Hey everyone! We've set this as a premiere because it's under embargo until 8AM. Feel free to come back then to watch the full video.
Yes, I have my notifications bell turned on & it does tell me each time you post a video be it one under embargo or not 🤷

@@Bear-wj1mc It’ll go live tomorrow. No plans to do a Mazda 6 at this stage :-)
Nice, but, price will be out of this world, especially for a carer !!
You have a bad accident
Kia is absolutely killing it. Love their design language and how much features and performance for the money.
It looks sensational, which is more than I can say about those unsightly blobs BMW have been churning out lately..
Looks sleek and modern. Good job, KIA.
This looks GREAT! The waiting list will be huge but they’re on a winner.
Paul, one of the key things for the 3rd row to minimise car sickness is having nice big windows and air. Great to see this ticks those boxes with the car seats in 3rd row as well. Nice
I wish they pushed the 3rd row a few more inches back for leg room. Looks tiny.
Love the design, especially how they refine the interior.
I expect pricing to start around the $105k drive away for the base model. Which is huge $$ for a family SUV.
Though I do like what KIA & Hyundai are doing on the styling front inside & out
Happy to see physical buttons for the important stuff
Looks futuristic yet functional…inside and out! Thanks for another excellent review.
Looks awesome! My only wish is to have a bit more contrast on the dashboard, maybe some of the white leather or some silver trim.
looks amazing. the side mirrors are very unique.
did they change to rear seats to not have the swivel function on this?
110+ ORC but I want the Star map signature lighting system
Love that the 2 rows of seats seem to fold down flat, which means you could sleep in the back, which would be great for car-camping! Just wonder what 'light off-roading' means, perhaps enough to get to most non 4x4 campsites?
You can drive very bad road with this. 20cm ground clearance and lot of 4wd torque. Problem is those 21 inch rims and tire choise seem to have zero rim protection. They don't even allow 19" rims with top spec.
Love it! I want one!
Paul, enjoy ya stuff. Question for you regarding the electric charging hood. what are your thoughts? I was wondering iof you ran out of juice would it have enough to still opem? Ive seen in the past in cases on testing where this was an issue.
Uses the 12v battery. Electronics don’t run off the drivetrain battery directly. Also you do not ‘run out of juice’ with an EV unless you try VERY hard. It’s just not a thing. There is also a manual way to open the charging flap. It’s not mentioned but you can see it on the interior in the boot below the rear seat buttons (the round thing)
Might be imaging it, but the image size of those external digital mirrors seems smaller than glass mirrors.
Does it have trip planning and battery pre conditioning?
I really like the look of this car
Can’t wait to watch it
Looks great. The only thing I would say is it doesn't look easy to take those rear seats out if you wanted to. Would be great to see an option with them gone
Absolutely love the design. Kia is killing it.
Finally a 7-seater EV in Australia about bloody time. Now to find out if it is actually affordable.
😂😂$
You said there are top tethers in all the seats, buy it looks like there isnt for the middle seat. It would be nice to see how wide the middle seat actually is too, to see if you could actually fit 3 people/carseats across.
I recon the finger print scanner needs to be on the door. My other half sits so close to the steering wheel it can be hard for a taller person to get in then press a preset button like that.
How much can it tow? Would be good to do a tow test with it once you get your hands on one. See how the range is effected.
i really like the look of it and for a family would be ideal for shopping and trips away. Australia just needs to upgrade the electrical infrastructure especially in rural areas for these to be worth having.
Is it coming to the uk
I love the look, it will be expensive though. I hope it'll come with the navy interior that other markets have.
Kia is miles ahead of its competition . EV9 looks epic hopefully not too steep on price tag
Definitely looks the goods. Will be interesting to see the price for the GT model. If the Mazda CX90 is going to be sub 100k I think this will be up there with that.
Does this have curtain airbags that extend to the third row? The seats look awesome with the softer leather in the centre section do the head rests tilt forward or are they fixed position?
