. Looks like the temps were not too bad there. Happy hiking!!
It’s incredible value for money for a summer tent is the Lanshan . When we first got them we left one in the garden for two days of rain and not a single drop made it inside 👍 . At £80 it wouldn’t matter buying one a year. Just wish ZPacks did a double wall version to cope with the extra damp over here. The breeze is lovely in the tent on a hot night and having had a play now you can virtually lower it to the floor if it’s really windy and raining. Marley loved every minute as usual and we just had a fantastic to nights in Snowdonia with him . We even managed to watch the World Cup on the summit! Cheers.Austin and Lucy.

Just got back from lake crafant ...near Conway....had a great couple of days .....I can recommend it ...first night was only one around ...and views from top end of the lake were stunning ....

Hi Max , yes the tents are a copy of the Zpack Duplex but weigh about twice as much. The main difference other than it being a double skinned tent is it cost £80 compared to over £500 for the Zpacks. I’d still like a Cuben fibre one though 🙄 It just wouldn’t be British not to get some rain lol . Cheers . Austin and Lucy.
For that kind of difference in price I would gladly carry the additional weight and do with my "copy" budget tent. Yes I suppose you have to expect rain for it truly to be British!!
Wow look at that weather, not only good fitness training for Spain but getting used to the sun as well, double win. Nice...like the cinematic drone shot at the beginning. Those Chinese tents look Tardis like. Appeared tiny on the outside and big inside! Not sure about the colour for wild camping though? A bit conspicuous. Do they come with poles or do have have to use walking poles? Looks like Marley could do with a summer trim!
Haha. They stick out like a sore thumb don't they.Can you believe they have just released a green version recently! Fortunately the Spanish are fine with wild camping with just a few basic guidelines but not so good for this country. You use both poles to hold them up so that could be an issue if you damage one on the hike but apart from that they're pretty good especially for the money.It's the room that swung it for me . Another great vid! Austin can you or your viewers gave me some advice. Will be going down to Snowdonia in July, which route to take up on to Mount Snowdon? Not a expert so Crib Goch is a no no. I have 2 kids aswell ( 9 and 11) who are keen walkers. Thanks in advance...PS. Where to park cos i know its a nightmare around there.
Hi Johnny, if you don’t mind a tiny bit of scrambling then I’d go for the Pyg track. It’s the most popular route from Pen y pass car park . It gets quite steep and rocky in the last section and the kids will love it. The Miners track is a little easier to start with but joins the Pyg track at the steep part , both leave from Pen y Pass. Either way the views are spectacular. Parking is a nightmare as you say so the safest bet is to park at the big car park down in Llanberis and take the Sherpa bus up to Pen y pass. The road that leads down to Beddgelert has lots of space but get there early and definitely get a ticket as the warden visits regularly. If you want a longer quieter route then the Rangers Path is a good one , very open with a loose steepish ending and a lot quieter. If you need any more info just let us know . Cheers. Still can't believe i fell in lol. If you start at the same place we did then you can take the left path up and around the lake and the views are stunning! It meets the gully we scrambled up from the left .I wouldn't go up the way we came down as it's a killer lol. Alternatively there is the Pony Track which climbs the opposite side , we have never taken this route but i believe it's a little easier but check first as i'm not 100% sure. Cheers .👍

Go for it . It really is very common for people to camp along the Downs and we’ve never had any problems . The only thing to bother you is the badgers and owls . Take a friend along and you’ll have a great time 👍. Cheers . Austin and Lucy.
Must admit it was so warm the slight breeze coming through the door sides was lovely and you can lower your poles to make it sit lower but it is definitely a summer only tent for us . We’re going to take them to Spain in a couple of weeks and the only thing that worries us a bit is if it’s really windy as we’ll be camping at 2500- 3000m. Hi Mark , the first place I’d look is on the Sport Pursuit website. You have to ‘sign up’ which is simply an email address and password and you’re sure to find a bargain.At the moment they have boots from the makers Ecco, Alpine Pro, Bestard (my favourite) , Keen and Columbia. All are waterproof and good quality and with a budget of £100 you should be able to get a pair worth 150-200. Some are only available in certain sizes though so always check the size chart . Also, as it’s a bulk buy company delivery is sometimes around 3 weeks but it’s well worth the wait for the savings. Flash sales appear daily and are well worth keeping an eye on as well. Sorry I can’t be more specific but I’ve had my two pairs of summer and winter Bestard boots for a couple of years now and it looks like they’ll last forever so I’m not really up to date on what’s available. Unfortunately you have caused me an issue with your cooking skills as Mrs C only ever gets dehydrated packs but now insisting on sausage rolls, your setting me up to fail guys..............LOL
Haha, must admit we mostly use the dehydrated ones for the weight or we eat a lot of cans of chilli and boil in the bag rice . Hopefully we’ll have another good summer so with lighter packs we’ll hopefully get a bit more adventurous on the cooking side 👍. Happy hiking. A+L.

