      I am not big into supplements either and totally agree that a whole food diet makes a big difference... but I found this natural calcium bentonite clay (for internal use) and it's similar to ACV in that it is supposed to help a lot of body systems. I just used it to help digestion and to get minerals but I noticed my hair and nails were growing at a rapid pace (Its high in silica), and especially my eyelashes which were getting thick. Anyways, love you and your videos. Thank you

      I do the same thing! Minus the brushing and the oil, I'll have to try that. I can only make it 5 days before my hair feels gross though. I've found using shampoo that isn't labeled "moisturizing or hydrating" keeps my oil in check better.
      I've taken the same idea and applied it to my armpits and I found that by not putting any soap on them (not even letting shampoo run down them) they lost their pungent BO smell and are more what I would describe as musky now. It has also allowed me to get away with using those salt deodorants as I no longer need a heavy scent to mask my BO.

    • @itsblitzzz
      @itsblitzzz  6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      How interesting about your armpits! Things are easily absorbed through our armpits as there are lots of nerves there and lymph nodes in that area, I wouldn't be surprised if soap and shampoos affect their chemistry dramatically. Thanks for sharing!

      I love this video! I have long hair and always get weird looks from people about the fact that I only wash it once a week. I do bleach my hair which is terrible but something that I do. I try to combat the damage as much as possible with coconut, sweet almond and castor oil hair masks. I work from home so I will put the mix together and just saturate my hair with it, and leave it on all day. When I wash it out, I feel like it not only helps with the condition of my hair but also gives me longer times in between washing. I also like to do a final rinse, after washing out my conditioner, with apple cider vinegar. Then rinsing that out with very cold water. My hair feels and looks super shiny and my scalp I feel is very well balanced. Do you think making the tea tree spray with acv in it would be good? To help extend the time in between washing.

      Really oily hair can be a big sign of overwashing / too much product / poor diet. There are a lot of factors, but you may want to evaluate those and see if some small changes can make a difference! XX

      That's because you have over stimulated the sebaceous glands by over washing it. Cut back to once a week and it should settle down in a couple of months.

    Sulfate free shampoo doesn’t work for me either. I can go a week without washing my hair. But I would love to be able to go 3 weeks. So I would just do it gradually?

    • @itsblitzzz
      @itsblitzzz  6 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      I would just go for it and try to stick it out! Or try washing every two weeks for a couple months and if your scalp acclimates, start to space out washings more. In the summer, when it's really hot and sticky I wash more often but in dry, winter months, I could go a couple months if I really wanted to.

    • @gabn.t
      @gabn.t 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      if sulfate free shampoo doesn't work for you, you most likely have silicone build up in your hair! you'll need to use a sulfate shampoo to take out the silicons and look at the ingredients in your products to check for silicons that way you're not adding them to your hair anymore

    • @itsblitzzz
      @itsblitzzz  6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Silicones have a bad reputation, but most silicone based ingredients in hair products are shampoo soluble and don't build up. I've tried a lot of different sulfate free shampoos, they just don't work on my fine, curly hair unfortunately.

    • @gabn.t
      @gabn.t 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Idk if you're familiar with the CGM(curly girl method), but it goes into detail about how silicons can only be removed from your hair with sulfate.
      I've also had personal experience with this after wondering why a different brand of sulfate free shampoo & conditioner wasn't making my hair feel great. Read the ingredients to find silicone in the conditioner, grabbed a sulfate shampoo to get rid of the silicone so it could feel normal again.

    i usually wash my hair once a week--i don't know if i can do the full month but you definitely inspired me to try to extend my time between shampoos a little more!! my secret is i stopped using conditioner years ago! To keep it healthy I use a protein free shampoo from shea moisture(my hair is thick and very protein sensitive), then i follow with a diluted organic apple cider vinegar rinse. i leave this in for 30-60 seconds while i wash my face and then rinse it out. After detangling with a wet brush or comb, i moisturize by putting a couple drops of pure argan oil or the briogeo rosarco oil all over but mostly on my ends. I used to use the ouai oil! i did like it a lot, but I found pure oil works better for my hair type. I also do a DIY hair mask twice a month with avocados, bananas and honey! but yea, skip the conditioners people! your hair really doesn't need it!

    • @itsblitzzz
      @itsblitzzz  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Shannon Murray Hair mask sounds amazing! I have also never tried an ACV rinse, although have friends who swear by it. Thank you for sharing, will have to try both.

    I remember the way my hair felt when it was extremely healthy. I miss it so much. I stopped straightening my hair as much, maybe like 3 times a month, but I have always washed my hair once a day. Going on day 4 without washing it just to see how it goes.