Haha I forgot to add Paul why do your arms look like they have been amputated in the cover for this video. Really strange looking.
Looks great
When will Kia install headlights with active shadowing?
This is way too heavy for me to want to buy.
"Kia Connect Store" is that after-purchase?
Living in South Africa we have planned blackouts from 6 - 10 hours per day, I want an ev that can run my home or shop .
Beautiful 😍
What happened to the shirt you're wearing in the thumbnail😂
😂😂 I’m glad somebody noticed! We used AI to change my shirt for fun.
I've seen other concepts that show that the second row can swivel to face backwards. Have they ditched that?
Gorgeous ❤
Tow options?
03:00 oh no, please don’t tell me they are doing that thing where to gain more acceleration you have to pay subscription in the app.
When you test it, can please let us know how it handles in the city.....and a J turn?
👌🏼
The price I would suggest is around $80K to 100K. Looks stunning. Kia has been doing a great job 👏
Stunning?
@@Rally4Life1982 🤪
@Rally4Life1982 nah - the EV6 is 75k, this will be at least 90-95 up to 120k imo
@Nerdificationing I agree, top spec PHEV Sorrento is $88k so would expect north of that too.
There is already pricing in Sth Korea for this.. If you take the KIA EV6 GT, it is slightly more than that there. So an EV6 GT is just under $100k Aussie
So the base would start at just over that. But could expect around $95K - $99K before on roads, just to keep in under that $100k mark.
Need a mini version of this
What kind of battery tech?
Looks good. Well done Kia
Was waiting for it but that 3rd leg room is kind of sad for the platform and not comparable to currant carnival.
I’m liking it wish it had just a tad more room in the third row
Love the look of this, hopefully they bring out a slightly smaller/cheaper version that looks similat
EV5
@jackcalow2430 yeah that's smaller than the ev6 though, hoping for something in the middle
@@paulk3198you’ve seen the leak for the EV5?
@@paulk3198ev5 is bigger than the ev6. It's literally what you're asking for.
Love it. It will probably be the replacement for my ioniq 5 when the time comes, which I also love.
i like it wish they had a hybrid option
Looks good 👍 cost estimation will be b/w 80 - 120k. However the big question is how much will it tow ? Can it tow 2.5 Tonne ?
Even if it could, the camp site would have to be across the road then. I don't think it would drive too far with a 2.5T load behind it.
What about the Meridian Sound System? Its the best part of the car.
It’s a beautiful car! Just can’t get on board with those digital side mirrors.
When specifying drag coefficient number it might be good to mention another vehicle’s number for comparison like a Prius. This gives us muggles a better understanding of the number 😂
Gorgeous car
👍🏻 I think I live in the right time zone 🤣
Not that anyone who buys one of these would be fussed about it but replacing 4 tyres on this would set you back $2900! unreal!
I feel like the ev9 will be priced around 120,000 for the base model maybe going up to 150 to 170 for the top spec I’ve seen the ev6 average around 90 to 100 grand so won’t be surprised if the ev9 is 110,000 plus
can this ev tow a trailer ?
A gigantic Kia Soul.
Love it in white! I would get the long range (why do you want a super fast SUV?).
Looks fantastic. Absolutely love the design and functionality. Third row looks like it is only meant for small kids. Otherwise keen to see the other colours (white looks awesome), also prices and specs. Great work Kia.
They probably should have sacrificed boot space for third row space, but other than that, if they keep trim levels sensical then Kia is on to a winner
The third row of seats could have been put back a little further considering there is just over 300 litres with them up now.
It’s going to be interesting, if Kia wants to take the Model Y market share, they will need to price the EV9 air version around the 70-75k mark (it is bigger with 7 seat hence 75k is not bad compared to RWD 68k MY). I’m guessing that’s their plan, as not many actual big families (more than 3 kids) will go for this compared to a MPV eg carnival since the 3rd row is not that great. Best guess is They are targeting families that will use 5 seats and big trunk/occasional using 3rd row market.
