Getting drunk, eating great tasty Japanese food that's cooked right in front of you and being entertained by cool chefs and waiters... That's the kind of night out I prefer rather than going clubbing.
+misskahu Me too!
misskahu us yes yes
After watching this video I decided to go to an Izakaya myself in my area.
A friend of mine and I found a really popular one but we were afraid to get in because we didn't speak Japanese so we figured it would be a little rude for two westerners plus there were even some people waiting outside. So we decided not to enter and we kept walking around to see what we could find. And suddenly we saw a small Izakaya in a little corner. So we came in, there where just some people in one table and a couple at the bar.
So we sat at the bar (as you guys recommended), and we had the best time of our lives. I can't explain how that even happened!
Everything started slow, we couldn't understand the menu so we asked for recommendations. They brought this delicious fish and shrimps and then the lady next to us at the bar explained us how to eat everything and she didn't even speak english. We all started "talking" and asking questions about each other's countries, all with signs, sounds and whatnot because they did;t speak a word of english.
The couple bought us some drinks (Umeshiou!) and at the end we wouldn't stop laughing, yelling, and there was even some dancing. It was my first time seeing a super drunk japanese man. Everything was so much fun and we had this great experience thanks to you :) We already went back other two times.
Thank you so much Simon and Martina!
I want to feast dinner on someone wonderful like you😊
I was in Japan just this past week. I visited Bakawarai with my friend and it was just an incredible experience! we told them we found the izakaya through you guys and I have to say the atmosphere was pretty accurate as described by the video. We also asked about the tuna fish bone keychain and they gave us one!!!
We had no reservation and the store was full, but some of the customers even offered to make space for us but the employees basically made us space on the spot and it was just super nice. The rose-scented oshibori was awesome too
That is amazing to hear!!! It is a super special place right? :D
Does the keychain smell? I really want one 😂😂😂
Orchid Blossom no it doesn't I think, other wise they won't be giving anyone! Cause of smell
these guys have such a good sense of humor! I wish restaurants in the USA were like this, they really put on a show!
The cook is such a happy guys and looks like he just loves his job.
omg the guy that helped with the bowl drink was so cute
YEEEEES
+BlossomFalls360 right I so agreed
I squealed.
Andrea same lol
+BlossomFalls360 yES
We're going to take you to our favorite Izakaya in Tokyo and show you how much fun this place is because DAMN IT'S GREAT!
+Eunice Wong I'm sorry. It's a long story. Eat Your Sushi will be back this Monday, though!
+Simon and Martina almost dropped my iPad... OMG fangirling so hard right now...
Do you guys get paid to be this awesome? Because, you should! lol. Great videos, guys!
+Simon and Martina Don't feel bad if you need to take time off or miss a week if you guys have something going on. Your fans will understand :3
+Simon and Martina Ah yay another video! You guys are great at distracting me from studying and for that, thank you! ^.^
My girlfriend and I just went here during our trip in Japan and had the best meal of our trip! Everyone at the restaurant are exactly how they are in the video! Definitely a must go in Japan! Thanks for the awesome recommendation!
That's some good fucking customer service right there.
Jem Greene you never see bad service in Japan, but these guys were entertainers.
Jem Greene Japan is known for it. Sucks for us who work in the tourism business though. They EXPECT the best. Cause they give no less. Smh.
This video made me so happy :D they seem like such fun people and all the customers looked like they were enjoying themselves. I wouldn't blame you if you went there every day just for the atmosphere!
+Peacockin' we're trying to figure out how often to go there without it seeming weird :)
+Simon and Martina I would be too. such a chill place! did I just say chill? I'm 30 and a teacher.
Three times a week! Monday, thursday and saturday.
You could just wear fake moustaches and random hats....oh and practice your British accents XD. P.s whoop!
+Peacockin' Notice how they werent so friendly and playful with the other customers but only with the two people who have a youtube channel and huge following? In any case, yeah i looks like a great place with great food, but i wouldnt expect that guy to throw the same grand show for every customer.
この二人はマナーも良くてノリも良いですね!凄く好きです!嫌な事もあると思いますがいつまでも日本を好きでいてください!

