an amazing video, thank you so much!
Good tips!
Thanks for the great advice!
yep
Seriously, best tutorial on YT. 👏Thank you !🙏
Thank you! And you are so welcome!
Getting 2 budgies so I'm so excited to find your videos!
Awesome, I would highly recommend getting one at a time. It will be way easier to train them. Trust me, I speak from experience. However, If you do get two its not impossible to train them just will take more time and patience.
Did the first video have the same title, beside the part 2? I didn't see a link and the Part 1 may have a different title?? Not sure but either way you have a great channel. I had parakeets as a kid growing up but I've never really hand a thoroughly hand tamed parakeet or one that talks at all. That's all I'm looking for, now that I have the time. We may get a parakeet but want to be sure so that the bird has a great life. Did some surfing and found your channel. Liked and subbed. 👍
My bird comes out their cage now and will land on its outside perch so this is perfect as I'm starting training.
AMAZING!!!
Thank you Soo much❤
nice.. thank you for sharing
Thanks for this video! I may have to watch it a few times and I have chop sticks so that's good. I just have to get a clicker. So happy about Winnie.
Great I hope that makes sense. Birdtrick TH-cam channel also explains it great!
There seems to be some differences in how different bird trainers discuss having your bird "step up" by touching or not touching your bird. Wouldn't a scared bird run/fly away if you tried to have him "step up" with your finger but he was scared? I'm asking because I'm considering getting a bird after decades of not having one and trying to have this new bird be hand tamed and want to be with its humans. Good video, thanks. Liked and subbed.
Yes, so it appears that you didn't understand the first part of the video which was target training. Once your bird is target trained you should be able to target them onto your hand. With out touching them. This gives them the option to step up and if they dont want to, that's ok. It simply means they are not ready. Where as, if you were to press against their belly, birds interpret that as forcing and it can break trust quickly. Its all about giving the bird a say. In part one th-cam.com/video/YUk35AtVAPs/w-d-xo.html I explained how to get your bird more comfortable to you and part two sort of builds off of that. I plan to update these videos soon!

I didn't really explain it right, what I meant was that there are a lot of videos out there that tell you to press your finger against your birds chest and say "step up", in order to train them. I think I like what you are saying better. Got it. Thank you.
Due to a crisis my friend is in-my husband and I agreed to home her parakeet for a short while but it may become permanent. She is a sweet, 1.5 year old yellow Budgie who seems to have never been tamed. Any contact with our hands getting too close results in a bite. We are probably not the best parents for her and not sure what to do.
i have the same problem. we are taking care of 3 parakeets, because the owners dont want them. they came in a small cage, barely any toys, and only fed seeds. every single day, they are fed seeds.
i dont want to open the cage yet, as they fly everywhere in the cage. im not sure wether i should open the cage or not. because if i lose a bird, im in big trouble. but at the same time, i want to give them some freedom.
there are 3 small doors which i stick my hand in, to try to get them on my finger, or to feed them some apples. but they only bite, or fly away.
this is really hard for me because im trying to tame 3 birds at once, without opening the cage. and my parents tell me i shouldnt give them treats, because they arent used to it, and it could kill it. i dont know what i should do in this situation.
i feel really bad for these little birdies. im watching videos and learning more and more about them. but nothing seems to help.
you are not alone. i wish you the best.
if anyone knows what i should do in this situation, please let me know.
Thank you ❤
@@user-lx5je6wg1m We are watching videos and trying different things-something to try is to find a local vet who works with birds and ask for a consult via phone or Zoom for a small fee perhaps.
Ive a pair of budgies on 4 eggs
W
Mines afraid of the stick he doesn’t want to touch it so what do I do? He’s a rescue I’ve had 3 months he’s very afraid of my hands and fingers he will eat millet holding with my two fingers but freaks out if he gets too close to my hand. I practice everyday as I work from home. Also when you start Target training is that the only time you want to feed him millet even while trying to bond. I’m getting very frustrated with my bird he’s an adult budgies I tamed and trained in the past very young baby budgies.
You can put the millet next to the tip of your target stick and let him eat the millet with the target stick in his presence. Once he is comfortable doing that you can hold the millet farther back and let him see the target stick. When he reaches for the millet touch his beak with the stick, click then let him eat more millet. Video coming out about this soon.
My budgie won’t take the treat
That's probably cause you have your budgie on an all seed diet. Watch a channel called Bird Tricks and see how to transition your budgie over to a healthy diet. Then try again. Hope this helps, you can also watch my budgie diet videos.
