I do! I love mine BUT I can't figure out how to get my LOGIC effects to come through the headphones. I hear the click and I hear the other music already recorded but not my guitar sim amp in Logic Pro.After I record I can then hear it but not before or during. ???? what do I do?
@@Bflatest This is a setting in Logic. Probably your software monitoring is not switched on in Logic.
@@RMEAudio Odd It was working last week but now no. I clicked the little i icon on the track as I record but nothing.
@@Bflatest Did you aslo activated it in the general preferences of Logic?; Preferences->Audio->General
I will look tonight But I never changed it and it was working on my other old audio card @@RMEAudio
As a German I definitely recognize this approach. Highly technical and hard to learn but unlimited options.
I just bought the ucx ll and these videos are very helpful because total mix is a bit dense but I am starting to work my way around it. You have to really read the manual and experiment with the settings. The old school method of turn the knobs all the way just to see what it does. I have admit my headphones and monitors never sounded better and clearer.

Great video. Butt you should do a dedicated hide button for channels in the UIin the UI. Also add muliselect minimize. And maybe a tooltip for Ctrl Minimize?
I would like to see a video for a home studio setup with a UFX multiple hardware synth inputs, guitar amp inputs and how you can just use your UFX as a mixer for replacing a typical mixer. Also, does total mix support an external control surface that could drive the faders, etc.

TotalMix can be controlled with external Midi controllers (also the faders). A description and a list of the available Midi commands can be found in the manual.
Great video! Would love to see a feature where the "pull down" routing menu's reference the Channel Layout User Names for channels instead of always referencing the original names. Would also appreciate being able to re-order tracks.

Thanks for this new series of videos. I second the suggestion above - it's great to be able to put custom names for channels but a bit disappointing that these custom names don't show up on the pull-down menu.
@@bassplayer9432 Yes, they do in the channel layout window. Or do you mean a different pull down menu?
@@RMEAudio I'll give you a quick example - I have renamed the "AN 1/2" output to "Main Speakers" and "PH 7/8" to "Phones". These names appear correctly in the hardware outputs section of TotalMix FX above their respective channel fader. Now let's say I want to adjust where my "Mic 1" hardware input goes to. I can either click on an output channel on totalmix fx then adjust the fader of the Mic 1 input channel. Or I can first click on the Mic 1 channel and then click the pull down menu that is just under the fader numerical value to select which output I am adjusting the levels for. This is where the custom names don't appear - it still says "AN 1/2" or "PH 7/8" instead of "Main Speakers" and "Phones". Hope this makes sense!
@@bassplayer9432 Yes, now i understand. That is indeed not implemented because most users are using the first routing method you mentioned or the matrix method where the names are also visible. This might be something for the 'to-do" list.
Hi, great videos! Is it possible to rename a track so that the custom names work in both mono and stereo? For instance, when I rename my mono inputs Mic 1 & Mic 2, and then switch back to stereo, the stereo track is just labeled Mic 1. And conversely, if I rename the stereo track Mic 1/2, when I spilt to mono then the left mono track is still called Mic 1/2. Hmm… thanks!
So Layout Presets are just for recalling channels that've been hidden from within the Options/Channel Layout popup as well as an All (channels visible) button and a Sub button which shows channels routed to the current submix, right? They're not for minimized channels or volume or mutes - that's Snapshots and above which is Workspaces, no? I tried minimizing channels and saving it to a Layout Preset then got confused when it didn't work as expected. Pretty sure I understand these now.
Renaming channels doesn't work on my Babyface Totalmix in the way you say it will. I click on the channel top like you demonstrate but I get a different box with three options "Change Channel Layout" "Clear Instrument Mix" and ""Copy Input" , I don't get the box shown in your video where you can type a name. - Please advise.

Hey, I have one question: Software Playback 1 is Ableton; Software Playback 2 is Mac. Who you route Mac to SW PB 2?