Thats the most vague thing ever said
🤔
+Ro Choa ALRIGHT GUYS! We've got to find out what he's talking about! When we find the answer, well find out were the constitution is hidden!
+Rainwater I think he means that one character in every anime that acts all cool and is throwing in random English words to sound even "cooler".
+Rainwater hahaha someone tell us what he means
I love how the service in Japan is always so exciting full of shouting and smiles hahah
Thank you to whoever did the English and Polish subtitles! You're all lovely. Thank you :D
+Simon and Martina You're so welcome! Glad I could help with the English subs! :D
+Simon and Martina i'm dazzled over how well this video is edited, great job, you can really tell you've put a lot of effort in this. Bakawarai just got a new customer when i get there!
Izakaya is fish? 이자카야는 생성인가요?

+Exo-L Exo 👏👏😁😁
Even though this kind of food is not my thing, I love how excited the guy is about his work. When a food place has employees like that, it just makes the whole experience better.
My hubby, son and myself went to Japan for the first time in April of this year. We went to Kichijoji just to go to this Izakaya. We had the time of our lives, it really is a great place.
The workers at the restaurant seem very nice and fun. They know how to make good food and keep their customers entertained at the same time haha. Thanks for sharing :)
+mzsindee
Let's hope they are like that too when there's no camera team around.
this place: definitely my first stop in Japan next year... i LOVE the atmosphere 🤘🏻😭 thank you for sharing this awesome place with us... LOVE YOU GUYS
+maria stamba I hope you like it there!

The food videos are getting better and i love it!
+Sim Melanie I'm glad!
Hi Simon and Martina! Thank you so so much for sharing your favorite izakaya! Luckily, I saw your video before our last day in Japan. My boyfriend and I made it a mission to go and had the BEST bar experience we ever had together! We even got t-shirts! We visited this past Saturday and let them know you guys sent us there! They were like "THE CANADIANS!!!" My boyfriend was so impressed he said he'll definitely subscribe to you guys ^_^ I don't often comment but I always make sure to keep up with your adventures. Once again thank you so much for the recommendation and I hope I get to meet you guys the next time I'm in Japan!!
this is so cute
I'm so jealous 😭 they are enjoying their job and they are happy when they cook for other people 😍 i want to have a job that I love too 😭😭
Thank you very much for introducing this amazing place!
I have been to this izakaya 4 times and I am still loving it.
It became a must-go spot every time when I traveled to Tokyo.
Quality time was spent here with all my friends and family, and I even made some Japanese friends there sitting in the counter seats.
Once again, this place is fantastic and thanks for your recommendation!
This place has such a fun atmosphere and they are so friendly to you guys!
Simon, I remember when you started this page you were saying Martina is the social butterfly and you're reserved and nervous in environments with new people. In videos like this it makes me so happy to see you flourishing and being social, and having fun.
The chef is so cool!!! It's very entertaining just to watch him cooking :DD He must be that kind of person who can cheer you up after having a bad day :)))
The music and overall quality on this video is amaaaaaaazing.
+Edith Ibarra thank you!
I am SO going here when i visit japan. you guys know how to advertise and i trust your recommendations fully. That place looks amazing!!
Yeah so good to see you guys have such a smile on your face! Looks al so good. And the good service does so much. What a showman.
This is one of your best food videos to date! Also the production values are going up and up!
This is the funnest restaurant i’ve ever been to... virtually!
I sometimes don't want to watch your videos because it then gives me the urge to go to Japan😭 It looks so much fun there and the food looks amazing!!! I wish to go there someday!
Congrats on 1 million subscribers!!!
+Grodoz thank you!
You guys almost have 1,000,00 subscribers! I remember when I first watched you guys and you guys had around 500,00 subs. Keep up the good work!
+Leon Zhu you've been with us for a long time now. Thank you!

