The Citizen Promaster Diver has divided opinion for decades. Seiko SKX fans will just not bow to its charms. This watch was always the better of the two watches, having a hand-winding movement that was far more robust and accurate. The SKX did not hand wind at all. The Italian Navy Frogmen (Marina Militare) actually issued the Citizen Promaster diver to their divers from the mid nineties to the mid noughties, they rated the Citizen NY0040 so highly.
The SKX was outgunned by poor sizing and awful heft on the wrist.
Of course having handled many examples of both, this is my opinion.