Its not Model Y class its Model X class!
Does Toyota have a full EV in Australia?
Not yet.
Piano black on the WHEEL ARCHES?!
The only thing better than commenting on a video is commenting on a video before it even comes out 😉
You could comment on my AI shirt 😂
Fantastic car. Don't know if Mrs fianance would approve. 🤔
I can't believe im saying this, but Im startling to like Kia's 😳
Non-physical buttons for aircon really irks me (Kia aren't the only ones doing this). Talk about adding an unnecessary distraction while driving.
I would buy it for 80k, but reckon it's 90-120
Funcionality is much more important than appearance.
I'll wait for the petrol version
Looks like they've made the rear seats too low for adults like most EVs. I know there's the whole battery in the floor issue but I'm sure there are ways to make the rear seats more comfortable.
Although here in South Africa we are getting EVs, they come very pricey! It really doesn't make economical sense to buy them...
I think the GT Line 6 seats or 7 seats will cost above $150k in Australia. I reckon it’s won’t be the best cost to value EV on the market. I personally would rather wait for a more affordable and a better value EV.
Boy if someone dings your digital mirror in a parking lot, expensive !
Looks so good. Weird question but will it ever be released in a petrol/diesel/hybrid variant?
No. It’s built on the e-GMP platform, which is EV dedicated.
It is a nice car.
Looks awesome, would assume, in Australia, it'll cost 75k.
More like 100 n up
What the hell does “suspension has been tuned for Australian roads” mean?!? A good road in Australia is the same as a good road in Germany. A gravel road is a gravel road, and a 4wd road is a 4wd road. So which one is it tuned for?
Opps, the front is just, just, just shocking 😮
Software upgrades for performance in cars will be the norm I figure. Sucks though… Refer to KTM in motorcycles
no body talks about the roof. its not panoramic anymore with those split roof. a big glass roof would have been so nice on a car like this, similar to volvo EX90
Go ahead and laugh at kias they are smashing the ev game right now. Well done!! The ev9 is 🔥
Has to be $130k for AWD LR
$100k or thereabouts. Is the range calculated with 7 passengers plus luggage I doubt it.
I always hear cat reviewers talk about adjusting the HVAC while driving! No one does that, we set the climate control them we drive! Not a problem!
G'day guys I am waiting for the KIA EV3's First look .🇱🇰🇱🇰🇱🇰🇱🇰🇱🇰🇱🇰🇱🇰
Actually this the kia ev9 my srilankan brother so how is sl
This 100 kw/hour battery will save maybe about 40 tons of co2 of vehicle emissions per year compared to a diesel.
A typical house can be powered by solar and a 20 kw/hour battery, saving 20 tons of co2 for an average Australian house.
Which saves more tons of co2 per battery capacity of 100 kw/hour?
Kia EV9 100 kw/hour battery = 40 Tons
5 x houses with 20 kw/hour batteries = 5 x 20 Tons = 100 Tons of co2 direct emissions.
Investing in Solar and On Site Battery Storage for Australian homes would be more effective in combatting climate change.
Thoughts?
I have mixed feelings about the design. Depends on the price I suppose…
In contrary to alot of comments thinks this looks absolutely awful. Similar can be said for most cars being designed these days. As an EV driver very disappointed and refused to belive that the design language cant be changed
$130k ….only “all” wheel drive. Can’t tow anything heavy more than 200km….Landcruiser called, she said “hold my beer”
cant wait for this and the Volvo EX90
EX90 all day.
I love the design but all I see is a huge, older brother of Kia Soul....
150000( I wish ) the top spec
100k?
If they are smart they'll remove that 3rd row back as far as they can...... more important then that boot space considering they have room upfront as well and it will cost way too much. I'd say 80-90k? .... The engines are disappointing same with the range. They should all be aiming for just over 200kw and 500-600km/s of range always. A sub 6 second 0-100 standard!
