I worked with a guy in the 90's at a Honda dealership who had a typhoon and a cyclone. Sweet rides. 100 percent agree with the six banger. Those 3.6 heads can move tons of air.

Gosh I would love to see enough people pressure GMC into making this a comeback. That is if they make it look just like this and not a dumbed-down version of this.
I am a Mopar man through and through. But always respected GM and their special projects. This vehicle was amazing. And coming across this little video hooked me. If GM doesn’t make this as exactly shown on here they are foolish. This lil truck is insane. And exceptional in looks and said performance. And… it might inspire my chosen favorite to greatness. I always wanted a Syclone or Typhoon back in the day, but I went the Grand National route instead. Not complaining by any means. It was an amazing car and one of many on my list of rides I should've kept. I'm sure a lot of u have a similar list...lol.
I agree on the twin turbo V6 because it's a small truck, and it would be good for engine weight. A V8 would weigh it down. The rims and tires need to be smaller for weight also. 18 inch rims would be big enough. Remember, the weight of the truck back in 91 is why it beat a lot of V8 sports cars.

Can bring the front end off the ground on the street if the tune is to hot.. They make more than 450hp on just engine..

There has been several production vehicles that have well over 500hp and people throwing 20+ pounds of boost at them.. This isn’t the 80,s. As far as the weight goes, my Sonoma that came stock with a 4.3 sits a good 1/2 to 3/4 inch higher In the front with a CAST IRON LS block compared to the 4.3, so go ahead and try to tell me I made the front of my truck heavier…. Looks like one of the late great Ken Block's Hoonigan rides and is the best-looking truck I've ever seen! However, for me the tailpipes would be moved to the front of the rear tires and a tow package put in their place. I want one!

I test drove one when I was 20. The dealer wanted 28,900. I distinctively remember that because I was sad I couldn't swing the payments. THAT THING WAS A ROCKET. The lumbar seat function and the way it worked was super cool. lol Those that know, KNOW. lol I WOULD ABSOLUTLEY buy one today.
I have run in the Cannonball One Lap of America many times, one year a Syclone entered the truck class stock, against Craftsman truck series trucks, a Ford ranger that was built for road course racing 460 engine, to name a few, this little Syclone took first place in the truck class and I believe in the top 25 overall, out of about a 115 entrants.

I now own a 2010 GMC Canyon with the all aluminum 5.3 lS V8 with 300+ HP stock. It has the lowrider handling package and every single option available but power seats. All black and just a couple subtle v8 badges on the fender. It's Awesome. Thanks GMC.

That why I bought the new ford f150 lariat crew cab. Build quality was important to me, the 3.5 twin turbo is plenty powerful enough for a half ton pick up truck.

GMC did re-introduce the Syvlone in 2021 - 2022 taking the 3.6L V-6 and punching out almost 450HP out of it. A custom shop even dropped an LS engine into the 2021 Canyon producing 750HP. Why you never heard of this re-introduction was because GMC basically never advertised these new trucks. The salesmen at my dealership where I bought my 2018 Canyon didn't know about this. But these trucks are out there.

GMC did not re introduce the Syclone, The Syclone trade mark was purchased by SVE. It has nothing like the Original and is just a POS. I own an original and when I heard and saw it. I was so disappointed.
I would. Definitely a creative build for sure. I think it would look better without that rear air dam in the back and remove the Honda ricer rear dual mufflers perhaps put some oval tips on the back with a more flush roll pan. As far as the front goes, there’s too many airflow ports in the front perhaps just go with your basic billet grill along with the bumper that has a ground effects kit with rectangular fog lights just like the Syclone had back in 1991
It looks very cool. Great concept. According to car and driver the original was the fastest accelerating vehicle even faster then an f40.Yes it has to have a turbo v6 . It would look great in both colors.
I would prefer an LS3 in it. That's what's in my C6 and I really like it. I'm old school and prefer bigger displacement over turbo's. I know we can make a ton of power with a turbo I just think the engine is working too hard to last.

