- I know some of these are not exactly "boss fights" and more of a "run away from the boss" parts, but I thought I should include it anyway.

At the very first fight, it looks like I'm getting hit while running from the boss, but it's supposed to happen and you don't take any damage.
This game is not free of bugs. For example, when you escape from the final boss, you always take damage while digging through the sand. It's clearly not intended, but thankfully you can go around it and stay unharmed. There's also another part there which damages you for no reason, but that one rarely happens. - เกม

To think that Ori was a seed, and his true fate was to become a new spirit tree... truly beautiful.
It wasn't beautiful, it was BRILLIANT!
I mean we knew that as far back as 5 minutes into the first game; when we find the powers from other spirits that have passed there's always a small spirit tree growing on the place where they died

It's true tho, we always knew the spirits and the trees were part of the same circle of life, but it was lovely to see Ori become one big tree instead of a small one, specially when compared to the simpler ending of the first game, in the sense that Ori just "lived happily ever after" in the ending of Ori 1
I wish we got to we ori become as big as sein in the spirit tree also did you guys notice that Naru and Ku And Gumo’s faces can be seen on ori as the camera slowly goes up? It’s here at 33:30 where you can see all of their faces at once.
When I first saw this I started crying up more water than the ginso tree😭. This little Easter egg is one that can make you cry when you first notice it

The first game made you cry at the beginning, this one makes you cry at the end

I was sitting smugly and telling my wife how i read a review that the end was "tear jerking" right as the end cutscene started. A few minutes later... my eyes are welling up and my wife is watching me desperately trying to fight back tears.
Its exactly the other way around, this ending was lowkey bad in terms of emotions, I felt happy when watching, with the last game me and every review ive watched so far has cried...

I was satisfied with will of the wisps. tho it feels a little bit shorter then the first one did I completed all the side quests to But I didn't care about how short it was I still loved the game. in my opinion it's as good as the first one was

You do find his petrified corpse though, in the Silent Forest. Either the Decay got him or Shriek did.
Shriek turned Howl into stone. Shriek silences the woods so when she heard Howl, she went to go silence him/silence the woods

That made me wonder what happened to Shriek, did she give up on life, just fall asleep, or what happened. Because after, you see that Naru, Gumo and Ku lived their lives, so Shriek didn't eat them. Its sad to think about, but I think she went back to where she started her life to end it there, too.

It is now my headcanon that those are the exact words that went through Ori’s mind when he was stumbling toward Seir after defeating Shriek.
Ori showed hesitation in his final moments before fusing with Seir, Ori let go of Kuros feather, which could have a number of symbolic meanings, but what I find the most sad, is that ori couldn't even say goodbye to his family.
This has to be one of the most well orchestrates games I've ever seen The music matches the emotional tone to the game. Haven't seen a good game like this in a long time

The song in escaping foul presence scene in this game is one of the most beautiful ost i have ever heard
If you listen carefully, ori's theme appears in watermill escape, where you delivers it from corruption (foul presence), in the mora's fight when you dug up half of her HP (you are beating her, and delivering her from the corruption), kwolok's theme when you fight him after the escape sequence, bc you must free him from the foul presence, and shriek's theme when you also did a good portion of the fight, bc you must free shriek from its hate
i wonder if we could see it adapted into an animated movie or series, this would be great, into good hands

Not in the first game, in the first game it really was the Nibel spirit tree. That Ori shares its voice is just a testament on how it's just a part of the cycle. The spirit tree of Nibel was a spirit too once, and the cycle continues.
The voice in the Will of the Wisps was Ori, but in The Blind Forest it was the Nibel Spirit Tree

We all need to appreciate what a beautiful game this is. The emotional backstories of every single character, the soundtracks on the scenes, I don't think we deserve something this great. This game deserves more attention, and even If there was a movie, a manga, and some game theorists video, we would never achieve what this game deserves.

