We Failed.. We’re Quitting RV Life - Thoughts After Living in Our Camper FULL-TIME for 2 YEARS!

  • We've been living full-time in our RV for over TWO YEARS now and we’re finally throwing in the towel. We set off with the goal to travel to all 50 states in a year…and now, 2 years later, we’re not even close to that goal. We’ve had so many amazing experiences during our RV travels, but we’ve also had a lot of struggles and heartache and we’re finally ready for a new chapter. We’ll be taking one last camper van trip, but before we hit the road, we wanted to share our experience of living full time in an RV for so long.

Totally agree with that, 600,000+ subscribers is not a fail in only two years, and you still have 16 states to visit, which if the math is right you should kill this year. WE all get lows in out life that make us re-think our life, but you shouldn't give up just like that, that's where depression starts. Our parents pass away, but we still have to carry on, don't ever forget them, their memories are precious, but you also have your lives to live so keep living it. Step back a little, and re-think, but never think later on "what If?". Maybe you should take a leaf out of the "Travel Beans" book, and try and find a permanent base, with the proviso of further travels when the need arises.

A bit of advice if I may... my wife and I have renovated 26 different properties over 34 years of marriage. So when you get your house or cabin, it's pretty obvious what your next adventure is going to be because you guys have been looking for a house for quite a while, but anyways, from experience talking my wife and I would suggest that if you plan on having a hot tub don't wait until the house is done. Pretty much do your hot tub up front because you're going to want it so many days after a long day's work on the house. Enjoy the journey, enjoy the adventure! And God be with you in whatever you may do!

I'm so grateful that this community has been so supportive. You guys need to do whatever you need to do and that might change and that's okay. We are here for YOU. Full time RV life is a lot! But at least now you have this beautiful, ready to go RV so when you decide to take a road trip, be that for two weeks or six months, you've got Clementine and Ruby! And favorite part? There were some hilarious (for us) bits in the rv renovation and a lot of "oh man!" moments like when the door sliced Eric's arm or all the shredded beef flooring. But as far as travel, we enjoyed California and Utah. Super fun to see a part of my state I haven't really traveled to and also Moab, which is on our list!

So I totally get them getting emotional, and it's fine to show it. In tv shows I often see people saying sorry when they start to cry. Don't say sorry, it's totally fine. Tears are a coping mechanism, it reliefs the tension. ❤

Two things come to mind. One, you lived an adventure of your own choosing and stuck with it for two years. Two, my wife and I found ourselves literally living out of our 30 year old RV, one major breakdown away from homelessness, while we struggled to get our act together after my mother died and we were forced to sell her house. It took nearly two years, through the winter of 16 through the last week of 18' when we moved into our first house. Oh, and we're in our 50's. We'd moved in after my dad died, to look after mom. Then found that rent had damn near doubled, that our credit rating was crap, and having spent most of my adult life convincing myself that "I" could never own a home. Well, the RV's long gone, sold during the pandemic to a lady who needed it, and we're past our 5th year in this house, modest as it is, I am deeply grateful for having a permanent home of my own.
You two have a lot going for you, including your youth. If I can offer any advice, it would be, "Don't give up; don't ever forget, that there are worse fates than giving up the RV life. Those memories will carry the two of you through any hardship."
Anyway, good luck in your next stage of life.

I just want to say, never apologize for feeling your feelings!
You don’t know this, but you helped me through the roughest year of my life back in 2020.
I lost my father in July 2020 and my mother in December 2020.
They were in their early 90s, so they lived long, wonderful lives. And I feel blessed that mom didn’t have to endure the loss of her hubby for too long.
Still a horrific year for me.
During that time, I was working full time and doing my best to manage their care through their health needs given the restraints of the Covid era.
    During 2020,
You, along with some other YT “friends” gave me something to look forward to each evening, a touch base, a sense of community, a distraction from my day to day life.
So please NEVER apologize for feeling your feelings with us, your community! Because I’m sure I’m not the only one you have helped through dark times.
The least we can do, is be there for you too! ❤❤❤
I wish you all best for what’s in your future! (And can’t wait to see what’s next fir you!)

Please do not give up your rv. What you should do is buy a piece of land a couple acres and slowly build a house and you can live in your RV while you are building your house, once your house is done if you get into an argument then one of you can go stay in the RV or you could rent it out to people to camp on the edge of your property. Not to drive off with but just to camp in for the weekend or for the week. It's just too beautiful inside to get rid of. ❤🇺🇸🙏🏻👍🏻

My adult son and I have been on the road in central Mexico in our 1989 Class C RV for 1.5 years now. We run our online business from the road and ended up getting Starlink (1/2 the price in Mexico) which has been a game-changer. All is going pretty well but we also only drive a few days to new destinations and then stay weeks or (in this case) months when we find a good location. Currently we are in Santa Maria del Tule, Oaxaca...

While I get the constant slog of traveling and driving... I have no idea how you could determine you failed at this. You have adapted, improvised, and overcome many challenges on the road. Was it everything you hoped, probably not. But you did name your channel The Endless Adventure... nobody ever said that adventure was also smooth sailing! From my point of view you have totally rocked the "adventure" portion of your channel! And, you gracefully took us along for the ride! What I like about your channel is that you share your wins and losses. You don't try to fully paint a life on the road as picture-perfect. This is important because many people these days don't see that people are dealing with some challenges and how to deal with them. While we don't see all the details, (which is fine), your attitudes around the challenges are encouraging to others. So this is definitely NOT a failure. I'm sad to hear the news of less travel, but, I am open to other new adventures that you can share, and look forward to seeing what you've got going on! And honestly, it takes courage to pivot when you have a successful channel like this where people come to see what you're up to on the road. So congrats for living your life the way you want to and sharing it with us!
