    We have the i7+ for a year now. It does our whole first floor. We have it set to run daily at midnight to make sure everyone sleep. It does the kitchen and foyer which takes about 35 mins. On Tues and Fri it does the WHOLE house including fam room, dining, living room which takes about 2.5 hours because it has to return to the base and recharge then come back and finish the job. We turn the chairs on our kitchen island and kitchen dinnette upside down on the table each night so it can reach more of those areas. Also twice a week we turn the chairs on the dining room set upside down on the table so it can clean that well too. The thing is AMAZING. The only thing I would say is if you have kids make sure they get all their little tiny toys and stuff off the floor because it has occasionally gotten some of my girls hair scrunchies stuck in the rollers and it will clog it up, also has gotten those plastic grocery bags stuck in the rotor and stop too. Also it will require you to do maintenance and replace rollers, that little corner brush it uses, filters, and the front wheel too. I found out the hard way to just use the official ROOMBA rollers because we were trying to be cheap and buy those aftermarket rollers and the thing makes HORRIBLE noises like it was dying so we went and bought the OFFICIAL rollers and its back to normal.

    • @philm325
      @philm325 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree with buying official rollers, tried the cheap ones. Make a load of noise and don't pick dirt up anywhere near as well. Such a difference but don't really see why they look identical.

      The irobot product, company and customer service stink.. We've been trying to resolve issues as soon as we received this as a gift for last Christmas. My previous model (not irobot) worked for years and I wish we never got rid of it!! The robot never finds it's host, doesn't empty it's bin, the brush falls off after a few seconds and We've had to replace the head module 2 times. We've spent more money trying to fix this brand new dang thing than the actual robot. The company refuses to give a refund or replace the robot even though we're still under warranty! Do not purchase this product!!!

    Difference between Roomba 870 and Roomba 980 is significant. I had no idea that 980 is so much better than 870 until I test it on my own. I thought the 980 would be 870's with mapping but I was wrong. Roomba 980 is finally real vacuum cleaner. Both in eco and boost mode it has so much more suction power than previous models which were simply sweepers. Now it's real vacuum. I had all generations of Roomba, including entry model 620, through 782e, 870 and now 980. They are all very good, but the 980 is a king of all previous Roomba models. I can't even imagine what is i7 or S9 in compare to 980 lol

    If they have a robot already, buy them accessories/refills as stocking stuffers. Never hurts to have refills, or virtual walls if they got a non nav unit.

  • @GoFastGator
    @GoFastGator 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    One deficiency of the Imprint Link tech is that the vacuum must finish its ENTIRE job before starting the mop. This is a real drag if you have a larger home. Would be awesome if the vacuum could go out and start vacuuming hard floors first, with the mop following.
    Also, if the two robots are running at the same time, they do not know how to avoid each other. Demolition derby in the hallway....

    "Most houses have places where there are a lot of cords" ... yes they do. But then that house gets a 675 and the house no longer has messy cords in the way and you best BELIEVE those kids pick up every single Lego because they know the robot eats Legos for fuel.
    Also we got one of the Wyze vaccums in the upstairs. Very different units but both clean really well and run every night.

    I got my 675 a about 6 weeks ago on sale for $250. I LOVE IT! I live in a studio apartment, don’t have a pet, and shoes are left at the door so battery life, navigation, pet hair, and the best clean possible isn’t a concern for me. And this being my first robot vacuum I didn’t want to go overboard. The Braava 240 is absolutely on my list next unless they release a new one that is reasonably priced with app connect capabilities.

      @@andreab425 sorry for the late reply. I purchased it in Oct 2020 and then got a dog in Dec 2020. It worked for me for a while until I really got sick of cleaning the bristle style brush. Dog hair just coated that brush, so if you have pets that shed, do not buy unless you’re okay with more maintenance. I just upgraded to the i3+ last week and it is much improved. I did buy the Braava 240 in early 2021 and that is such a good map I highly recommend, as long as you buy the washable pads.

    I love the work you do keep us all informed on these products!!
    Do you have insight of when the next generation of iRobot mop will be available? I purchased the i7+/M6 bundle. So far very happy with the i7. Not too happy with the M6 yet. Great technology but I believe I need one more generation of advancement before I'm happy with shelling out the price tag. Issue I currently see with the Braava M6:
    -It should have ability process a mapping run without mopping. It just takes WAAAY to long to get a map otherwise
    -It should be able to 'see' the grain or alignment on wood floors or tile and align itself to prevent cross streaks.
    -It should be able to 'lift' the soiled/wet mop off the floor when returning to base so as not to drag a dirt mop head over a previously cleaned surface.
    For now, I"m keeping the Roomba i7, and returning the Braava M6
    I'd appreciate any insight on the timing of Roomba's next gen mopping robot OR if you feel another brand is there yet with the above features

    I currently have a Shark IQ and considering returning for a Roomba. My main issue is the front bumper plate. I'm assuming they have IR sensors in them and they seem to get super scratched. The robot ends up ramming into things the more scratched it gets. Does the Roomba get this also?

    If you don't have a robotic vacuum yet get one, they are wonderful. I am a happy Neato D7 owner (3) and I thought that vacuuming a couple of times a month would be enough but we have a dog so my robots vacuum 3 days a week (three and a half hours each day) and still get a significant amount of debris every time. Our house is cleaner and the floors look great.

Of course they're much higher quality and do a better job in my opinion. So say YES to S9+ with emptying tank (clean base) and the Bravo jet newer larger one. I typically set them each to go twice per room and they do such a good job and help me keep up with dusty floors. Best wishes for excellent black Friday holiday sales!!

      @@EstebanBustos It takes it much longer to clean the exact same area and it doesn't do as good a job. It's not garbage in and of itself, but, in my experience, it is compared to the 980. To be honest, if I was in the market for a new robot vacuum, I'd go for a Roborock. The one with the self cleaning base... What's it called? S7 MaxV Ultra? It's similar money but it also mops, cleans itself, empties itself and has lidar.

      I spent a ton of time making this comparison table of the most popular Robot Vacuums on Amazon on 20 different metrics that mattered to me. You can compare any options you want against some of the top options to see if it's the best one for you. You can add and remove options from it and customize the criteria to match your needs. Cat Hair, Rugs, Self-Emptying and Re-charging were most important to me. It's kinda like a shared spreadsheet on steroids because it pulls in all the specs and ratings. We tried a Deebot T8+ and loved the laser navigation, but had real trouble with the robot getting stuck on a small floor transition, getting stuck halfway up it's self empty bin, not emptying completely, and being entirely phobic of a rug in my son's room. We're currently using an i8+ (costco exclusive i7 with bigger battery) and it's very easily harassed cornered or confused by our son moving around the house...

      he self emptying feature just seems to do better for us if I run it more frequently - about three times a week - and we have cats. As far as getting confused by kids, I bet all AI has a long way to go in that regard. :)

I also think it's worth noting that if you plan on buying these at Costco, the model number is the next higher even number. Meaning i3 is listed as i4 and i7 as i8. According to the Roomba rep, they are the same vacuums but just come with more extras than if you were to buy them elsewhere.

    I'm rather out of the loop when it comes to newer vacuums. Are robot vacuums nifty tools for people on the go or luxury toys for people who have lots of money? Or to put it differently, would a robot vacuum be sufficient as a main vacuum or should people on a budget stick to an upright?