Doesn't need any of that. It's a beautiful and extremely well crafted piece of media, limited to two fantastic video games.
Who wants a manga, movie, or theorist videos? The story and world are so simple and beautifully told and experienced as is. Loading it down with extra unnecessary crap would worsen it in general in my opinion.
But that aside this game deserves all its credit and more no matter how much it's gotten. Basically a flawless game.

The fact that you have a no damage boss rush of this game within the first week of its release speaks volumes of the level of skill you have at the moment. This is how the battles against Ori's foes deserve to look.
And incidentally, against the laser ball within the Willow's End, it is more effective to use the Light Burst, it literally eats several chunks of health from the boss in seconds. Mores so if you have the shard that makes it spawn 3 smaller versions upon exploding.
I actually had to go back and fight the boss again, because the light burst is just so broken on that fight, I felt like I missed out.
I used light burst from the moment I obtained it till the end of the game. If you use the shard that upgrades it and use your other shards to boost your damage combat becomes a cakewalk. I defeated shriek within seconds
@@Cystlib is it better than Spike? Spike does a ton of damage but takes a lot of energy so I used Catalyst shard with it in bossfights and it was quite effective.

I just now realized Ori's family are melded into the tree, with Ku at the top, Gumo in the middle, and Naru at the bottom, the last one to pass away. God, as if I already wasn't destroyed by the ending!
Naru passed away first. Gomu places a dying Naru at the tree's base.
But it's still beautiful how Naru, Gomu and Ku are etched into Ori's life forever.
It never shows neither Gumo and Ku's deaths. Gumo may have died, but I don’t think Ku did

I honestly did not expect that Kwolok boss fight and it genuinely terrified me when it happened. Also his death was really sad because you by fighting him killed him and he tells you with his last words to not worry about him but to free the rest of the forest and save the Moki.
That boss fight just hurts, so much.
Especially since the boss just before it is essentially the same concept, but that time you freed them from the darkness
I just did it two days ago except I was playing on easy, and barely got to see any of his moves/animations. It is indeed very sad ;_;
Kwolok’s death is so tragic, foul presence was controlling him and you have no choice but to attack kwolok, and the leitmotif as he’s dying just makes it even more sad.
I have to cry every time I see shriek going back to her parents. It's the saddest thing, I've ever saw in a movie or a game (this is better than any animated movie) It's the only game I still have to cry, even after seeing the scene multiple times. If I cry at a movie or a game, I don't cry anymore if I see the scene again. But this game... It's so sad. Especially shrieks story... and her end... I'm even crying while writing this comment. 😢 This game is just amazing.

What I like about these games is the fact that they make you sympathize with the antagonist. That is what true art is

@@userprvt28 a moki father asks you to go check on his family and see if they're okay and tell them he's okay, and when you do they're dead, killed by the corruption thingy i forget the name of it it's been 5 months. then when you go back and tell the moki father, they get up and leave and go back home. if you go back there, you find that the moki father killed himself, to be with him family again. (i think it was a father i don't remember exactly it's been a long time)

I have been gaming since Atari 2600 days and this one and the first are two of the best games i have ever played. Pure gaming bliss. This is what happens when a team with a pure passion for gaming combines amazing visuals, great storytelling, excellent traversal, and fun combat. Looking forward to seeing the next in the series. might be a pretty late comment but I really love your fight with shriek, you somehow nailed the pacing of the fight such that it almost perfectly aligns with the recorded theme inside the soundtrack. there were a couple times like 25:24 where even shriek's attacks seem to match up to the music, crazy cool to watch and listen to!!
(a later comment), I believe if you played the game without damage and taking all the chances for hitting when is possible, the music would be align with the cinematic. This game was very careful developed, the music and playing alignment doesn't surprise me. Totally a master piece.

this game's soundtrack can NOT be understated.
There is so much detail in these songs that VERY few people will actually hear during gameplay unless they turn off sound effects (which are commonly used as a very helpful part of a boss' attack telegraphs), AND YET IT IS STILL THERE AND IT IS AMAZING
If you want a Metroidvania with an amazing story and equally amazing soundtracks, try Hollow Knight.

