Nice job because you replaced the last flue liner tile and also used expansion material between new crown and flue liner. This will last. Just needed to water seal crown - elastomeric coatings work well for that. The chimney caps are weird that way but I understand their purpose.

Slow it down and explain the process. Would love to hear about the form rig you used. Looks like a good idea.

THat form rig everyone keeps asking about is what we call speed forms. They are reusable concrete crown forms. They are a little quicker and easier to install but they do take a little extra time to finish off and trowel than wood forms do. This is due to there height, wood forms are built to whatever height you need them to be so you can trowel/screed them off fairly quickly. These metal forms are almost 6 inches high so you can build whatever thickness you need. But it's a bit of tedious work trying to make an exact 4" crown if that's what your going for. And you definitely will need to eyeball it and buy a small trowel/float to get into the small areas. All in all we still choose to you them.

I use 3" rigid foam boards and a ratchet strap. Much easier to handle. Or i just make a metal multi flue chimney cap.

Why do you have 25 bags ?? I use premixed concrete and for a 24x48 inch cap I use a maximum of 8 bags...maybe 10

Maybe they were doing more than one chimney but only filmed the one.

That's how water gets in once the caulk fails under the cap, not a good system, but better than a mortar wash , no roof coverings but ground coverings - interesting!!

Should be 2" drip edge on all 4 sides. Hmmmmm.....No safety line. Maybe, a wheelbarrow would be a good investment.

It has a drip edge look at the end product that form they used had a drip edge built in it.
