    When I got home with my Prevost, one of the tag axle airbags was leaking, and they all showed some form of dry rot. I decided to shotgun it and replace them all. In this video, I show how you do it with some tips and tricks along the way.

    Love your videos, great explanation of everything and that detail is often missed. I wouldn’t mind seeing more of the “work” sometimes it helps to see the way you might approach certain struggles. Very well done!

      I’m glad you enjoy my videos, and thanks for the feedback. When you say you’d like to see more of the “work”, are you talking about more real time (not fast) wrench turning/working, like getting the push to release air hose off during the first part of this video? I tend to struggle with how much of that to put in because I try to not let my videos get too long. But if some extra length is ok with some more work that’s great feedback to have. Thanks again for watching!

      Yes more realtime I think, it’s a difficult balance for sure, some videos (not your videos others on this topic) show wayyy too much and I find myself fast forwarding through ten to fifteen minutes. Yours I find myself wanting a little more. I cannot say for sure how to achieve that, I do like the fast forward approach you have implemented. I will also say I am for certain a future prevost owner and I am very much interested in your content, so that skews my views on the subject. If you are an engineer like I am, you want to know the “problem” but not told the solution :) I cannot say enough how great your videos are!

      Thanks again for the feedback. I’ve got more videos coming up and I’ll try to get more wrenching video in those, it appreciate feedback if you think those hit the balance better.
      And yes, I’m an engineer (mechanical by schooling and a systems engineer for most of my career) so I always am looking at the “why” and the systems design/operation. I try to put that in my videos as well.

    You show that it's doable, very cool! What would be a great last second comments at the end is what you saved by DIY This labor alone I'm sure is insane lol

      current shop rate is $185 an hour on avg

    • @TedsGarage
      @TedsGarage  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I’m sure that the shop cost would be far more than I spent on the airbags. Being able to do this and other work myself is huge.

    Ted, I love your videos I have a 2006 Prevost H3-45 and would love to see a video on your process for an Oil change along with what filters need to be addressed. Thanks, Rick

      Thanks for the suggestion, Rick. I’ll add that to my list. I was actually debating whether I should do a video on the oil change on this bus when I do it or not, so your request is appreciated and timely!

    The work itself is not difficult but it is imperative that you are able to do the work safely. I have an '89 XL and I would love to do my all my own work on my old Prevost but I don't have the space yet.

    • @TedsGarage
      @TedsGarage  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, you definitely need to be able to do this safely. I wouldn’t want to do it on dirt but so long as you have a hard packed surface or concrete you can do the work outdoors.

    Can you add the part numbers front the airbags front drive and tag

    • @TedsGarage
      @TedsGarage  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I try not to put in part numbers of that sort in my videos since I can't tell you if they're universal across all Prevosts, and when those part numbers may have had breaks based on serial numbers. The big thing is I got the updated front springs (63-0151 Prevost PN) vs whatever the original stock ones were.
      The Prevost support is really excellent. If you go to www.prevostcar.com you can create a login (it's free) and that gives you access to the parts catalog to search through the different options. I've been extremely happy with ordering parts from Prevost direct thus far.

    Can't you just put Fix-a-Flat in the old bags? I don't think this is a job I'll be tackling. BUT, I will call you when it needs doing. Thanks for the video.

    Problem with air bags is usuly bad control valves.

  • @AKArcticEngineer

    I’m in the middle of doing my XL2 front bags and can’t seem to get the A arms extended down far enough to fit the old bags out the side. Wheels are off both sides, disconnected shocks so they don’t bind. Supported only on the body. Any suggestions?

    • @TedsGarage
      @TedsGarage  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Keep on watching - when I get to the fronts I explain how I did it. With the airbags still in place, manually raise the ride height from the front. This will push the lower control arms down further. You probably won't get enough force with a breaker bar trying to do it by hand.

      It worked perfectly. We are on vacation in Vegas so I have only hand tools with me but we got it done. Prevost shipped the bags to a UPS store. Thank you so much for this video, I never would have attempted this without the confidence gain of seeing it done.