Ori was also the first spirit tree, my guess is that the spirit guardian (ori) becomes the tree but soon reincarnates as a spirit again at some point
@@sandmountainsam9287 The voice in the first game was the Nibel's spirit tree (essentially Ori's father). The voice in the 2nd game was Niwen's spirt tree (Ori)

about the ending i would wish for Ori to see his family once before depart
he turns into the new tree of life, and since he's also revealed to be the narrator it's not like he's dead, merely transformed. The part where his leaves rustle and his family all laugh even implies he can still speak to them, like how the old tree of life spoke to Ori

It’s cool how you can tell Ori’s maturing. In the blind forest he had to rely on a wisp to attack, and he ran away from collapsing places instead of actual fighting. Now he can use his light to make weapons and I love it.
I forgot how much this game made me cry. From Gareth's composition to the writers and animators of Moon Studios, this game just hits me right in the gut with feelings

I actually fought Kwolok before Mora. I was really confused when I found Mora was way easier
Same here. Kwolok was an entire agonizing hour of death after death for me, and then I went and beat Mora in just a few tries. That was when I realized I must have accidentally gone after the wisps in the wrong order.
@@matthewweinberg633 I don't think there is any particular order you need to get them in? Obviously yesh you can only get to certain areas when you get new skills, but for me also, I fought mora pretty much near the end of my main playthrough also I think.
As for escaping the sandworm, that took me 2 whole days, the burrow mechanic for me is horrible I could never really master the technic to drive myself up to the parts I needed to jump up to 😂
@@Klynch111 wait that’s interesting! Mora and Kwollok were both really hard and took me a half hour each to beat, but I did the sandworm in 2 tries! I had around 25 hours at that time though so I was really good with the movement even when I struggled with the combat.
It's opposite to me , fought mora then kwolok , had hard time beating mora than kwolok
Maybe it's because we got upgrades and more abilities before we fight the 2nd boss depending on which boss we started at

Mora is the latest boss I've fought, and she was probably the first real challenge I've had on Hard that actually felt like a boss encounter. A lot of trial and error, and mistakes, and she melts your health. I had the Shards which make myself and the enemy hit harder, and the one that buffs the opponent in return for greater reward, which obviously made the encounter even harder than it needed to be. Still, was intense, and exhilarating; and felt good to overcome.
I first tried her on normal, so I was surprised that in hard mode she's actually somewhat difficult; in fact, she took me more tries than Kwolok, who gave me real trouble back in normal. Now that I've played hard mode, I'a actually say her patterns are more difficult than Kwolok, but in normal she does so little damage that you can just spam your attacks and she'll die before you do.
However, now that I actually got to experience it a little, I must say that I find the fight to not be well designed. It's kind of hard to tell what part of her body hurts you and what doesn't, the darkness kills you instantly instead of taking a few seconds to kill you like the whole damn level taught you, her spider babies can overlap with other attacks in ways that don't seem intended and finally she does identical starting animations for several of her attacks. Plus, the whole concept is just so uncreative. It's a big spider in a den filled of spiders. Oh joy.
Hey guys, I got a question. Does the previous game, Ori and the Blind Forest, has any bosses? I started playing it before this game, and made some good progress, but I couldn't finish it in time. And now Nioh 2 is out, and I have to play it too, but I can do the Blind Forest video first.
Gellot I don’t think it has “bosses” in the traditional sense but at the end of each dungeon there’s a sequence where you have to run and parcour away from something so you could maybe do that hitless
It doesn't have actual bosses. There are escape sequences. The only "boss" i think would be the final sequence against the villain.
In the first game they're more of the platforming 'Run Away!' type bosses where it's Ori against the elements. No health bars on the bosses, so no taking damage. That's one of the main differences imo between The Blind Forest and Will of the Wisps. You could do those sections without taking damage, though if you wanted.

To be honest, even if Kwolok took me like infinite attemps to defeat, I never felt angry for the character, and his death was in fact, hard for me to watch.

bosses are so chaotic in this game. so many different moves, fights that turn to chase scenes, scenes that turn to fights. just a beautiful game that def deserved the awards it won.