    I'm dying to try washing my hair less and less, but I get to day 3 and it's soooo unmistakably greasy looking. So, I use dry shampoo. Why else do you hate it other than buildup?

    • @janinedear-barlow3803
      @janinedear-barlow3803 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Try cutting down to week. It's greasy because you have over stimulated the sebaceous glands by over washing it. Cut back to once a week and it should settle down in a couple of months.

    I used to wash my hair everyday, now twice a week. I want to keep drawing that time out, you’ve inspired me to just let it go and see what happens! One of the biggest things that has helped me though is no longer using conditioner. I have found that my hair gets less greasy without it and does not need it! Thanks for the walk through!

    The no-wash thing has never worked for me because I have a suuuuper sensitive scalp, but my hairdresser recently suggested to me to wash and massage my scalp with just water every day or other day and then use shampoo once a week, so I'm going to give that a go... and I'm definitely going to try that tea tree spray idea, thank you!

      It out bad for your hair and scalp to wash it more than once a week with shampoo. Washing with water does cannot remove the dirt as it cannot grab the dirt without some sort of soap. Brush it everyday and wash your brush regularly. On the second half of the week tie your hair up. Change your pillowcase regularly. I used to wash my hair every week, I have washed it every month for nearly a year.

    my hair used to be so oily because I would wash it every day, drying my scalp out and making it produce so many oils. What has helped for me is balancing the PH in the scalp with apple cider vinegar. I now wash it once a week and my overall hair is much healthier!

    • @itsblitzzz

      Have you guys tried boosting your vitamin A intake dramatically ? Supplements aren't water soluble and can be a bit dangerous, but eating tons of vitamin A from fruits and vegetables (carrots, tomatoes, dark leafy greens) can act like an internal retinol and potentially help treat psoriasis. Worth a try!

      itsblitzzz i appreciate the advice but i have seborrhic dermatitis which is similar to like severe dandruff. not as severe as psoriasis AFAIK. there's not really like a cure to it aside from medicated shampoos. it can get bad enough that it grows on my face so i sadly can't stop showering by any means. but i salute anyone that has the ability to. i use minimal product in my hair because i never know what will trigger it to flare up. but the same sadly goes for my skin etc

      Isabella Janssen I’ve never known anyone to have the same condition as me! If I wear my hair down I have to wash it in two days, if I wear it up I can wash every four days until it just becomes too oily and gross, especially since my hair is black. My dermos have given me the medicated shampoos but I just don’t use them because they are tiny and add up quick. Is there anything you do to combat it? Any tips? 💖

    • @nosferatugurl
      @nosferatugurl 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kelsey Andersen sadly no!! i use dermoscribe occasionally once it's on my face and usually it'll burn it off. it's on amazon prime for pretty cheap and i still haven't gone through my first tube in two years. i remember growing up girls would make fun of me because i had "dandruff in my eyebrows" and i never even had a diagnosis until two years ago 😵. so i'm learning with you for sure. it really just gets bad if i stop showering for a week and when i get stressed out i usually see it flare up.

    Naturally beautiful you really are. I wash my hair every two weeks but may extend to once a month. I use baby Johnson’s shampoo. I’m 60 and everyone always comments on my hair. I feel companies that have to constantly advertise their products are a put off for me. If your product is so good word of mouth will work after the advertising process has ceased. Notice how L’Oréal are constantly advertising. Their products don’t work on my hair and I personally am not a fan that’s just me though. I know lots of people who use their products.

    Question. You say your hair is naturally curly, is it the oil that keeps it straightened, I mean the natural oil in your hair? After about a month (no washing) I can brush my hair straight kinda. For me it takes months and months of what some would call neglect to get my hair to a straight state. I have tried sulfate free shampoos, or non shampoos like Wen. It always left me wanting to scrub my head because of its product buildup after about 6 months. When you say I get my hair stripped out/washed out, do you mean they get to your scalp and clean all the residual bs out?

    Hey! I have a question: how do you keep your roots from getting curly/frizzy? I follow pretty much the same hair care routine as you do and it does work well for me. My hair is wavy and kind of frizzy, so I also blow dry it just to keep it "in place". After I couple of weeks, the ends of my hair look great but the roots go back to being frizzy and curly mostly because I can't keep water away from them when showering (even wearing a shower cap) or because of all the toner that I spray on them

    How do you avoid the scalp-y smell? And also, do you still wet your hair throughout the month as in just rinsing and conditioning?

