A note on the lantern: it costs 3 turns of the lantern each time you toggle it on. Below is a quote from the developer about this: "When shock goes above 100% there is a three turn countdown before insanity rises, and if shock goes below 100% this three turn countdown is reset (this is so you can get a chance to step away from a tomb or whatever). So if activating the lantern only cost 1 lantern turn, then if you have 100% shock and want to reach the stairs, it would let you do something like toggling the lantern on then immediately off to reset the countdown, then move a step (or two?), then toggling it on/off again, repeat until you reach the stairs. This would clearly be horrible gameplay yet it would be the optimal thing to do. It's also somewhat realistic as flipping it on and off a lot would probably damage it (perhaps the lantern turns are an abstraction of both condition and battery charge)."
This is excellent tech thanks for the insight! I definitely could have used my lantern more sparingly then after I locked those reanimated corpses behind the door. Thank you!
41:00 Spells seem to have a few hidden effects as well. Bless reduces the shock gain from casting other spells, so typically the first spell cast if casting a long string of spells. See invisible allows you to detect the presence of creatures inside dark areas without having to turn on your lantern, etc. I don't know all of the hidden effects but this is something I noticed.
I’m trying! Can’t say how soon it will be, this game is an absolute bruiser and I’m still quite new to it. I would recommend Tonehack if you’re looking for a better player than me, but even he is still in the learning process. Feel free to ask any questions and I’m happy to dive into the game to find out! Thanks for checking this out
@@jermanator181 Thanks. I have been watching Tonehack as well as playing the game myself. I have gotten to level 10 or so and started resorting to save-scumming to save time leveling back up when I die, but I am not really good enough at the game to reliably finish it. Good luck on your playthrough!

crazy good game.
Totally! But hot damn does it get spicy right out of the gate. Thanks for checking this out!

Thanks for this info! I appreciate you taking the time to watch and give some advice!
When it says your surroundings changed, it just randomized the area around you. You were not actually teleported.
Good to know! I figured it was a Good old fashioned Tele trap
Think you will beat the game at some point? I can not find a full playthrough online.
