I just got my first evo x mr about a week ago and I’ve been watching your vids on this car for about a month and a half now because they’re just about the best and most informative out. I just realized you live down the damn street from me🤦♂️🤦♂️ I’m in carpenters run next To the outlet mall 😅 small ass world.
this channel is by far my favorite out of all the evo channels. Salute to you brother! I am selling my evo x mr to buy a gsr. hate that SST trans its a bitch
Thanks brother on the relay info! I just brought my X and that was the first thing I checked and sure enough they haven’t been changed. Scared the crap out of me and I brought them off of map already.
Always great videos. Looking forward to more evo x vids. What is the easiest way to tell if you still have the original relays?. i have a 2009 JDM model.
Thanks man! I’d think the originals are black but that’s just my personal experience. I’m sure doing fresh ones regardless would be a good idea if they are years and years old
DAMN being a passenger and being a driver is way different haha. kid looked like he was going to snap his neck everytime you shifted! if that doesnt make him a boost addict i dont know what will
That 4th gear high rpm misfire is rough lol. Had the same issue on my evo. Pushing 90whp less than you, i swapped my spark plugs out and gapped them to .20 and boom fixed it
That’s an idea but it’s not a spark plug issue. Its happened before and Ive figured out what it is. The car never ever does that unless the oil isn’t up to 100% proper temp before full throttle. Pressure can be good from warm up, engine can be hot but oil temps not fully ready it makes it act up. It’s why I tried doing a light pull first. The rest of the pulls you notice it doesn’t happen again.
Austin Consagra ever since I got stage 3 cams it does it. Think it’d the oil isn’t thin enough at high rpm it’s not making it properly to the cam sensors and breaks up like that. As long as it’s all the way warmed up it runs perfect
Hmmm maybe that’s why my AFR’s have been funny. I have a check engine for the down stream 02 sensor, ordered that. If it doesn’t help I’ll have to try the relay kit. Already replaced the MAF sensor, didn’t help.
Just got the 2014 GSR last Sunday. Today I checked the relays. If I have the green ones where you have the yellow Panasonic ones, Do I have to change them? The Maperformance site photos are the green ones as well...
Awesome video bro ur EVO IS A BEAST!!! I wish my Lancer sounds like ur EVO. One day I will get a 2015 EVO GSR OR FINAL EDITION. Dats my dream car to have. Keep up da good work tanks fo da cool video. Aloha 🤙🏻
relays are a must new or used evo, was new to the evo platform at the time(2010 gsr) and didn't know to much about the car and took the car on a 5 hour road trip on the leg back home engine suffered a fuel cut out and engine went limp almost crashed on the highway in the rain but i was able to save it and make it back home and i found out after some research and friend who owns evo 10 that the fuel relay was the main problem got a replacement and tore the old one apart and the contacts were completely shot causing my fuel cut , got my car used with only 12k on the odo
Smh replaced battery that was bad, issue was alternator took a crap 2011 -20 9 years alternator failed replaced car kept having random intermittent issues of starting or turning but not going on. Checked fuses wiring harness grounds, tested volt and continuity everything was good had the starter tested could also be going bad. Swapped all these relays I lived n socal and moved to norcal. I bought all new relays mentioned and extra and when I check out my old starter relay it was rattling inside so could be the problem turned car on no problem now only time will tell if that was it or my starter is about to go out soon. 2011 Ralliart stage 2 135k miles daily. I'll repudiated if I have issues or not as many people 2008-2015 cars have similar issues
Hi I currently own a 2012 Evo X and wanted to know if you recommend everyone with a Evo to change the relays or just depending where we live ? I read online that it's recommended for people that live up in colder climates rather than here in sunny California, where it's not as cold as Minnesota or North Carolina? I just wanted your input because it seems like you have put so much time in your car and you know what you're talking about.
Jacqueline Gonzalez Thank you for that compliment! Yes I recommend everyone, anywhere, every year changing them out to the newest updated ones. Cold weather does seem to mess them up easier but that being said there is a new version for a reason and the old ones have failed for people in all climates. Last thing you want is an outdated fuel pump relay going out mid pull (BOOM). Safety and peace of mind for cheap
Hey Xtra_Slo, so how often should these relays be changed? Can the new orange ones go bad quickly as well? I'm currently having a lean issue recently. Hits 12-13s afr. Before it was fine, nothing was changed besides the spark plugs and I also already had the orange relays prior for a while. What are your thoughts?
how did you do the "spark cut" antilag I wanna do it to my evo x I have the exact same GSR as you just without all the upgrades 😂 but I'm getting there lmao
So is the orange panasonic 1s better/newer than the mostly talked about mr122409 omrons? I just learned about the relay replacements so i wanna get the newest/best 1s now
So I have an issue with my 2011 Evo X GSR. I'm new to this and I'm learning as I'm going. My reverse gear is hard to pull into gear. I thought changing out the bushings would help but it didn't. Every other gear works fine and smooth with the car running or off. I'm out of ideas...
Could be an internal problem if all the other gears go in fine. Could do the redline cocktail transmission fluid change to see if that helps but if it’s a singe gear I’d think internal but just a guess I don’t repair transmissions for a living
@@xtra_slo1596 he promised me he would get back to me, and never did its been 2-3 months =/! i emailed him again but no reply this time, i even asked if i could leave a deposit for one.
When changing the 3 small relays (fuel pump relay , throttle relay, injector relay) does each relay has different part numbers? Mines came in one package of 3 and I don’t know which goes to which.
I recently changed the relays and changed my down pipe and did a cat deleted, I test drove the car but I’m getting a fuel cut and both of the o2 sensor are saying low voltage, can you give me some pointers on that, I read a lot on forums and have seen that even if you do a cat deleted it shouldn’t cost so much issues
Guys! i swapped the important ones but i also want to swap the lower non important relays, the important orange relays will also fit in the non important lower relays? so i just like buy 1 extra pack? thanks!
Also I did have a test pipe and at the time it wasnt tuned just yet and my car would nearly stall asc brake light transmission light came on. Would go away after turn off car and turn back on. I think it was my depo racing test pipe