They cost £80 each from AliExpress but are still great value and weigh in at 1.1kg.The only thing i'd change is the stupid toggle system that holds your door shut when it's windy. we consider 3F ul Gear to be the premiere 'Chinese copy' brand as the build quality for the money is amazing . You can also get a winter inner for £32 that is draft proof.We'll see how they do in Spain just hope its not too windy .Cheers. That first hill is always a killer. Just below that hill from Washington are a load of lime burners I guess that date back to Victorian times.

Yes , it'll be just the two of us , we fly out next Monday and head straight to the Sierra Nevada National Park and into the mountains for four nights .The plan is to walk to the summit of Mulhacen at 3500m and take in a couple of other peaks whilst camping along the way. Thanks Lezley , the water stops are brilliant and although i said they were every 10 miles there is actually one only 21/2miles further on and most of the water troughs have stopcocks as well so water is no problem. Cheers . Austin and Lucy.

Wow! the 3F UL Gear Lanshan 2 looks amazing! I have just been reading about it. What a good deal! Some good things said about it online too. Cutting down on the weight of the "Big 3" is certainly a great way to lighten the load.
From what I've read and from looking at yours and another video on TH-cam real quick, the Lanshan is a double wall silnylon tent, different from the Zpacks single wall cuben fiber tent. Though I am not familiar with it, they say it is a modified copy of the SMD Tarptent Haven with the net inner tent. Looks fantastic!! Just over 2lbs. For under $100 USD, it cannot be beat!
I could see the wind blowing your tents, and I thought (even before you mentioned it) that you probably could feel every breeze. It takes some getting used to.

The countryside in the South Downs is just incredible. What amazing scenery. You are so fortunate to get to experience it. Looks like the temps were not too bad there.

It’s incredible value for money for a summer tent is the Lanshan . When we first got them we left one in the garden for two days of rain and not a single drop made it inside 👍 . At £80 it wouldn’t matter buying one a year. Just wish ZPacks did a double wall version to cope with the extra damp over here. The breeze is lovely in the tent on a hot night and having had a play now you can virtually lower it to the floor if it’s really windy and raining. Marley loved every minute as usual and we just had a fantastic to nights in Snowdonia with him . We even managed to watch the World Cup on the summit! Cheers.Austin and Lucy.

Just got back from lake crafant ...near Conway....had a great couple of days .....I can recommend it ...first night was only one around ...and views from top end of the lake were stunning ....

Hi Max , yes the tents are a copy of the Zpack Duplex but weigh about twice as much. The main difference other than it being a double skinned tent is it cost £80 compared to over £500 for the Zpacks. I’d still like a Cuben fibre one though 🙄 It just wouldn’t be British not to get some rain lol . Cheers . Austin and Lucy.
For that kind of difference in price I would gladly carry the additional weight and do with my "copy" budget tent. Yes I suppose you have to expect rain for it truly to be British!!
I put a clothes line in the top of my lanshan, just used two blake's hitches to keep it tight.

