Man. Probably one of my favorite sport climbing films I've seen to date. Epic cinematography, good music but even greater audio, and amazing climbing to top it off!
Gorgeous route and climbing, but kudos in particular to the cinematographers! The close-ups of moves and holds were perfectly timed, and really elevated the watching experience and my understanding of the route! Well done!
What got me was the smooth lines and flow. So brilliantly relaxing to watch!!! Reminds me of my younger days when anything was possible (and I climbed nowhere close to this fluidity but man the feeling was awesome). Thanks for the memories :)
It doesn’t look easy or relaxing. The way he’s breathing sounds like 100% body tension for the majority of the climb. But it’s surprisingly relaxing to watch :D
Thank you! More time than you’d imagine goes into finding the right handful of tracks to merge together, creating some drama but not getting in the way. It’s a fine balance!!
Best climbing video ever made, or close! Amazing shots, full sound (of climbing, not music due to drone shots!), great angles and multiple angles. Just wow! And the climb itself is beautiful. LOTS of shooting and editing effort in this. Much appreciated!
Mad climbing skills with some relaxing Bob Ross vibes, “just gonna reach for this happy little 3 finger crimp, now we’re gonna snag this nice little under cling and up we go.” Good stuff
I just onsighted my first Doug Reed route! Just a 5.9+ R trad line but fun and engaging the whole way. It was made even more special seeing as Doug was belaying me. Such a great video and some beautiful movement from Elliot. Doug thought long and hard about the new name for this route. I think "Confirmation" has a nice ring to it.
100% my favorite climbing short film of all time. I’m mostly a gym goer and lower level competitive climber but I would love to try this route sometime! Keep crushing
Such a beautiful and calm display of amazing climbing shot in this video. Like watching a planet earth video but instead of following a lion with its cubs, we're watching a climber move in its natural habitat. All we need is David Attenborough with the commentary on the background.
Amazing shots&edit, and the route looks soooooooo beatiful, just watching the first moves was like "shit, I need to travel there and give it a try!"... Well done!!
Great video, beautiful looking sandstone, quickdraws far apart...reminded me a czech sandstone. The dude has real endurance and power endurance. I wish to get to that stage some day:) Thanks, the video made me happy:)
If I recall. FA ~1990 called it the racist because it's white and mean. Bright white stone. Small edges with long reaches. The nearby route Mississippi burning was built on this theme I think. Both routes have been renamed. Mississippi learning and this is now confirmation. Famously classic and hard at the grade.
The vid quality of this is fantastic. Awesome send! The New deserves vid production and professionalism like this to represent its beauty. If you ever get a chance, would love to see a vid like this of Harbinger Scarab! Cheers mate!
I am fascinated by this video and have watched it multiple times - the climb, the nature, the sound, the music, the quality of the video, everything! I urge you to make more videos like that! I also liked the background music a lot but could not find it - could you please name it for me?
Thanks so much for sharing! Super super appreciated. The song is a mix of about 4 tracks to build a score that suits the climbing - not just one song alone.
Could you please list the tracks as I would very much love to know those - I watch this video (and The Crouch (5.13d / 8b) Elliot Gaunt) on a regular basis before climbing, it really gives me the spirit, so rare to find something that makes you feel relaxed and motivated at the same time :)
Wow awesome video... usually films like this are based on pro climbers on pro routes, 9b or over... very interesting to see something easier, i suggest you to do the same on for ex. a 6c/7a 😉
The art of climbing is quite beautiful when done right - and we want to pair that with the art of filmmaking. Both take lots of intention ❤️ glad to hear it connects with people
Great footage, loved it. You´re probably not active on Vimeo, so I´ll try and ask here - how did you manage to capture those moving shots? For example 1:20-1:30? :)
Haha This route was renamed to “Confirmation 13b” in 2020 with the blessing of Doug Reed who put this up. For context, this route was allegedly so named because Doug Reed thought the rock was white and mean.

My god. What a beautiful route. What a beautiful send. What a beautiful film. Wonderful. Exceptional.
I super appreciate the comment. Super encouraging

Love that you notice the details! 💪🏼 Cheers
To watch a video like this as part of such a small audience - a rare thing for sure. That was great.
Thanks so much for the love! Cheers
This man makes me want to dedicate the rest of my life to climbing so just maybe one day I could climb like this.