It's done

Love from Indonesia!!
Terima kasih :)
They seem so welcoming in japan!
You know, I always find myself coming back to this video when I'm feeling sad or bored. It just lightens up my spirits. I dunno why. There's just something about it that I love so much. Literally my favorite video you two (technically three, I didn't forget you, Dan) have ever released.
If you come to Japan someday, I will take you to this type of bar and wanna toast with you!😊
Thanks for showing us around...looks like you had a wonderful time....Enjoy your day!
That guy seems to enjoy his work a lot...I like that! I really wish to visit Japan asap 😮
Japan's such a badass country. Like that one guy at the counter smoking a cigarette with his fur coat on and those friendly servers with the hyped English
I can't recommend enough coming to Japan
That guy sitting next to Simon at the end was really cute.
I thought the cook was very good looking too!!!
James Gieratz I was so focused on Simon's neighbor I didn't even notice, haha, I'll have to re-watch!
+James Gieratz Ah, yes, he was handsome! I'm really into the kind of "pretty boy" facial features, though, so I think that's why Mr. Blue Shirt appeals to me so much.
Oh my gawd, I can't even begin to explain how glad I am that I found your guy's channel. I've been suffering serious wanderlust for the past few weeks now because of your videos. This izakaya is almost sealing the deal for me.
I feel like their showmanship is the cherry on top of what looks like delicious delicious food :)
1. Where did you get your nails did?
2. Can you also recommend vegetarian places in Tokyo/Japan?
3. I love you guys. Where were you my entire life? I'm so glad I stumbled upon this channel. I subscribed instantly. _Instantly._
That egg was so beautiful. Oh my gosh. I'm going to cry.
AWW "good luck!" AND THE GIRL SMILING AND SAYING " thank you! " AWESOME!!
I love how the Japanese Chef is interacting with you guys....so welcoming and inclusive ^.^

I cry a little bit inside knowing I'll never get to travel or go on awesome adventures like this- and I'm already 30.
I shall continue to live vicariously.
+Rebecca “Java” J it's never too late to visit Japan!
NSX-R Time is not an issue. It's money. Always comes down to money.
With only a few months of work on a minimum wage job, you can absolutely do it.
I was having withdrawal symptoms.....thank god you posted and giving me the cultural fix.
+Thomas Vu Sorry we took so long! We had a bizarre week. But we've got lots of videos filmed that we're working on now!
It is alright fam...as long you brought the goods lol
omg everyone is so nice there I can't wait to go to Japan at least once in my life
The camera work, editing and musical accompaniment are so awesome! I especially like 6:05. Really captures the atmosphere.
watch this atleast twice a week. makes me super happy.
me and my boyfriend was here last year and they immediately asked us “simon? youtube?” probs cause my hair was some weird color and both of us was covered in tattoos lol it was so fun!! we flipped our own omelet and all the food was AMAZING. but the chef was what really made it 🖤
9k till 1 million subs!! Congrats in advance guys :)!
lol, they were so buzzed by the end of this video, and I absolutely love it!
i was on the fence before about how i felt about you guys... but you have both definetly won me over.. i love you guys!
Hurrah!!
I'm planning a trip to Japan for 2017 and I will absolutely add this to my list of places to visit while in Tokyo! I love izakayas in general and this place look spectacular! Thank you!
Wow!!!! The food looks so good!!! Your so lucky to fine a place that makes food look so wonderful and one can almost smell the cooking right infront of you!!!! Your both so cool. Thank you!!!!.
Awsome music at the start of video. Super new editing.
The ambiance seems so fantastic. The staff know how to throw a party! They're so funny. I had to watch this video a second time because the vibe was so cool. Or is my life too boring. I need to find a place like that in London!!
Thank you! I am (it's Martina talking here) trying a new style of editing! :) I want to capture both the amazing atmosphere and the delciious food without making it feel boring. I hope it's working! And exactly like you're saying, it's all about the awesome staff at this restaurant that know how to through a party and make everyone feel welcome. :D
New subscriber. Oh boy is my weekend now full. Gonna go back and watch as many previous videos as I can!!
Welcome :)
My husband and I are going to Japan in July, Im so exited to watch your videos and get ideas of what to do in our trip. This place looks amazing, its def going in out to do list.
I just found you guys. How is that possible? I watch everything Japan!! These videos are so happy and entertaining. Subbed, kids!
Ahh, I don't drink but this place has such a nice atmosphere. I think I'm too shy to be around such extroverted people, but maybe one day..
I always watch S+M when I'm hungry. After years, I keep making this rookie mistake..
This place seems so amazing and the people are so nice. :D
Oh man. All that food looked so amazing. Keep these videos comin'. My tastebuds are living vicariously through you.
