All around good stuff from both Kevin and Alex. those who exit themselves out of life are the strongest and bravest people that the world will ever know and those who call them "cowards", "selfish", etc. for it just add more fuel to the fire and show exactly why people choose to leave this world
love to see another episode! this episode was fantastic! Alex is incredibly based and one of a kind these days. i don't have much to add as he pretty much hit every nail on the head, but i'm grateful that you've continued to make TRTNLE episodes. this podcast is truly treasured among those who share these kinds of philosophies. thank you Kevin.
Another great guest Kevin! Antinatalism really is the best philosophy because it cares about consent and severity of possible suffering. Being antinatalist is an act of rebellion for me. Until I can get the dignified exit, I refuse to participate in society which includes not procreating.
Just got to the end of the video. The part that I found most interesting was his point of view that parents should be required to get approval from their children before they are granted access to MAID or something like that. This is in line with what I brought to a politician here in Canada. I said that parents who choose to self terminate, should be required to take care of some of their responsibilities before they are granted access to MAID. One of those responsibilities is their children. My suggestion at the time was very vague, just that they shouldn't be allowed to just leave the children abandoned. At least get them into a new home.
It's just yet another facet of what could/should be a well thought out and well planned end to one's life. We put so much thought and planning into our lives, but it's quite peculiar that people just allow themselves to drift aimlessly when it comes to how their life is going to end. It's completely illogical really. I've seen so many people, who had really terrible ends to their life. And in many cases they actually had a pretty happy life, which to me just makes no sense at all... regardless of your circumstances or how good/bad your life is going, why would you allow yourself to have some horrible random end with lots of uncertainty for you and your loved one's?
I really enjoyed the video. I'm sure I'll be watching it again. 11:26, 12:30, 12:46 16:31... Not a medical model... Is a human rights issue. 25:49... "Coward's way out" nonsense..., 26:08... The irony... It's one of the more courageous things a human can do... 28:45, 29:08..."the child should have to give consent if the parent wants to die".... But the children should be 18 years old....
@@TheRightToNoLongerExist Thanks for posting another video Kevin. I haven't watched it yet, but just happy to see a new trtnle video pop up in my feed. :)
I feel bad about Alex's friend getting paralyzed. He lives my worst nightmare to be trapped inside a body that broken. Life already feels like prison but paralysis would turn my body into a Supermax!
This was an excellent conversation, thank you I think the exit package plus bucket list items is actually a really good idea, but I suspect it’ll be a while before humanity can accept such a thing Only thing I’d say is the mention of will towards the end. It’d be cool to drive that point home a bit more bc there’s a lot of neuroscience research behind the concept that free will does not exist. That all sentient beings are biological machines, that a lot of what comes with life is luck based (not sure if that helps or hurts the argument but just truth) which I think may be relevant to the topic. Robert Sapolsky has many TH-cam’s about it that are worth watching for a few hours, if you haven’t already come across them of course
I think the resistance to the right to die comes down to having to acknowledge and work on the issues within society rather than just indulging in self serving behaviours. But I do also understand the fears around power structures and when you open the door for it means it will be abused by those in power.
@@hosseinkarimi6928 I previously responded but seems to have vanished. Basically the 'right' to die will transform into the 'need' to die as services for vulnerable people receive less funding and the option to end one's life becomes normalised and those in power choose to not fund services to improve the lives of those suffering. It's not that I don't agree with the right to die with dignity and assisted, it's just that I know how those in power look to find ways not to fund services for the vulnerable. This would vary by country however you can imagine how this might go in a country like the USA where healthcare is seen as a profitable industry.
''You are looking all from the dark side'', well, if their child took all their money and said ''hey, Pa, I'm going to gamble with this money you earned'', the Pa would also look at that from the dark side, and try to stop the kid, right?
I new the boyfriend of my friend she told me that he had a cat that died carried it around with him for 3 days then some time after he jumped from the flat where he lived he tryed to kill him self it failed he will spend the rest of his live in a care home he is in a worser state than he was before I know he could not go in to open spaces he has to walk around the outside he was 29 years old so sad the fact that he wanted to die has no choice but to live and suffer such a nice sensitive person he was heartbreakung that I was told that then she told me she broke the relationship of I don't know for sure why he tryed to do that 😔😥
Just keep in mind: The last time you didn't exist was followed by a life/ You didn't exist, yet a life was still imposed. So clearly, not existing is incapable of stopping a life from being imposed, or following "non-existence"... All it took to get you was the birth of a life... And plenty of lives will be born after this one ends.
even if that is the case, the movement still makes sense. if one's current life is falling apart and is going to end in death, decay, and more suffering anyway, isn't it rational to just move onto the next life?
@InjectedWithLifemy friend an infinite universe doesn’t mean repeating the same number if you die the next person to have a life is not you that’s how entropy works you don’t get remastered another being comes with different life

I got the do not resusitate form from the hospital and so now if something happens to me they wont try to keep me alive.

How it will be abused by those in power exactly?

Yeah, honesty is poison to even the coolest in this world.
The worst possible scenario to one with any real backbone at all.

It's a sick world when people view other people dying as a form of entertainment. It's disgusting and makes me question humanity's morality.
Humans love suffering death that's why they keep breeding they don't care
They don’t have any

Strange how someone with nothing is happy, and someone with everything is suicidal
