Thank you so much for this information, Flo. I hardly comment on social media but I’m forced to comment today. You’re one of the most honest Nigerians I have ever seen, whether it’s your food channel and now this finance channel. You’re very intelligent and very beautiful inside out. May God bless you, your family and the work of your hands. Amen. Please if/when you can, please make a plastering video. Thanks again and keep up the good works!!
Tiles come in different sizes, mm, cm, m, inches etc. The easiest thing to do is know the total floor/wall area of the room(s) you want to tile. Divide the total area of the floor/wall by the area of the individual tile's area and you will have the approximate number of tiles required. Always good to allow for extra tiles, up to 10% more for replacing accidentally damaged tiles and for future maintenance.
Your video is very easy to follow and understand. You really are touching on the practical issues and problems of building a house. The way you broke down the material estimates and costing is awesome. While some people may find the arithmetic difficult, I am reminded of the days in primary school, when we did this type of exercise under Mensuration - area of floor, how much tiles/carpet to cover, cost of a bag of cement/how many blocks per bag, etc. I am not an architect or quantity surveyor but I have served at building sites and I have applied this aspect of primary school arithmetic in my personal building projects from bags of cement/number of blocks to area of roof/roofing sheets needed, etc. From experience, not all tilers have a good grasp of mensuration. The result is usually overestimation or underestimation of materials. So when they tell "Boss, the material no reach, we need to buy more," they merely guessed the quantity. Merci.
Thanks very much Flo! This video is very helpful and educative for builders especially those that are not there when tiling their house. I love the way you specifically explain the topic with informative values. Much love 😍 😍 😍 😍 😍
I’m impressed with the way we use tiles in houses. My sister tiled the whole living room floor and it is very beautiful. I worried about babies falling and hitting heads on it. Visually very appealing. Thanks for the information.
I think it all comes in 1.44sqm per box/carton. The only difference is that bigger ones are fewer in a box than the smaller ones. 120cm x 120cm comes one piece per box or carton and 60cm x 120cm comes in 2 pieces per carton and 60cm x 60cm comes in 4 pieces and so own. So when they give you the number of your house total sqm, you have to divide it by 1.44sqm which is number of sqm per carton to get the number of carton you need in addition to few extra cartons for skirting.
The sellers told us different figures for the cartons for different dimensions of tiles but ok. The most important thing if for people to be aware that the price they quote in the market is the cost PER SQUARE METER and they will still need to calculate the cost per carton.
Tiles are sold per carton/box, the only difference being the total floor coverage per carton depending on the choice of tile. It is the workmanship for tiling that are charged per square meter. Cheers!
@@FloFinance Yes, the price is per sqm, then they calculate it by how many sqm they have inside the box which is usually 1.44sqm no matter the size it comes in. That’s why the smaller size tiles are many inside box while big size are few. If they tell you 5,500 for 60cm x 60 cm you will have to multiply 5,500 x 1.44 to get the price of a carton/box
@@snoppydon Wrong, how do you get the quotation of what you need if it’s not calculated by sqm? You first measure the sqm space you want to cover before going to buy tiles. Even those sellers order by sqm from the company. The tilers all charges by sqm too
It's the same as this one. Once you know the area of the space you are tiling, choose tiles and calculate the number of cartons you need based on that.
Well done my beautiful sister FLO, Building a house from foundation to roofing is easy, doing the other like POP, TILES, E. T. C is the KOKO of it all. Thank you JESUS for Everything, I have gone pass that stage in life. GOOD LUCK to all those that are Building now OR about to start BUILDING.

Hey Sis 👋 Chai all these details is scarring me off from any thoughts of building. I am so bad with math. BTW, I prefer hardwood or hardwood laminate for my flooring and tiles for just the bathrooms.
Thanks sis for this video, do you have a contact for a any good tiler, not the ones you used in your house cos, I heard you complaining about them? I’ll really appreciate it and thanks in advance!
That your calculation was totally wrong. 1 carton = 1.8 sq.m Area to cover = 78 sq. m 78 / 1.8 = 43.3 sqm 1 carton = 1.8sqm = 8,000 Total cost = 8,000 x 44 352,000
Please be civilised in this ur talk by put down a telephone number for a contact than putting email address, unless u are not for real or what are u afraid of by buying a sim card to be doing what u are doing here,so pls a phone number, thanks.

Yes, tiles are the most expensive fittings to install.
Please is it advisable to do POP before doing the tilling ?
Flo you are wonderful and helpful, I love what you do

Thanks for sharing Flo 👍
Well done Flo
Very educational
This information is so useful
Just know the total sqf/sqm of where you want to tile and know the sqf/sqm of a pack of tile you intend to buy.
Great video
Hello Madam. Please I will appreciate it if you could make a cost estimate on building a wedding hall for guests of 300, 400 or 500. Thanks

Just get yourself a digital measuring tool, it solves all this confusion
but a tiller may just go to the building & take the measurement ! is it not not better?
I wish you talk about plastering cost estimates
Tiles now is expensive
Ahahahaha, even I don't trust myself sometimes talkless of someone else. These people just believe money is flowing from the sky.
Nigerians like weird colors. It is very hard to find affordable simple plain white tiles, black tiles, and grey tiles.

No. N8,000 is the price of 1 sq meter not 1 carton.
I noticed it too when she said ( devide)
