I particularly love how instead of waiting for the elevator in e2m6 you just hopped up and went "I'M GOIN' ON AN ADVENTURE!" and then got back before it finished fully descending.
Nicely done dude. Below 12 minutes is simply amazing for a SS run. The last update for the segmented record I remember was around 10:57, and after that a few seconds were shredded still, so it was at around 10:55 or so... And now you've done the single segmented only a minute slower... crazy. I don't have a clue where do you get the nerve to hit all the tricks on the later levels too. Very impressive.
Man, I've been following Quake speedrunning for a while now (2006) and I gotta say, this is the most impressed I have been since Peter Horvath E1M3 100%. This is Horvath level of cleanliness and technicality. Just wow, much props and claps to you for this run. Just WOW!

Loved this game as a kid. Haven't played this in over 20 years I reckon. Looking back at this game, the sounds effects are awesome. Definitely makes the game that much more creepy. The graphics may be outdated as hell, but the sound on this game is still impressive. Who agrees? Edit: also, looking back at the gameplay, this was truly an awesome game....the level designs are just so cool
I have a question. Shooting through the wall with lighting gun at 9:16 on that level is quite new. But I remember seeing people doing that years ago on the final boss level to kill the guys through the wall. Why didn't people think to do that approach on that level years ago? They wasted A LOT of time on that level.
just because the lightning bug has been known about for a while it doesn't mean all strats abusing said bug have been discovered yet. there are still new strats being found in quake more than 20 years after release.

This project inspired me more to play single player mode even most of time I spent in multiplayer online Deathmatch game with Quakeworld due to slow Internet Connection (dial-up 56k modem). Do you all the participants of this legednary classic project and totally Quake takeover binded the rocket jump for shortcut key? Still wondering that there's only nearly 80k views at this video after all these years.
I really can't grasp the Vanilla bunnyhop. Mostly because QuakeWorld was first to introduce bunnyhopping to me (Thanks player Wugga...), but that plainly means I won't be able to put my name in the speedrunning website. :(

I believe you can get a better time with E4M5. Probably close to what nightmare could get you. Prolly 8 or 9 seconds if you jump the ledge via elevator or that invisible ledge on right side. wall. If you feel like doing more runs, consider doing the normal stuff like best time possible.
i'm well aware of the strat, i do it in my 2:56 E4 run. it's barely a second worth of timesave in single-segment runs. i skipped the strat in this run because i wasn't confident with the angle i came in with from the zombie boost.
I don't know about skipping, TAS can get it at best 7 or 8 seconds so I'd like to see someone actually come close. Also, have you tried Nightmare runs?
i've done hundreds of hours of E4 when grinding for this run and not once did i get anything below 0:10 with said strat. the best i've gotten is a low or mid 0:10 and i doubt it's gonna get any faster than that. i don't know what TAS you're referring to but the only easy run of e4m5 i can think of that is faster than 0:10 would be the one in the segmented run (0:09 in the Rabbit Run) which requires a very precise nade placement - hardly something anyone can pull off consistently. don't forget nightmare difficulty has additional enemies you can boost off of (as can be seen in the 0:07 in Quake done Quickest). no, i don't do nightmare marathon runs, only ILs.
I'm new to Quake speedrunningx so this may be a dumb question, but is do you just add up all of your in game times to get your record, or does the time travelling between the levels count too?

And I still haven't seen someone complete that lightning gun glitch on the platform. The unnecessary shotgun blast to the shambler's face on wind tunnels is probably my favorite moment in the run.
this has been the record for almost two years now. obviously there is wiggle room, the run isn't perfect. e1m1 box boost is out of the question - it's a stupid strat that nobody will ever go for outside of the e1m1 ER, too high risk for too little reward. not sure what lightning gun glitch you're referring to.. the only one of any use in full-game easy runs is the e2m6 one.
@@st0n3p0ny the dm6 platform glitch you're referring to is only possible in QW clients as far as i can tell, it does not work in the vanilla quake clients (which are the ones you speedrun on). the e2m6 lightning bug is an entirely different bug altogether and it abuses a math error in the quake code to allow you to shoot through walls under the right circumstances. this e2m6 strat has become a standard for runs under 13 mins since TheLDer discovered it back in 2016. more info about the bug can be found here quake.speeddemosarchive.com/quake/misc/lbug/

@@st0n3p0ny the previous record holder was Elgu with his 12:25 back in 2015, in the four years since then i'm the only one to have beaten that time with my 12:17 and 11:57. of course there are people running quake still, but there isn't really any competition for this category at this time. even with a perfect run with these strats you'd barely be able to push for a 11:4x.
E2M1 you can get 7 Seconds, but it´s quite hard, with frame perfect jumping. 8 Seconds, most people(who know how to playe Q1) can do it with some practice. I think jukebox's time counts also the tenths of seconds, so his time could be like ~15s even faster, if calculated similarly with the segmented runs.
