Hey Floss, you forgot to mention the driver difference. Flip 5 has a single full range driver. Flip 6 now has a separate tweeter with a woofer. Rock on brother !
Just bought a preowned JBL Flip 4 (So now I have 2 for party boost, and it sounds dope)... Must say, the fact that the 4's mids and highs are better than the 5's, still makes me want to stay with the 4... Also the 4's built in mic is awesome for voice calls. Actually it' so useful, and a proper game changer for my needs. The 6 seams really cool, but i'd need to by 2 for full effect. The party boost feature really gives a fat surround sound when connected to all other devices (Sport on TV).. Reckon I might only make the move around JBL 8 or 9. Sure it will be a pricey event and well worth it when the day comes, but the step up form 4 to 6 is still to not big enough to justify spend for 2 units. Can't go wrong with JBL period! I got my headphones on and I can honestly say the flip 6 sounds a lot better as far as sound quality highs and the mids are more pronounced and the bass is a lot richer on the flip 5 every time the bass hits it sounds like it's pulling power away from the highs and mids I can only imagine what it sounds like in the room but both speakers do sound amazing crazy floss keep up the good work man
Was kinda tempted on getting the 6, but I just love the fact that the 5 can be personalized with a custom image. It really helps me out too cause my friends and I all love syncing our speakers together and if mine has a design I made myself on it, it makes it harder for us to mix up whose is whose. And it stands out cause you know it's original vs. just a few color choices.
@@YoungAmzn On the JBL website you're able to customize some JBL products. For the Flip 5 for example, you're able to put any image and text on it. I personally wish the Flip 6 had this option because it's actually pretty cool to have.
Been using the flip 5 for a few of years now and it's just amazing, the quality on JBL speakers are top notch, they're built to last, for my next speaker I'll upgrade to the xtreme line which should be perfect for my needs. That black color sold out fast I'm checking everyday on jbl website and Best buy for the black..and yeah the 6 sounds much better I guess that Tweeter they added helped the 6 to hold the edge over the 5..
Sadly this one is not out on the Philippines yet. I think its better than the Flip 5 aesthetically speaking. If JBL just put mic on these? Hands down best wireless speaker. Awesome review as always 👌🏼

The Flip 6 is a whole other world of speaker. It sounds like a half way decent small bookshelf. If you can get a Flip 5 for less, they difference is minimal as the jump from the 4 to the 5 is significant. The Flip 6 is way less now. Also, if these are too expensive, an EXCELLENT option is the UE Wonderboom 2 or 3. Good luck!
Just one request, when you are testing 2 different songs, it would be great to have one song be synthetic/virtual instruments and another one that was recorded with real instruments instead of both songs being synthetic. I don't know if that's the correct terminology but you know what I'm sayin. Maybe there's really no difference but it was just something I was curious about. Great video as always. Kinda surprised you didn't give a little jab at JBL for purposely leaving out software features like the EQ settings for the Flip 5. We all know they could just as easily add that shit to older models and that's some bs. And how can they not figure out how to have connectivity from the older models to the new ones when they both have connection capabilities? Maybe they can't do it as the same party boost, 100 devices crap but should be able to at least connect somehow. I think we would love to see a video of you connecting all your JBL speakers at once, new and old, whatever ones can connect and every one of them. Get it poppin!!! Great video as always!
Dope review. Just got the Flip 6 yesterday for free so I’m lit! I tried the EQ on the settings that you recommended and it’s 🔥. That plus the iPhone’s “late night” EQ just takes it to another level. Solid speaker for sure!

I last month i bought my first Flip 6 and then just two days ago i bought my second one because i really loved my first one and wanted to use the party boost mode and stereo group and after connecting them together they sound INCREDIBLE although i wish that the EQ could be changed while they're connected. Oh and the one i bought the other day i got for only $100 because it's on sale right now and which surprised me a lot because i paid $130 for the first one last month so i got 30 bucks off 😃

I have to disagree about not buying refurbished devices. Amazon renewed is a great program that gives you a 90 day return period and the stuff comes in like new condition.
The loudness test you did is bunk the speaker is on one side. You needed to center the speaker to the mic equally to do it. So far love love the review! I just bought a Bose Flex and I’m in love.

Charge series is really the bad apple from JBL. The Flip is very portable and sounds great for its size and the Xtreme is louder, bigger and still portable because of the awesome carrying strap, great for outdoor parties. I really don't know who the Charge is intended for?

Thanks man for another great review. I could tell with headphones the flip six definitely beats the flip 5. I like that there is an app with E-Q settings. From your brief description of the app, it sounds like it will be accessible with voice over. I use that on my iPhone 8 as I'm totally blind. I'm looking forward to checking out the connectivity of bluetooth 5.1. I need a good bluetooth connection to work with my bard mobile app. This app is for the blind and allows me to get audio books for free. Sometimes speakers with lower bluetooth don't work well with the app and also there could also be problems with voice over. Thanks again for another great review.
@@Mushbee I am totally blind, so how something looks isn't of major importance to me. I agree, that I do wish the speaker had a rubber cap covering the charging port. I don't intend to take the speaker outside with me, so I think I will be okay. When I do get the speaker, I'll have to let you all know what I think of it. I have never owned a JBL speaker of any kind. It will be neat to try a new brand of speaker.

