      I know this has nothing to do with the video, but I’m really glad I came across your shiny hunting with the Poké Radar guide. Your commentary is amazing and funny, and even helps shiny hunting Pokémon like Lugia much more relaxing and enjoyable! (968 SRs, not too big? But not giving up!) Hope you feel better Austin John! You gotta take breaks too! ;v; (I remember how ORAS had no limit with their Pokéblocks o.o)

    *NOTE: If you ever want to evolve Feebas to Milotic, use Razz & Chesto berries. These give Dry poffins, which will increase the beauty stat. I suggest making around 15 of them with only lvl 16 or higher. With this in mind, try also to use your joy-cons seperately (this works if you are in the Poffin screen, I've done this myself) to rotate and get a better result. Practice gives results. I've been using this method and every single poffin I've made using the berry combinations you provided always had a smoothness of 8, but I usually average level 55. I think I got a level 62 once, but I'm not completely sure how!
    As for smoothness, what I did was I used the friendship checker to see if my whole party each had the 2 big hearts and verified it with the friendship lady at the ribbon fan club in Hearthrome. I put the friendship ribbon on all 6 of them. I doubt the ribbon has anything to do with lowering the smoothness, but even with a few burns I still somehow always got the 8 smoothness! I think the affection checker in the Poketch is key here. Now I'm struggling making high smoothness poffins just to fill the leftover sheen since they max just about halfway through it.

    For those wondering about Berry growing itself I have a few tips! Watering your berry plants /as they are growing/ will increase berry yield. each berry tree has stages from seedling, growing, in bloom, full fruit etc. Each stage you keep the soil moist will add to the berry yield. Fertilizer will help speed up the time it takes for a berry tree to fully mature.

      @@christianalvarado53 Hey Christian! I apologize for the misinformation - i remembered using it in the original Diamond and Pearl games but it looks like that was removed for BDSP. I think you can still get it and when I double checked Seribii there is language for it - but it would only be usable in Joto, not Hoen. Still, watering your berries during each 'growth' stage will increase berry yield. I typically use the patches located in/or directly next to towns :) have fun!

    Hey Austin, this was an amazing video; thank you for taking the time to test and calculate all this. Could you share your spreadsheet or make a second video using the optimal berries if rare berries are included? The reason I think this might help is one of my previous pro controller analog sticks started drifting after heavy usage so I don't wanna spin it too aggressively to get the high poffin levels if possible. It might also help with people who can trade/get rarer berries but don't have 6 high happiness+cute pokemon to use in amenity park. Thanks in advance.

    • @Buphido
      @Buphido 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can help you out with that if you trust my maths (or rather the maths of the code I wrote a while back to calculate this). If you want to include the really rare berries and have as much time as you want while cooking, there are two variations to each recipe (marked by the /) and the recipes are as follows:
      *_Spicy-Sweet:_* Pomeg Berry, Qualot Berry, Occa/Shuca Berry, Liechi Berry for 53/48 Spicy, 48/53 Sweet
      *_Dry-Bitter:_* Kelpsy Berry, Hondew Berry, Passho/Coba Berry, Ganion Berry for 53/48 Dry, 48/53 Bitter
      *_Sweet:-Sour_* Qualot Berry, Grepa Berry, Wacan/Payapa Berry, Salac Berry for 53/48 Sweet, 48/53 Sour
      *_Bitter-Spicy:_* Pomeg Berry, Hondew Berry, Rindo/Chople Berry, Petaya Berry for 53/48 Bitter, 48/53 Spicy
      *_Sour-Dry:_* Kelpsy Berry, Grepa Berry, Yache/Kebia Berry, Apicot Berry for 53/48 Sour, 48/53 Dry
      *_Total:_* 2 Pomeg Berry, 2 Kelpsy Berry, 2 Qualot Berry, 2 Hondew Berry, 2 Grepa Berry, 1 Occa/Shuca Berry, 1 Passho/Coba Berry, 1 Wacan/Payapa Berry, 1 Rindo/Chople Berry, 1 Yache/Kebia Berry, 1 Liechi Berry, 1 Ganion Berry, 1 Salac Berry, 1 Petaya Berry, 1 Apicot Berry sorted by inventory space as best as I can
      The variation of each recipe you choose doesn't matter, all that matters is that you produce one of each taste combination. If you are using 6 Pokémon with max friendship and assuming that the smoothness would be halved by them, the smoothness of each poffin would be 11. Feed your Pokémon of choice 3 of each of the poffins you'll create and you'll have a sheen of 165 and easily max stats. Even if the smoothness would turn out as high as 17 this would still work, it only becomes difficult with higher smootheness.

    • @mizuhonova
      @mizuhonova 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Buphido Thanks, Buphido! In your choice of berries, did you optimize by trait to smoothness ratio like Austin did?

    • @Buphido
      @Buphido 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mizuhonova yep, I did. The rare berries that would give the most stat points independent of smoothness are berries 60 (Enigma Berry) to 64 (Rowap Berry), however those have such high smoothness that they are inefficient.
      I mentioned that I wrote a program to calculate it. It goes through all possible combinations of berries and gives out the recipes with the highest value given the specifications, in this case, maximise all 5 stats, all berries, affection bonus on and highest efficiency. If highest efficiency is turned on, it divides the sum of the values you want to maximize (in this case all of them) by the smoothness to give you the points per smoothness ratio, which is then attempted to be maximised across all recipes. If efficiency were turned off it would simply return the sum and maximise that.

    • @Buphido
      @Buphido 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mizuhonova THERE WAS AN ERROR!
      The values calculated are all correct, but due to an error on my part some of the berries have been switched around in the recipes (I just tried them myself so I noticed). I corrected the recipes now and it works (produced a Lvl 60 dry-bitter poffin in 53s so the maths adds up and it has smootheness 18, all with a team of 6 who still have a lot of room to grow in terms of friendship).

  • @Vini-BR
    @Vini-BR ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You optimized for the easiest berries to come across, but there's a disadvantage to that: you had to feed your pokémon all the 20 poffins (5 recipes for 1 pokémon).
    I dived deep into the maths and came up with an optimized set of 5 recipes which will max out the traits for 2 pokémon (only 10 poffins for each) and you'll still have plenty of sheen left (8 out of 12). You'll need these 20 berries listed below and you'll use only 1 of each berry.
    Don't worry, there's plenty of margin for error and sub-optimal variations, that's the idea. But if you're going for optimal play, then: cook in Amity Square with 6 cute pokémon with max happiness. Cook like a pro. Each cook will give you 4 poffins; feed only 2 of them to a pokémon, that's how it will grant you to max out 2 pokémon. That's half the cooking, or double the pokémon, folks!
    Cook #1:
    Belue Berry
    Payapa Berry
    Qualot Berry
    Salac Berry
    Cook #2:
    Liechi Berry
    Occa Berry
    Pomeg Berry
    Watmel Berry
    Cook #3:
    Chople Berry
    Hondew Berry
    Petaya Berry
    Spelon Berry
    Cook #4:
    Coba Berry
    Durin Berry
    Ganlon Berry
    Kelpsy Berry
    Cook #5:
    Apicot Berry
    Grepa Berry
    Kebia Berry
    Pamtre Berry

    Had a strange, but lucky occurrence where a Pokemon that was walking with me as we stepped onto Spring Path (to go capture Giratina) ended up finding an Enigma Berry! The Pokemon didn't have the Pick Up ability and Enigma Berries are quite rare, so it was quite the surprise for a such a random pick up.
