the Suzuki is the best off-road followed by the diahatsu and Mitsubishi
$12,000 is a lot for kei van.

@@Waybeforethefame I own a bunch of kei stuff and cars in general. If you like your van you should check out the Nissan elgrand.
Slightly larger then a kei van but not big by American standards. Mine is a 3.2 liter turbo diesel with 4x4. The seats spin around and it is meant to go up and down the highway. The extra quite heavy duty diesel get between 26 and 30 mpg.. These were the high end vans of time. Soft close sliding doors, auto headlights, electric fold in side mirrors, navigation, dual sunroofs. All 3 row slide forward and backwards. My 1997 is clean, it's the first year of the elgrand.

I like that you ranked then on value. Even though the HiJet van is down on features, I'd still choose it for Toyota reliability and solid build quality. I think it might last longer. I'd mostly use it as a two seater and I'd like to be able to pull of the rear seats to make a minimalist apocalypse RV or low cost and cheap to keep overlander mini. I like that it's not full time 4WD. That should get a little more power or fuel economy, depending on how you drive it.

Buying a decent condition low mileage for under $1000 in japan seems impossible nowadays. Right now I’m seeing these vans go from $2500 and $4500 before shipping. After shipping, customs fees, registration and title fees, boat yard escort fees, port fees, truck and trailer rentals will end up near 6-7k total. 8k Seems reasonable. It still very possible to find killer deals through private sales simply because the owner wants to get rid of it.

As far as worth, it'd be the blue Suzuki all day long, followed by the white Suzuki, then the Hijet, and then your Bravo. As far as "want it" factor, it'd be blue Suzuki, white Suzuki, with the Bravo and Hijet tied. I know that tie is a little weird, but I don't know if I'd need or want all those amenities. ive got my eye on the last one you tested but its rwd but its in great condition and 41k miles and £6500 ($8,256.30) so more than you pay in usa but in Europe things can cost more. with all nanny speed limits and cameras i might as well have a motor what sounds fun and work hard and not risk a speed ticket and easy turn in to micro camper as seats fold flat so bed end goes in middle between bed and units and slots in to place when you want it as bed. still working out costs as in Europe we have a fraud clean air zones in big city's so if you got car what not exempt a euro 4 or newer engine or euro 6 if diesel if you fall out that bracket it £12 per a city just to drive and more and more city's are doing it and it be what i plan to keep for very long time so i got to find one what fits in the reg so no daily charge but some kei vans do pay no tax because loop hole its reg saying 0 co2 so o tax and exempt in these zones so got to try to get one those if i want to keep costs low long term something in usa you do not have to think about. it rare i go in to a city or big town but even towns have talks about doing it a fraud for sure a money grab, road tax for one ive seen not sure as no tags to check till i call but it could be free it could be £170-190 a year not inc city charges if it not exempt, but one van i got on tab and lot interest in is the SUZUKI EVERY CARRY high roof just like the one you tested last but its rwd only so if costs work out good and not extra crazy charges i prob will get as love the sound these make and on road trip i cut down on accommodation costs too and easy just go have a night away at the only cost i bit fuel and they not crazy fast so less chance speeding ticket