Yeah Elliot has a way of making it all look so easy and choreographed. Inspiring for sure!
What an amazing line…
Agreed! Even the runout finish
This made me miss the New soo much
Okay this is the most relaxing 8a send I've ever watched, up there with videos of Jain kim.
Elliot has a way of making everything look easy. My dude is a crusher
And no shouting, squealing and screaming…
It doesn’t look easy or relaxing. The way he’s breathing sounds like 100% body tension for the majority of the climb. But it’s surprisingly relaxing to watch :D
Great music for the type of climb, perfectly fitting

This 3-finger open grips are so sick! Nice send Elliott
Yes the route is amazing! Fun seeing you here - been following you on IG for some time. Cheers
Wow! Guy is a beast! Cuz that is some scary stuff. Great job all around.
The runout to the anchors gives me butterflies everytime haha

Congrats on crushing the trad line. Nothing gets the heart racing like some runout on trad
so sick. such a masterpiece, so beautiful to watch. thank you!!
Beautiful film and lovely mood ! Congratulations for this climb.
Close up footage of the crux was a great touch!
Love that people notice these details 💪🏼
Beautiful film. Thank you!
Thanks for the comment! ❤️
What a Route. So Many Cruxes. Well Done.
Cinematography is so sick!! well done.
Love to hear that! Thank you!

Awesome to hear! Come on out and take some whips!
beatiful route and the video is perfect

Doug Reed. What a legend. Nice send!

Really nice film. I want to climb this amazing looking Route.

Everything about this is just so beautiful!
Great video, fantastic line. Kudos. And kudos to Doug Reid for seeing the line back in the day.
Thank you! Agreed!
Absolutly stunning route.
100% agreed
That was beautiful…
The movement and position… fantastic
Respect. Looks so chilled, but it's a 8a... WTF... Pretty well done!
Both the camera work and the climbing were beautiful to watch. This is truly one of the best climbing videos I have ever seen!
Thanks so much! I’m honored! Cheers
Awesome camera work and insane climbing.
Really appreciate this comment! Thanks homie

Thanks nathan! We're working on getting some regular content out similar to this style.
Incredible line, amazing climbing and beautiful music. I enjoyed so much watching your video!
Thanks so much for these kind words! We composed the music ourselves so it’s nice to hear it connects with people ❤️
Great video! It really highlights the quality of the New River. Good send!

An a really good climber!
Amazing climb and such a chill video. Exactly the way it should be.

Great video and gorgeous route.. wish I lived closer to play on it.
Beautiful quality production as you know. But goddamn this must have been so pumpy. Kept going forever
Such a smooth climber with great movement and technique!

Jotting down a tick list of routes to film at the New currently. The New is an amazing place - hoping to do some justice to some of the classics
So pumped to to see such sick content coming out of the NRG!
Represent the home crag!
The route looks beautiful.
Amazing video and sound collection
Thanks so much!
Great video. It inspires me to begin climbing.
Yes, he makes it look so easy. It’s so inspiring to have that kind of control
Man, the run out on some of those draws, especially on the way to the anchors, is nerve-wracking
Haha when you realize the climb is done but your palms are still sweaty haha
The video and climbing are so serene. Keep this content coming
Excellent video and the route looks amazing.
Belle performance et très jolie rocher 👍
Every hold he moves to has me laughing uneasily and exhaling in disbelief.
I always finish watching and realize my hands are sweating 😂
good stuff¡¡¡ thanks for the video...
beautiful rock face and amazingly climbed. great technique! :)
Elliot makes it all look so easy haha
Very beautiful
truly AMAZING

amazing sound design!
Thanks so much! Lots of work, but worth it
Damn bro, smoothed it
awesome send!
very nice!
crazy line
epic shots
Awesome video. Please do all the other routes at the New now.
Easy task. Just start from the beginning 😂
This has to be the smoothest .13 I've seen climbed.
Elliot makes everything look easy. So choreographed and artful. Makes it fun to film him!
Amazing looking route! Looks harder than 8a!
You aren't wrong, it's a notoriously sandbagged route that is a right of passage in the area.
……..👏👏👏👏😎😎😎……bravi !!
Thank you Doug Reed.
I love how he said "clipping" 5ft off the ground...
I, too, strive to be an awesome racist.
Subbed.
Awesome route name

Wouldn't the name 'The Racist' be better applied to some class 3 gully grovel-fest filled with loose blocks, choss, moss and running water?
It’s apparently because the rock is so white and mean. It’s since been renamed to “Confirmation”
Clipping!
SO FAKIN DRAWN OUT, YEEEEEE HAAAAAWWWW
