    I talked to Markus ( I think he worked with Meguiars before and now HF and helped design a bit of this Hercules ) and he said yea the old Bauer had cheap grease but this one has top tier mobile 1 grease ; albeit I’m sure if there’s better grease I might still swap just cause . He recommended the flex 3401 4 3/8” BP as well.
    Great review btw I’m excited to try mine out!

    That's a lot of value if it holds up. I've really enjoyed my HF bauer long throw after a regrease and switch to a 5" backing plate. I bought it as a back up but found myself grabbing it first just because it works just as well.

    I bought this polisher last week and I was shocked how good it was for, like you stated, a little over $119.00 (darn no coupon). The Flex 3401 4-1/4" and 5" and 5-1/5" backing platers sold on eBay for the FLEX 3401 does fit this polisher, I tried them to verify. This is the first electric powered hand tool I've ever bought from Harbor Freight that DID NOT come with the extra brushes. I gave it a test drive on a hood, and the metal head didn't seem to get hot at all, as I thought it would as it was already 94 degrees outside in full sunshine. That thick power cord is great too. And like the FLEX 3401 this can/could be a 2-in-1 polishers if the inner ring gear is carefully removed. Speed switch is kind of strange, but it does have slow start progressive-step-up speeds 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, and so on. Plenty of power. Can't wait to see your in-use demo. Question: Where do you get your replacement brushes for your TORQ polishers? Chemical Guys was no help at all. Great review!

    • @erichill7560
      @erichill7560 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's good news about the Flex backing plates! I picked this up on an impulse last week and wasn't even thinking about the backing plate side, and I've been going out of my mind trying to figure out which pads to get. FWIW, the Hercules backing plate is 5 -1/2", so anybody who has been using normal 5" pads will have to pick up a 5" plate.
      The thumbwheel is indeed cruddy. I'm going to look around at digikey and whatnot and see if I can find a drop-in (or solder-in) upgrade.

After viewing I checked out a few other reviews on this polisher and in one the detailer stated that the Flex 3401 5 inch backing plate was compatible and interchangeable with the Hercules, can you verify this to be true, I’m thinking of purchasing this polisher but I would prefer using 5 inch pads. • @jdisdetermined
      @jdisdetermined ปีที่แล้ว

      8mm standard throw, same as the Flex. The Mille has a shorter throw. If you’re only buying one polisher to do everything. This is the one I’d go with. A separate 3” polisher is almost a must have with the long throw. Though it’s also very capable and well made for the price. I have one that’s done well over two dozen corrections and still going strong. Just a grease swap and a 5” plate is all I’ve done to it.
