I’ve got the Sonos Roam 2 months ago as a gift for my birthday… I’m so fascinated, I love the sound quality and the Alexa and Spotify integrations, I really love to play a song and rice up the volume until the music makes me dance, the app is intuitive and works well. The Bluetooth connection is ok, but I don’t know why sometimes the audio cuts off a little bit, it’s not so often but it happens sometimes, but as long as I can enjoy the music is pretty cool. Hopefully I would try the Sonos Move sometime later, but it’s too expensive, although currently I’m very happy with my Sonos Roam, it’s great for Alexa or even for portable usage, I made it a water test first with Shampoo and then wetting it on my sink… results? It’s intact, still working very fine. Hopefully I would keep it for 3 years, I want to have it working without any issue

Yea I know people like bass heavy songs but the Sonos actually sounds better to me. The JBL seems to sacrifice clarity for bass, the second song sounded very muddy.

For outdoor listening, I feel that JBL is better.

Thanks for your work. Can you compare WiFi audio vs bluetooth audio? I am quite sure you compared bluetooth audio between the two which is not fair to Roam. Via WiFi, Roam actually plays lossless audio.

Sonos eco system, balance in sound…sonos all the way. If you want a Bluetooth, bang around speaker buy something else - the whole point of sonos is the network/linking/grouping aspect…the roam just has the ability to be used as a Bluetooth speaker too so it’s not designed To compete in the JBL class which has no sound balancing at all - not to mention voice control, self adjusting acoustic parameters via mic etc. this is really apples to oranges. The ONLY overlap is form factor and Bluetooth. The JBL is missing so much more - it’s a tired, boring design … just my two cents. BUY SONOS don’t look back.

Yea, that’s true, Sonos is more focused on Wifi speakers, I have the Roam and I like it very much, but the audio cuts off using Bluetooth. Talking about Bluetooth speakers the Sonos Roam might not be the best, I would rather a UE Wonderboom 2 in stead, but talking about Alexa speakers the Sonos Roam is a really good choice, it also is compatible with Spotify Connect, Airplay and many music streaming services and that makes it considerably more premium than other portable speakers in the market that only have Bluetooth

I heard the speaker sounds with my ATH-M40X Headphones, and clearly the Sonos Roam sounds better and cleaner. Just no loud sound and no clip chance :(
