Join us as we head out for a wild camp for the first time in an age.Out on the Ebikes again we spend the night under a tarp on the SDW. One things for sure, it was brilliant to get back out there!

Blowy old day but looks like those hedgerows helped a bit and a nice ride to the pub. Sounded like the sea bass really did go down well lol but think I would have binned it at those prices 🙀😡. Good to see the wind died down in the night allowing a good nights sleep. To be fair, you could not pay me to go abroad at the moment and I am all for buying and supporting Britain. I hope the North Wales and Scotland trips go well, we will be doing both next year, when I retire for good, cheers Alan
Hi Alan, yes , a bit of a shocker the prices down this way and the wages don’t match at all . Wales was ace and Scotland has been great so far . We’re on the west coast at the moment and loving every minute 👍. Then off to the lakes for a couple of days so we’re making the most of the van 🏴🏴🏴

I cant tell you how much I enjoyed this video.At 54, my e-bike was a game changer for me as well and I bike tour as much as I can....im so happy to see you both bike-packing! Your talent for telling the story and bringing us along is amazing, I feel like im on a trip with a few friends lol...great job and I look forward to the next one.

i have come late to this video but enjoyed it because i have walked and e biked most of the South Downs Way. Great memories. As a fellow van camper I might mention that the Cocking car park where you parked up is an ideal spot for wild camping. Also I have a suggestion to resolve your problems with kissing gates and the like - apply the rear brake and pull the bike up from behind so it is sitting vertically on its rear wheel and then just release the brake and roll the bike on its rear wheel through the gate.
Thank you but you honestly couldn’t fit a child’s bike through those gates they were so small . I think this was a walking path from the village to meet the SDW so I don’t think we were meant to be on it really 🙄

Had my 50th birthday in July during this COVID quarantine. Definitely not a great time to celebrate. Was going to backpack for a week! Maybe next month.
What a great place to bike camp. I think that would be a lot of fun. Will have to find a place near here to do that. Beautiful views! Love that countryside! Definitely different than Wales, but still very nice.

Belated happy birthday then ! My 50th was a week before lockdown started over here and we had gone to Europe in the camper. We had a restaurant booked in Holland but that was cancelled as we drove through Belgium. We just parked up for the night a then drove home . Bloody virus .

If you want to get an ebike through a kissing gate, then pop it up onto its back wheel and go through upright. Easy peasy.

Hey Paul , then you’re a day younger than me then 👍. There really is nothing around is there . As I said we had to go online to Spain to get Lucys and we only managed it because Lucy is an XS . I wonder if they’ll be a few second hand for sale in the next 6 months.
2 Feet Forward the second hand ones are just cheaper than new with no warranty,so I am ordering a 2021 model and just waiting 😁
2 Feet Forward just purchased a carbon cube 140 race. Had to go to Durham to get it but it’s already got 80 miles after 3 days 😃
Oh very nice 👍 it’s a whole new world of riding isn’t it ! We’re in Keswick tonight and so far I’ve done 145 miles off road with 24,000 feet off climbing on this trip . I’d have never managed that on my standard bike at my age . Absolute game changer ! 👍

I’m not far from Amberley - next time you’re that way try out the Sportsman inn for food and drink. Very nice terrace with great views but the food is something special there.

I remember that pub very very well from when I used to live in Storrington, just up the road. There's another one half way up the hill too, The George and Dragon if my memory serves me correctly. That blonde girl who walked passed you while you were filming looked at you rather suspiciously 😂😂

We will go hiking still but before winter we’re going to take advantage of the distance you can cover on the ebikes 👍 . Can’t wait for the trip , we’re off in the morning so not long now 🚐

So did I ! I can’t recommend one enough . It was the slogging up endless hills that was putting me off riding again but the ebike has been a game changer 👍

Morning mate . Likewise . Was great to have the company 👍. How was the ride down ? . The Rangers path was brilliant , bloody hard though. I’m sat in the van in the rain at Llandegla waiting to ride but it won’t be as cool as Snowdon . Hopefully we may cross paths on some other mountain one day 👍

Nearly fell off the sofa when you said you'd paid £18.75 for two glasses of red wine and a coffee in a pub!!! Haven't been in a pub since the plague but I'm sure that would be about a fiver in Wetherspoons!! Did you find your tarp shelter a bit draughty with 40mph winds? If you're coming to north Wales this weekend then let me tell you, the weather is shocking atm! Hope it improves for you.
I know , it’s bloody shocking isn’t it . Luckily it wasn’t draughty at at all as the tall plants stopped the wind hitting low. You can peg it right down to the ground but there was now way I was moving those pegs . They’re all in the bin now the ground was so hard. It’s been pretty wet down here as well but it’s looking ok where we’re riding , fingers crossed 🤞
That rear light/alarm looks interesting.
It’s a great little gadget and you’d be amazed how well the break light works . I’ll put up a link when Lucy gets home 👍

It’s a brilliant bike mate. I have the mullet version so it comes to life on the downhills and is a blast . The yt’s are just such a good price for what you get. We’re on a two week biking holiday at the moment and I’ve done 80 miles on the harshest terrain and it hasn’t missed a beat 👍
Both of you guys look very capable of cycling without battery assistance, great video though.
Thank you . Yes we are but I’ve spent the best part of 30 years slogging up hills so the bikes allow us to go further and faster without killing ourselves. Put it this way , most of us could walk to work but we don’t do we . It just makes it more enjoyable 👍

Sorry missed this one . I use an old Sony FDR 3000 Action cam but to be honest the GoPro are way better for stabilisation 👍
Does the e bike automatically turn off when you do downhill or do you have to do it manually?

It stays on as such but it only ever uses power when you pedal so when coasting it’s uses nothing 👍

Is wild camping permitted on the SDW?
Not legally unfortunately but it’s so common with it being a long distance route it seems to be tolerated. We’ve never had an issue and camped at least 20 times on the SDW 👍
Where abouts you off to in wales
We’ll definitely be riding in Llandegla and Coed y Brenin and will be in N Wales on Sunday onwards I think at Brenin first 👍