    • @itsblitzzz
      @itsblitzzz  6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I don't! But you can try intermittent water rinses if that works better for you. Generally, the scalp smell is caused by bacteria which can breed rapidly for various reasons. If you use any products, try eliminating them. If you don't already eat a healthy diet, find ways to incorporate lots of fresh fruits and vegetables and eliminate all processed foods.

    I used to only wash my hair once a month and my scalp never got oily. Now, I wash my hair once a week and it’s usually super oily on the last couple of days. I’m going to experiment and slowly start to wash my hair less and try to combat the oil situation naturally. I feel so stupid for going from once a month to once a week because the main reason I did it was that someone told me that I’m disgusting for only washing my hair once a month and I actually took it to heart!

      I used to wash monthly growing up and never had any scalp problems. I started washing weekly years ago following other people's recommendations and now all I have are scalp issues. I think every 3 weeks is a good compromise for me.

    I actually wash my hair with shampoo two times a month cause I have curly hair (3a hair type) many people don’t wash their hair as often especially people with curly kinky textures but it’s cool to find out people with straight textures are doing this too and also harsh sulfate shampoos strip the natural oils from your scalp which can lead to dry scalp and less hair growth oh wanted to mention that cleansing conditioners are life savers if you’re looking for a gentle cleanse I recommend ouidad or deva curl or Shea moisture or if you’re interested 😊

      amber fernandez there are definitely different factors for sure! Shampoo can be extremely drying too like products and frequent washing can cause excess oil and oil buildup though. At least that was the case for me. My hair used to get greasy after a day or two and now i can go weeks.

    Since I was abou 12 I wash my hair everyday and I can't go any longer. My hair are very straight, very sleek and not that thick. But I never, ever since I was 12, use a shampoo with SLS or any other harsh detergent. For a very long time I have been ordering shampoos online since it was hard to find such delicate shampoos in shops in mu country, but now there are some shops with natural products and that is where I can buy them. If I sometimes run out of my delicate shampoo and have to use some harsher one that my mum uses, it makes my scalp super dry, I got some irritation and bumps, and my hair get oily 2 times quicker. Recently I have bought a new shampoo that I have never used before and I have got an impression that I could not wash my hair for a little bit longer. And I started useing a rinse made from filtered water and applecider vinegar - I feel like it helps too. I would like to extend my time between the washes for maybe like a one week. You inspired me❤

    • @Sunny888

      Tyna S you use the acv rinse between washes to extend the time between washes? Or do you use it before washing that extends it? Sorry if my question is a lil confusing but I hope you know what I mean.
      I use acv as a pre rinse and let it sit in my hair for maybe a half an hour to help clean scalp etc but I don't notice it lengthen the time between hair washes so if you have a technique I'd love to know!💕

    Yes!! I’ve been washing my hair about twice a week for a while now. I’d blow it dry and straighten it, and that would last about three days till it would get greasy and time to wash. But now that it’s summer I’ve started to just scrunch with mousse and use the diffuser a bit, instead of the whole blow drying routine, and it seems like it’s lasting longer before I have to wash! I hope I can keep it up after summer is over. My hair texture works well in summer because the humidity encourages the waviness in my hair. Fall and winter it tends to be more flat, so I’ll have to see. But I’m definitely going to try to stay on this “have cleaner hair with less washing” trajectory! Funny, my mom said when she was young (in the 1950’s) they didn’t have to wash their hair as much-I wonder if it’s a difference in shampoo ingredients from then to now.

    I'm sure my hair will look just fine without washing for a couple of weeks but isn't it just unhygienic? Everyone's scalp starts to accumulate dust in a few days, specially if you're going out everyday or keep you hair open most of the times. And honestly, that's why I wash my hair, to get rid of dirt and grime and not really to have them looking great. Obviously washing too much and with abrasive products is bad but isn't leaving then sweaty and dirty just as bad?

    My hair is pretty low maintenance already (probably bc I have wild, biracial curls). I don’t use shampoo, just a conditioner. If I use anything else, it’s maybe a dime’s worth of a styling product from the same line. I usually wash once a week as a way of “resetting” my curls - they can become frizzy/deformed over the course of the week. It would be awesome if I could find a sustainable option for the few products I do use (both of which come in plastic bottles), but unfortunately those have proven harder to find for curly/ethnic hair. Would love to hear product suggestions from anyone else in the comments!

    I use absolutely zero product in my hair but still have to wash it everyday. I air dry it always. It gets flat after 12 hours and greasy after 24. It’s SUPER curly and gets knotty after a day. The knots and itchiness are what’s really hard to battle through when trying to extend my time between shampoos because the knots pull and it causes worse hair loss. I can’t brush it either or I’ll basically be a frizz ball. I’ve never been able to make it work. Help! Lol