I just talked about this relay on the forums lol
do these relays apply to other lancer models ralliart, gts w/ turbo installed?
Hey bro love your vids. I was gonna ask which wheels are those and what size tire you running ??
Ambit Ff4’s. 18x9.5. 235/35 tire
@@xtra_slo1596 thanks I really like them
orange relays are the latest. last 2x as long as the green ones. 10k miles vs 5k
saw they showed green on their page. disregard, but most people assume you change them and then they are good forever. orange is good for 10k miles
Jeremy Steinacker good advice 👍🏼
I got a notice in the mail from Mitsubishi about changing some relays out maybe that's the problem
Could be!! It’s a safety recall for a reason

how did you do the "spark cut" antilag I wanna do it to my evo x I have the exact same GSR as you just without all the upgrades 😂 but I'm getting there lmao
That’s an option your tuner can add. I believe only available with Tephra the flex fuel tuning program

i been waiting to buy that intercooler you recomended for 2/3 months and still not back in stock, =/! im just buy a sheepey then

Do you need to disconnect the battery?
How did you get that anti lag? Carbee had to program it?
Yea flex fuel program he tunes with has the capability of doing it. #parkinglothero
Mitsubishi sold me a black relay part number 8627A030 this ones are no longer available??? Why is this?
Hey do I need to upgrade the fuel pump and the injectors to install a flex fuel kit ?
When changing the 3 small relays (fuel pump relay , throttle relay, injector relay) does each relay has different part numbers? Mines came in one package of 3 and I don’t know which goes to which.
They all should be the same
Nope like shown in the video and what does I’m the pack, small 3 are all the same and 1 large is different.
There is no starter relay in map. Where can I find that.
Mine is 2014 all stock has 18k miles do it need an to upgrade or later ?
Can I use the same pack of relays for a Ralliart 2009?
I’d think they are the same I’d just check the fuse box cover making sure they are the same in the same spots
In ‘09 the big thing was to change the fuel pump relay. At that time I got the Blue one. How many times has the color changed?
Not sure how many times but regardless if the last change for you was in 2009, 11 years old now I’d do some fresh ones
Are this necessary for 2011-2015 cars as well ? I live in Cali is not cold here.
Like me I live in Florida and that’s why I didn’t change the starter one. All the others should be changed out 2008-2015
any used car you get you should change out the relays
They did a relay change on my 2015 in 2016 as a recall, is another one needed as well now or thats just a precaution for when you start modding?
It’s not about modding it’s just about not having failing relays which could be bad if happened
I've been looking for those relays forever now and they never have them smh its rough.
Maybe go with the part# to Mitsubishi directly
Xtra_Slo exactly what I did! Appreciate it man
Sounds like you took off the T51 mod? Do you feel like it took away too much from the turbos performance or you just got tired of the sound.
I don’t have the t51 mod, I usually use an external mic in all my videos but on this one I didn’t have it on. Regular GoPro mics 👎🏼
@@xtra_slo1596 oh ok. Im considering trying the mod myself.
Do you need a retune after installing new relays?
Long answer? No
Agreed, no
Guys! i swapped the important ones but i also want to swap the lower non important relays, the important orange relays will also fit in the non important lower relays? so i just like buy 1 extra pack?
thanks!
Good information
Is there a difference between the cold start relay kit?
No they are just labeling it as that because they are suggesting changing the starter relay out. Same same
Did you flatfoot shift on those pulls ?
No flatfoot, I lift some just fast
@@xtra_slo1596 can you explain your shifting? Those are like the most perfect shifts. It might as well be auto lol. I need this technique to gap foos
I recently bought an 08 evo GSR with 110k miles. I doubt they've changed the relay.. Will this apply for the 08 also?
Yes all years
@@xtra_slo1596 does the color matter on the relays?
After getting my evo tuned everytime i do a pull the asc system service required light comes on. Anybody have any idea on what that could be

Could be overboost or slipping clutch