I had the flip 5, but tsa misplaced my shit at atlanta airport back in September. Tried to reach out to them, but was unsuccessful. So now after watching this video, I might as well go ahead and get the 6. I had the five for about two years so I know how that sounds. Now if the bass hits a little better I could deal with it. My homie told me about some other speaker to that sounds better than the five. Might check that out
The FliP6 looks perfect to place on my bicycle when I work out in public. It is annoying trying to keep my AirPods or any ear piece in my ears when I ride. It seems to constantly fall off after a good while. thanks for this review buddy
Mr.flossy,i think you should try the Anker soundcore motion boom bluetooth speaker. Better value and better spund than any jbl flip speakers. Also better than jbl charge family. You can buy two motion boom instead of one jbl charge 5. I hope you will try it. Give it a shot. Love your review
Flip 6 over the five in the second test if u would have raised the eq it would have stomped the flip 5. So flip 6 is my choice. I own a flip 5 flip 6 and charge 5. Flip 6 is the winner over flip 5. The grand master is the charge 5 over the flip 6. bigger battery more bass more watts. Over all i like the flip 6 for potability and charge 5 for near the pool. Chrage 5 seems to carry sound further than the 6. What great content u put out i really appreciate it. Great video. 👍
My current set up is Charge 4 for bass, 2 Flip 6 and Pulse 5. The only downside is that I have to use Dual Audio to connect the Charge 4 to the rest ☹️
I still have the jam storm from way back. Still rocking. Solid purchase under 50. I got the flip6 too. But, if storm is glued to a slick table... Ull feel the bass on the floor, but you won't hear it as much.
We get points rewarded at work and there’s a catalog online to shop from with a lot of choices. Got the flip6 in camo. By the way the battery lasts about 18 hours not 12 and if you dunk it in water it still works fine
I know everybody likes and bass in everything but I wish people would do their reviews with singers as well. I listen to a lot of gospel and I would love to hear the clarity of the voices and the reviews compared

Jus took my flip 4 apart n connected 4 speakers and a sub to it😂 but it was still working great. I got a charge 5 tho when I need it

The VLC media player has a very good graphic equalizer.
For those using the Flip 5, give it a try and it will transform the speaker.
Most people connect to their phone. VLC is pc only right>?
That will literally destroy the speaker and void the warranty. Trust me you don’t wanna use that.

You can get a better reading on the speakers if you play test tones. A step up from that would be using a spectrum analyzer with test tones.

Water can do inside the slot but doesn't go inside the speaker. Its sealed.
Before charging you have to make sure its dry tho.

So now after watching this video, I might as well go ahead and get the 6. I had the five for about two years so I know how that sounds. Now if the bass hits a little better I could deal with it. My homie told me about some other speaker to that sounds better than the five. Might check that out

The FliP6 looks perfect to place on my bicycle when I work out in public.
It is annoying trying to keep my AirPods or any ear piece in my ears when I ride. It seems to constantly fall off after a good while.

For me, the JBL 5 sounds better even without the choice in EQ. The tech upgrades on the 6 are great, so go for it sounds better to you.
Mr.flossy,i think you should try the Anker soundcore motion boom bluetooth speaker. Better value and better spund than any jbl flip speakers. Also better than jbl charge family. You can buy two motion boom instead of one jbl charge 5. I hope you will try it. Give it a shot. Love your review
Flip 6 over the five in the second test if u would have raised the eq it would have stomped the flip 5. So flip 6 is my choice. I own a flip 5 flip 6 and charge 5. Flip 6 is the winner over flip 5. The grand master is the charge 5 over the flip 6. bigger battery more bass more watts. Over all i like the flip 6 for potability and charge 5 for near the pool. Chrage 5 seems to carry sound further than the 6. What great content u put out i really appreciate it. Great video. 👍
My current set up is Charge 4 for bass, 2 Flip 6 and Pulse 5. The only downside is that I have to use Dual Audio to connect the Charge 4 to the rest ☹️

I still have the jam storm from way back. Still rocking. Solid purchase under 50. I got the flip6 too. But, if storm is glued to a slick table... Ull feel the bass on the floor, but you won't hear it as much.
I bought jbl flip 6 from flipkart, but i have noticed that above 50-60% volume the bass goes totally flat.

We get points rewarded at work and there’s a catalog online to shop from with a lot of choices. Got the flip6 in camo. By the way the battery lasts about 18 hours not 12 and if you dunk it in water it still works fine
