    Is it just me, or did supporters have more bravado, a better sense of humour, where the chants and songs they sang from the stands had more depth back then?
    Perhaps it's cos they weren't stuffing their faces with pizza, checking their mobile phone or trying to lay a last minute online bet?
    I can remember when it was having a couple of drinks, grabbing a souvenir badge plus matchday programme and two hours of complete immersion into an atmosphere you would only experience at a good rock gig

However Kenny had even more of an influence on the team generally than Keegan ever had, hit the ground running and overall was a better footballer than Keegan. The date of this match is wrong. April 22nd 1977 was a Friday. On Saturday April 23rd 1977 Liverpool played Everton in the semi final of the F.A Cup at Maine Rd. It was 2-2 and then we beat them 3-0 in the replay, also at Maine Rd on the following Wednesday April 27th.There is no way they could have played Arsenal on April 22nd and then played an F.A. Cup semi final against Everton on the 23rd ! The only Friday night game at Anfield that I remember from the 70s and 80s was May 26th 1989, when Arsenal beat us in the last match of the season to win the title.

    Liverpool had a marvelous home record this season but a dreadful away record winning only five all by an odd goal and scoring more than once only once all season it was their home form that pushed them towards the treble and probably because of their bad away form didn't fully deserve it and probably the reason they slipped up at wembley

    • @eamonstafford2056
      @eamonstafford2056 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If that is the case then how on earth did they win the European Cup against Gladbach then. They lost the FA Cup Final through a miskick that took a deflection. That has to be considered unlucky rather than their poor away form. It was a very long season filled with injuries to key players and one must remember that Liverpool did not have a big squad in those days. Under those circumstances the season has to be considered a terrific success

    • @eddiepower3876
      @eddiepower3876 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just saying their away form was dreadful check the records had the FA cup final been played at Anfield we would have been the first to win the treble not the Manks whose home AND away form in 1998-99 was excellant you cannot rely completely on your home form yes we beat Borussia but it was a neutral venue for them too and it was 50/50 who would win just like at Wembley

    • @eamonstafford2056
      @eamonstafford2056 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't agree that their poor away form had anything to do with them not winning the FA Cup or the treble. If it was because of poor away form how on hell did they manage to win the Lergue then. How did they get to the FA Cup final or the European Cup Final - not all games were at home. The FA Cup winner scored by Manure was a fluke winner by Lou Macari which deflected off Jimmy Greenhoff and bounced into the net before Phil Neal could kick it away that did it. If they were poor away from home then please explain how they beat Gladbach in Rome. Was it because of Divine intervention because they saw the Pope dressed in red. The European Cup was close until Tommy Smith headed in that corner. Yes Rainer Bonhoff hit the post with one shot for Gladbach but Liverpool were close on other occasions as well and I like Gladbach as a team.

    • @eddiepower3876
      @eddiepower3876 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Look you can't hide the facts our away form in the league was crap like that of a relegation team not one who is chasing a treble so our side was not set up to win away from Anfield we would and should have beaten United but our AWAY from Anfield form was crap

    • @eamonstafford2056
      @eamonstafford2056 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      But you are saying in your earlier statements that the poor away form probably cost Liverpool the FA Cup. I am saying that that is a load of Bovine Scatology. If Liverpool's poor away form did cost them then they would never have won the League, The European Cup or even got to the final of the FA Cup. You are just trying to erode their achievements which I think is wrong...for a Liverpool supporter. Stop trying to find fault where there is very little. They were a great side that year and let that be the end of it. Game over!
