I am now working with a recruiter for a DEPOT HST spot. Im a civilian RN with 4 years ICU and ED exp. and a handful of degrees. Wanted to try CGR for a few years, if i like it, ill likely persue a direct-comission in the CG or another branch. 3 weeks of training for E5 with no prior is a pretty sweet option. You arent gonna get that anywhere else. I was prior Army NG but only 4 month AD over 10 years ago, so i dought that my prior service will even influence my application.
Good to hear this. I am also a RN With 4 years ER/ICU experience and 8 years paramedic. No military background. Currently working with a recruiter about joining the reserves and doing either ME or boatswain. I want to do something different than medical. I got offer E3 because of my bachelors degree. Did they offer E5 because is HST? Let me know how your process works out. Thank you
@samuelsoto5872 so funny. I literally looked into the CG to change careers too. I originally didn't want anything medical. I was told by my recruiter that I'm too old to be competitive for OCS or ROCI, but I am still going to apply once in; I'm 37. Yeah, I did get E5. I took the HST route because I might try the physician assistant program. If that doesn't work out, I'm gonna try Army USAGPAN for CRNA after my contract ends. I want to do 20 years and I can't really financially justify retiring enlisted over officer when I make 150k now as an RN. I totally agree that healthcare sucks but I'm hoping it's different in the military. I'll let you know how it goes with the HST.
My unit just got a DEPOT graduate and his DEPOT company was a majority Law Enforcement with a sprinkle of Reservists and just a few prior service. A lot of people who have been police officers that want to make the change to Military.
Im currently 14yrs in law enforcement, 7yrs of patrol and 7yrs as a EVOC and Vehicle Stop instructor, so hopefully trying to make the next DEPOT class soon. I wanted to do ME but i failed the color vision test despite passing the 2nd color vision test (red/green) so my secondary rate is DC. What are the benefits of a DC attached to PSU’s? Do they get certifications that MEs and BM’s get?
Great information to thank you. Are there many TACLETS who are reservists? When trying to get your boarding officer qualifications as a reservists you have drill two days a month, are the qualification training only on certain days or can I take the opportunity to show up for extra drill to complete the qualifications?
Thank you for all the information, your videos have been a lifesaver! A couple of my own questions that I haven't found anyone to answer: Once you're E-3, how long are you at your unit before you can request to be put on an A-school waitlist? Is it like a set amount of time (say 6 months) or just up to your leadership? Also, when you get a new assignment, do you have any ability to request certain billets or districts? Also, do your previous assignments impact where you can go next (e.g. your last post was in district 13 so now you have to go to a different district)? Thank you again!
Has A-school wait times changed at all or are they still pretty much the same?
I've posted a more recent video on the wait times.

Have not had any luck finding info- is DEPOT reserve only? Cheers
Its not just for prior service
You don't have to be prior service for DEPOT.
I’m just a permanent resident and I’m going to join, so it’s ok to not be born here
