So I am an anxiety ridden 30 year old who works from home and doesn't go out a lot.. but I wanted to push myself this year so my big 2024 goal was to create a knitting club! And I did! I spoke to a local cafe and the owner was interested in running it all for free with me. We do an evening every fortnight and experienced folk teach newbies and we all just have a great time. Always packed, big age range and just wholesome. It's went so well and I'm so proud! Would recommend looking into setting something up.
Would love to find a knitting group near me! I need more irl knitting friends
What a wonderful granddaughter, wife, mother, and friend you are, they are so fortunate to have you in their lives, you inspire me! I'm going to do the cove sweater because of you
Also a fantasy lover! Love hearing what you’re reading. Dance of Thieves is so good when you do get to it!! I’m reading The Will of the Many and loving it.
The sweater that you are wearing/made is amazing! You did such a good job on it and love the color.
I started knitting a small stuffy for my boys every christmas. I made them small enough that they could be ornaments after they play with it a little.
Lovely episode and your sweater matching your eyes’ color, so cute! Big fan of knit and chats on yt too, did a fair bit of progress on my vilma top while watching 😌
As a fellow Texan, I feel you…. I’m in atx and I think there are some active knitters around but I haven’t looked much. You’re influencing me to look around. Knitters in my area.
I love your cozy knit & chats!! working on a yellow ranunculus while I watch! my son is only half a year older than yours (just as messy at this age and loves cars just as much too haha) but when I knit the storm sweater junior for him a couple months ago I had to knit the size 5-6 YEARS because he's suchhhh a big boy (destined for the NFL lmao) but I did shorten it by a section I think, so I do relate to it being a bit long!
Sarah from 2 purls in a pod knit the storm sweater and had to knit a childrens 14 and it fit her perfectly. I think that sweater is just really over sized.
Also the Baby Hug boots is amazing for a baby gift... super fast and easy but also sooooo cute wish I knew about it when I had my little girl
I love being able to knit while watching videos like this. I don’t have any friends to knit with irl. Currently working on a pair of socks for my Dad for Christmas. It will be the first pair I’ve made for him so I hope he likes them! I knit a matching tiny sock for every pair I make and eventually I want to make it into a garland! I’m in Missouri otherwise I’d totally be down to come hangout and knit! I’m currently reading The King’s Weapon by Neena Laskowski and listening to the audiobook of Eragon for a re-read
I really enjoyed the knit and chatting this morning!! Love your sweater!! I live in Louisiana and wish there were knitting retreats in the south!
I love your sweater! I am really enjoying your knit and chat video. My kids are now teenagers but when they were little i made them lots of stuffies. They loved them and still have a few :) I highly recommend patterns from Susan Claudino on Ravelry. Her stuffies are knit so that there is minimal if any seaming. They are the perfect size for little ones to carry around. I have made several stuffies and donated them to my kids elementary school over the years( specifically her mouse pattern and the bon bon bunny) and purchased books ( If you give a mouse a cookie and Its not easy being a bunny by Dr suess) to go with them. The teachers LOVE them and use them as motivational tools in their classrooms to help little ones read. I have also made a few of Emily Iveys patterns on Ravelry for bigger stuffies. Can't wait to see what you decide to make your little boy. As a tip.... I would make mine out of acrylic yarn and stuff with poly fil. Once they needed a "bath" i would put them inside a pillow case and toss them in the washing machine /gentle cycle and tumble dry low heat. They always came out clean and in one piece...lol. Hope this helps! I really enjoy your videos 😊
I do the same thing with books. I don't put as much time into reading the books I own because there's always a library book I'm trying to cram in before it's due.
My boy is 6 now, and he goes back and forth on loving stuffies and not wanting stuffies. I've begun making him clothes instead of stuffies now, but right now is the perfect time to keep making your boy knit stuffies~ They'll soak up all the love and more.
Also, since you brought up your library, feel free to leave a notice at your library that you're looking for knitting/fiber arts friends! Or to make a group. That's my plan once the holidays are over, because there's nothing local to me either. Unless I take up quilting, but that's my husband's thing.
Thank you for a lovely video! I feel the same way about local knitting friends and I wish I could find some but aren't sure where to start.
You are so funny, you make me laugh
Check your local libraries for knit nights! My local library has a weekly one. I've never been because the day of the week it's on is my weekly in-office day for work. But it's been recurring on the calendar for at least a few years, so I assume people are going.
I’ve probably already told you this, but I HIGHLY recommend stuffed animal patterns by Susan B Anderson. She has a technique of attaching things as you go, so you don’t have to sew stuff on after. I thought of it cause you mentioned having to re-sew on the ears of your puppy. I’ve made the Good Bunny and the Happy Bunny and have plans to make the Good Bear too.
I enjoy knitting in solitude (while watching knitting videos on TH-cam) but am aware of monthly knitting groups get togethers at two different library branches locations and a couple of weekly ones at two different restaurants. Maybe ask your local library about starting up a group
I CANNOT believe your little guy is almost two!!!! I swear to god you were just telling us you were pg a few months ago!!
The same thing happened to me! Knitted the Storm Sweater junior for my 10 month old son and it came out way too big, it's a dress! And my gauge wasn't off. I think it's a "problem" with the sweater. Which I'm surprised by since her kid patterns tend to run small since she is very petite (haha joke intended..), and so are her children I reckon. So I usually have to size up a lot since I'm almost 5'10 and my son is in the like 80th percentile...
My grandson will be 2 in December also and is rough and tumble like your little boy. I would like to knit him more stuff but 😳😳
I am currently finishing the Moss Stitch and Garter Stitch Guernsey sweater (2-3 years old)! The pattern is from Debbie Bliss (Classic knits for Kids book) in case you are interested for Wilder!
I am also a fantasy girl and for some reason I am often disappointed with the endings of mystery/thrillers. I’ll be really sucked in the whole time, but then end up underwhelmed.
