Why work somewhere that pays you $23/hr as a new grad nurse when you could be making six figures somewhere else? In this episode, I speak with XueXia Bruton, a nurse who did just that. She was tired of earning the same wage someone working at a fast food chain would be earning. So she dipped, moved onto travel nursing and now manages a business that has been making the headlines over the past few years.

Yep, during COVID I got a 3 year contract as a CNA to take temperatures that’s all at $60/hour then it dropped in 2022 to $40/hour . I was able to save for RN school and I don’t have to work for 3 years.

@@healthbeets1519 There was so many contracts. What i did was look for a Covid-19 Temperature job in another State that had a contract in the State where I live. They still have work but the rate is$32/hour and they have hospital work too. The company is out of New York. There is also an APP that you can pick your shift if you want to work in LTC the rate is $29/hour. Mass and California pay very well. Also, in Mass they have companion ship jobs that’s like CNA but it’s more of HHA you don’t do anything but sit and assist that rate is $21/hour. You can work 8, 10, or 12 hour shifts and you get paid to sleep if you work 7pm-7am.

I know a nurse who is a travel nurse that made $500k last year. I know an ICU nurse that became a travel ICU nurse and makes just over $300k per year. I’ve been a doctor for over 11 years and I’ve never made $500k in a year on my salary alone.

As a nurse for 3 decades, i still run half marathon and i do IV therapy and whole body cryo after runs. It replenishes my body quick. However, i still do bedside, weekender position, night shift, 24h and receiving max pay...just in Northern Cali.

You just gotta give it a shot. My entire first year as an RN working on a tele floor I would ask my coworkers to start IVs on my patients because it terrified me to do it myself. But then I got a job in the ED and I had no choice but to lean. Now, I'm usually the nurse my coworkers ask to start their patients IVs.

I’ve been getting IVs at The Hydration Room and it’s a chain of Wellness clinics in California and also does Stem Cell and other stuff. I pay about $350 a month for a few IVs a month and I believe it’s the future for Holistic Health Care for people who stay fit or managing chronic illness themselves and not depending on our fragmented broken health system in USA

Maintaining 2 abodes while traveling is not very sustainable. I maintained my house for 1 year when I started traveling in 2019 while paying for housing on my contract assignments. By 2020 I let the house go and focused solely on travel. I started renting again 2 years later when I stopped traveling. There is no point paying tens off thousands of dollars in a place you barely stay.