I was just, re watching all your videos in japan because I'm travelling there this week :D
And a decided to leave a comment that will probably be not noticed but don't care, but my internet is slow right now so I'm waiting for the video to load.
Dear Simon and Martina, I don't think you can even imagine how much I appreciate you, you kept me company during the worse. You are so down to earth that I just feel like you are two friends that I just haven't had the opportunity to meet yet. I always try to leave nice comments to give you back a bit of what you give me.
Thanks for the videos, thanks for showing me different cultures, for the laughts and also thanks for dealing with really important issues, you have made me feel more confortable about myself.
Thank you +Lucie Schima, +Elena Ganea, and +SaamOC for the French subtitles! I've seen you put subtitles on other videos as well, and we really appreciate it. Thank you :D
The guy in 6:25 was cute. He kinda looks like Oikawa from Haikyuu.
I absolutely love how friendly they are, though I'd probably feel awkward AF :p. That random dude that helped Simon with the bowl, getting a fishbone keychain, just the overall friendliness of the people working there, perfect
Thanks to this video I went to this izakaya in March this year, and it was exactly the experience in this video! We couldn’t get enough of the place and loved the vibe and the people so much. We had so much fun here, and would definitely recommend it. Thanks Simon and Martina!
this is amazing... it looks like a place that came out of a movie... I MUST go there when I visit Japan
ugh everything looks amazing!!
I love your videos guys! i havent got the chance to go to japan and korea due to me busy studying, but when i watch your videos I feel like im also there hahaha!
I've watched almost all of your videos in the past five days. Now that you're in Japan, can you please do a video on Sake, the different types and Sake future, please? Thanks!
+Nicholas Seeley As we get a better understanding of sake, we will for sure! FOR SCIENCE!!!
and by Sake "future" I mean culture, cause what is culture other than the future....??
You've already been at the sake haven't you? lol
It's clear liquid. How was I to know i wasn't drinking a bottle of water?
I love their energy! They're so welcoming
Ahhh this was the best video ever!! Love how the guy was helping by tipping the bowl to get the sake out. So much fun energy in this video!!
German subs now up, too! Thank you for making them :D
+Simon and Martina And now Swedish subtitles are up as well. Thank you!
+Simon and Martina And now Turkish subs! Thank you for those, too! You're all great!
+Simon and Martina hi bruh make a ramen vid please
WHY ARE ALL JAPANESE PEOPLE SO NICE WOW
The Japanese culture is mostly based on respect, honor and kindness towards other people :)
+Chris
But you encounter in disappointment to the scene . For example, the train
It is rarely cede the seat to the elderly Japanese adults
Not all, there's rude japanese people too. There's bad people everywhere honestly, but Generally Japan seems a lot nicer compare to other countries.
PREJUDICE WOW SUCH MUCH
Kun Otemo u were wrong..yhis old people who survived world war were so pround of they self that thry wil purposely decline if a younger lad offer them a seat....and a younger generation know about this....get ur fact stright...use google if u know what it is..
That guy worker that gave you most of your food and drink is so freakin nice and funny I would enjoy being served by him any day with such high spirit and joy even if the food isn't the healthiest :D
thanks for the recommendation guys! We tried this place and it lived up to expectations. The food was delicious and the staff were super friendly. There's a general good vibe, we made friends with some other foreigners and made some small talk with some Japanese.
So close to 1 million subscribers congratulations Simon and Martina!!
this was HYPEEEE as FUCK!!!
CAN'T WAIT TO GO TO JAPAN!!!
LOVE YOU GUYS
"My assistant"

I always seem to come back to this video and it always puts a smile on my face, in a world full of doom and gloom it's nice to see that some people are still good
I miss how simon used to be... He was so full of life in videos....

Japan is the beeeeessstttt
Omg I'm soo agree with you, Bakawarai is the best izakaya ever! I mean, the guys really lit up the place and of course the food was amazing! Wish I had more time there!

I want to throw a tantrum and cry because I want to be in Japan eating THIS.
3:31Bwahaha! They have Tou-san from Osomatsu hanging next to their bacon. That's amazing.
I knew it :v
Actually, he is Bakabon's Papa in Tensai Bakabon. Some characters appear in other Akatsuka's manga.
catnip3141 Okay? He's still in Osomatsu-san.
+Kris Jai OK! It is just my perception. I grew up with Osomatsu-kun and Tensai Bakabon.
the guy that helped Simon with the bowl was super cute!
MY GOD THIS LOOKS SO AWESOME!! THE FOOD LOOKS SO DELICIOUS AND THE PEOPLE ARE SO WELCOMING! THANKS FOR THE VIDEO GUYS!!
Great video guys, I have been a long time fan and since you moved to Japan I haven't been too thrilled with the new eat your sushi format, but that was a amazing video.