I'm trying to configure two cues to send two headphones separately to the musicians in the room ... I find myself on the rme UFX board two outputs 5 and 6
I tried to configure them stereo by setting 5/6 on the total mix (and relative cubase output) but I can't set them individually like 5 left 5 right necessarily sees me 5/6 stereo.
I tried with mono putting left and right but the headphones work i on cue 1.
How do I have to set exactly to have them separately? on two channels cue 1 out 5 (1 headphones on one channel) and cue 2 output 6 (2 headphones)

How do you change the order of the channels in otalmixFX? IE: MIC 2 MIC1 ADAT 5/6 ADAT 3/4
Hello, any chance to have the possibility to change channel colours when you choose and output? When recording, switching between your master output to headphones or other outputs can be a little dangerous. You have to check each time on which output channel you re on. Maybe a different colors for each output mixes?

I'm unbelievably confused. Sorry im a total noob. I've come from a scarlet 2i4.
1. I have no idea how to assign a channel for headphones. My headphones arent creating sound when plugged in.
2. My rme wont work outside of my daw for my standalone vsts so i always have to open a cubase session in order to play guitar through Guitar rig etc.

It appears that channel levels saved in the 8 snapshots remain intact regardless of which layout is selected. Is this correct?

With RME it doesn't matter because of our Steadyclock technology.
I have been using the Fireface UC for several years, but only in its most basic functions. The audio quality is superb, but TotalMix has been extremely confusing to me. The tutorials and the documentation leave terms unexplained or incompletely described. For example, there was no indication why the FX icon displays on my TotalMix. It took an hour to figure out the feature is unavailable for the UC, but it remains displayed. I also dislike the limited sizing options which make the application appear too large or too small on my screen. What does M S and F mean about the Routing Mode? And try figuring out how to route an outboard pedal effect from one input to an output and record the signal with the effect. I still can't do it. And I am bewildered at how my volume levels change almost mysteriously when I change a mix and it takes 20 minutes to figure out what is actually going on. I'm so very disappointed with this piece of software and I wouldn't buy an RME product again.

Hi guys. Using TotalMix FX on PC, revision 125, and the layouts presets don't seem to work. Changing the layout, storing them properly (as demonstrated) in slots, but nothing changes when I recall an earlier preset. What am I doing wrong ? thanks...
This is the hardware revision 125, important is the TotalMix FX version. In TotalMix FX go to "Help" - "About...". Please download the latest driver for your interface from the homepage and install it. TotalMix FX is included in the driver.

Thank you for this video. Unfortunately, as others have commented, the awful background “music” is very distracting.
These are excellent, informative videos. However, rather ironically for a top rated audio equipment manufacturer, the sound quality is variable from poor to just about acceptable. I cannot watch these on my ipads without straining to hear because the volume levels are generally (but not always) too low such as here. Also, the TotalMix FX screen shot resolution is quite low definition when viewed on a hi-res monitor. With such a complex interface it definitely needs to be sharper so one can see clearly what is going on.

Yes, that is possible on the Mic/Line inputs and the Line/Instrument inputs.

@@Biosynth You can only add gain on analog inputs. MADI FX has digital inputs only. The MADI FX has also no digital trim on the inputs.You need to add gain in your Analog-digital converter connected to the MADI FX.

TotalMix FX only works with RME interfaces.
Is saving a layout the same as saving a snapshot?
The layout are just the visible faders. A snapshot includes also fader and mixers settings, e.g. levels.
@@RMEAudio But changing the layout (including mixer settings, eq, comp etc.) and saving as a snapshot does not seem to save the layout(?). In other words:
Layout saving saves the channel layout. Snapshots saves the channel settings. So a snapshot does not "also" include the actual layout. These are separate functions.
Why do I not see the EQ or Dynamics tabs on my Total Mix FX Software?
What interface do you work with? Not all interfaces have EQ and Dynamics.

Why is your TMFX screen stacked in three layers, and mine is laid out in two layers, and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to make it look like yours??
Either you have activated the 2ROW mode (blue box on the righthand side) or you are using TotalMix FX in DAW mode.