Wow look at that weather, not only good fitness training for Spain but getting used to the sun as well, double win. Good to see Marley out again and to be fair, you both getting some sun, after all the cold weather camping you have done. Yes, the pigs were lovely....bit of red sauce, an egg, couple of sausages and some mushrooms bootafull lol. It was great to feel the sun on our backs for a change . Nice...like the cinematic drone shot at the beginning. Those Chinese tents look Tardis like. Appeared tiny on the outside and big inside! Not sure about the colour for wild camping though? A bit conspicuous. Do they come with poles or do have have to use walking poles? Looks like Marley could do with a summer trim!
Haha. They stick out like a sore thumb don't they.Can you believe they have just released a green version recently! Fortunately the Spanish are fine with wild camping with just a few basic guidelines but not so good for this country. You use both poles to hold them up so that could be an issue if you damage one on the hike but apart from that they're pretty good especially for the money.It's the room that swung it for me . Another great vid! Austin can you or your viewers gave me some advice. Will be going down to Snowdonia in July, which route to take up on to Mount Snowdon? Not a expert so Crib Goch is a no no. I have 2 kids aswell ( 9 and 11) who are keen walkers. Thanks in advance...PS. Where to park cos i know its a nightmare around there.
Hi Johnny, if you don’t mind a tiny bit of scrambling then I’d go for the Pyg track. It’s the most popular route from Pen y pass car park . It gets quite steep and rocky in the last section and the kids will love it. The Miners track is a little easier to start with but joins the Pyg track at the steep part , both leave from Pen y Pass. Either way the views are spectacular. Parking is a nightmare as you say so the safest bet is to park at the big car park down in Llanberis and take the Sherpa bus up to Pen y pass. The road that leads down to Beddgelert has lots of space but get there early and definitely get a ticket as the warden visits regularly. If you want a longer quieter route then the Rangers Path is a good one , very open with a loose steepish ending and a lot quieter. If you need any more info just let us know . Cheers. Still can't believe i fell in lol. If you start at the same place we did then you can take the left path up and around the lake and the views are stunning! It meets the gully we scrambled up from the left .I wouldn't go up the way we came down as it's a killer lol. Alternatively there is the Pony Track which climbs the opposite side , we have never taken this route but i believe it's a little easier but check first as i'm not 100% sure. Cheers .👍

Go for it . It really is very common for people to camp along the Downs and we’ve never had any problems . The only thing to bother you is the badgers and owls . Take a friend along and you’ll have a great time 👍. Cheers . Austin and Lucy.

Must admit it was so warm the slight breeze coming through the door sides was lovely and you can lower your poles to make it sit lower but it is definitely a summer only tent for us . We’re going to take them to Spain in a couple of weeks and the only thing that worries us a bit is if it’s really windy as we’ll be camping at 2500- 3000m. Hi Mark , the first place I’d look is on the Sport Pursuit website. You have to ‘sign up’ which is simply an email address and password and you’re sure to find a bargain.At the moment they have boots from the makers Ecco, Alpine Pro, Bestard (my favourite) , Keen and Columbia. All are waterproof and good quality and with a budget of £100 you should be able to get a pair worth 150-200. Some are only available in certain sizes though so always check the size chart . Also, as it’s a bulk buy company delivery is sometimes around 3 weeks but it’s well worth the wait for the savings. Flash sales appear daily and are well worth keeping an eye on as well. Sorry I can’t be more specific but I’ve had my two pairs of summer and winter Bestard boots for a couple of years now and it looks like they’ll last forever so I’m not really up to date on what’s available. Haha, must admit we mostly use the dehydrated ones for the weight or we eat a lot of cans of chilli and boil in the bag rice . Hopefully we’ll have another good summer so with lighter packs we’ll hopefully get a bit more adventurous on the cooking side 👍. Happy hiking. A+L.

Thank you , it was great to enjoy the sun and to try out the new tents. They cost £80 each from AliExpress but are still great value and weigh in at 1.1kg.The only thing i'd change is the stupid toggle system that holds your door shut when it's windy. we consider 3F ul Gear to be the premiere 'Chinese copy' brand as the build quality for the money is amazing . You can also get a winter inner for £32 that is draft proof.We'll see how they do in Spain just hope its not too windy .Cheers. Austin and Lucy. p.s We know Nath loves his tarps and we've just got a great copy of the MLD trailstar and it's brilliant , only weighs 600g and cheap as chips on AliExpress 👍
