Thanks Graham, it is quite a nice little spot. It does seem to be on a cow thoroughfare though, as I have woken up surrounded by cows in the past. This might be a summertime thing though, as perhaps the Cows don't go up onto the Downs ridge in the winter months. I heard some mooing of cows early in the morning, but it was hard to tell how far away they were.
I strangely enjoy watching your camping videos as much as your astronomy ones John. What amazes me is how you manage to lug all of that camping gear up the hill! At least you still found room for the obligity bottle of Vino 🍷😊
Glad you like the camping stuff too Mark 🙂. I weighed my rucksack before I left and it was 15.5 kg which is a bit heavy. However luxuries like wine make all the difference to a camp 🤣

I have similar equipment to you and noticed you used a Rab ascent 500 sleeping bag on this trip. I know you have/had the leviathan sleeping bag which is what I use in the winter. How do they compare for winter use? Thanks Keith
Glad you enjoyed it Keith 😊. Normally at this time of year I would expect to use the Leviathan bag. However, I have found this to be too warm when the temperature is above 4 or 5 degrees. On this trip, it was probably 8 deg minimum, so the Rab ascent 500 was a better option, as its comfort value is 1 degree. I reckon on using the Leviathan if the temp is 4 degrees or below, and the Rab if it is between 5 and about 12 degrees..