Brian good video, I have old datsuns as well, and I actually like the front and rear, but the flares like like a rocket bunny kit and that has to go. The original Syclone stayed true to the S -10 Body style as well with a body kit. A little tweaking would go a long way IMHO. Also yes keep it a Turbo V6 I like your style.
This is cool AF, but i cant live with something so low and slammed. I would LOVE it if we got more Australian "ute" type vehicles that can tear ass and actually haul gear or...a reasonable amount of sheetrock/framing lumber/house stuff. The El Camino was cool. That Ozzy ute we got 10 years ago was cool. Shit, even the Subaru Brat was cool. Give me something like that that can carry stuff, tow a little trailer, and be more muscular than a van or a wagon without being a lardy truck and without exploding from the ground up every time I drive over a speedbump or noob myself into a curb or a hole. Actively looking for a new truck, and would highly consider it. However, you can expect price gouging and availability problems that have been consistent with dealerships in recent years. Limited released Syclone would be unobtainable.
I was in Mcelveen Buick Pontiac GMC in Summerville Sc in1991. They had a Cyclone on the showroom floor... I was 19. I couldn't afford it so I bought a 1991 GMC Sonoma 4.3L instead.....😊 my first NEW truck
Yes I would purchase it But with the hope that it would come with a hight clearance adjuster , to raise the chasis at least three to four more inches for ground clearance.
Love the truck (ute) the only thing I would change is the back bottom vents so it could be fitted with a tow hitch and the exhaust to be moved to the side for the same reason.
A buddy’s dad had a Syclone and it was super fast. I’ve been in fast cars, but the way it accelerated is comparable to the Tesla today. GM was stupid to not explore how to bring costs down and sell more. About the closet I came to owning one was to buy a model, build, paint and display it.😂. They were very hard to come by. I’m not even sure how my buddy’s dad was able to get one.
be in the fact that I too work for a Chevy and GMC dealership, (in Nevada) this would be a phenomenal add to the assortment of trucks however, GMC are not making single cab trucks for the canyons there for the cyclone would be a double cab as well technically, if we’re using the same setup / canvas as a canyon. GMC also scrapping the V6 therefore a TwinTurbo 2.7 L four-cylinder might be a better candidate or a 5.5 L flat plane straight out of the C8 Corvette.
Give a 4 door option and take my money please. I need 4 doors but always lusted for the original. And this design is perfect, I'd hope for a nice interior with good quality materials, but that's never been GM's strong suit in my exp lol.

However, for those of us “Big Men” GMC should take this opportunity to upgrade the cyclone to a true full size 1/2 tone much like John Kiser did back in the day which was fantastic with a lowered 4x4 made us realize how important this design was for great performance and opportunities to go beyond the street!!

I'd be interested in a milder, less aggressive version. I like that it is a 2-door, lowered, short, but I'd prefer a small block V8, bench seat, not so much horsepower, perhaps even a flat-bed.

Assuming I could afford one, I'd buy one. I owned a 2002 Supercharged Nissan Frontier King Cab and I was upset that Nissan didn't produce a "street truck" version rather than focusing on Off-Road. Toyota abandoned the X-Runner street truck. Even most 4x4 trucks spend 95% of their driving use on-highway. I feel that the manufacturers have abandoned the on-street market when it comes to pickup trucks.
I believe Car and Driver magazine claimed the truck had the distinction of being the only vehicle they ever tested that shattered the rear window in acceleration tests by launching so hard the driver's head failed to keep up and struck the rear window.
Great looking truck! If GMC wants to make it fast, future proof and inexpensive, keep it 2 door, 2 seat. Give it an electric motor for each wheel for torque vectoring. Give it a tiny engine like a 3 cylinder to use strictly as a generator making it a range extended electric, like the Ram Charger, just give it a much smaller battery pack. Nobody wants to drive 690 miles at a time. A small battery pack, tiny generator and really powerful motors would be a great recipe for a lightning fast, awesome looking cuck!

Having owned a number of high performance vehicles including a Nissan GT-R 35 (700HP) I would buy this in a heartbeat, awesome looks and power train.

I would buy one, but I need that big cab. I like the idea of a v-6 turbo, but the 6.2l out of the c-8 would be better in my mind.

Not crazy about it, but it does look good! It would have to be black with the v6 and awd like the original. Even if they decided to remake these, they would be too expensive for the common person to be able to afford one.
Even the regular GM vehicles are far too expensive for the regular person to afford. Only rich people and stupid people are buying them with 10 year payment plans!!!!
I would love to buy one. The V-6 is perfect for this vehicle, 400+ hp, anything larger would mess up the weight distribution.
Brian good video, I have old datsuns as well, and I actually like the front and rear, but the flares like like a rocket bunny kit and that has to go. The original Syclone stayed true to the S -10 Body style as well with a body kit. A little tweaking would go a long way IMHO. Also yes keep it a Turbo V6 I like your style.
If it was a extended cab, I would definitely definitely it's a beautiful truck.

This is cool AF, but i cant live with something so low and slammed. I would LOVE it if we got more Australian "ute" type vehicles that can tear ass and actually haul gear or...a reasonable amount of sheetrock/framing lumber/house stuff. The El Camino was cool. That Ozzy ute we got 10 years ago was cool. Shit, even the Subaru Brat was cool. Give me something like that that can carry stuff, tow a little trailer, and be more muscular than a van or a wagon without being a lardy truck and without exploding from the ground up every time I drive over a speedbump or noob myself into a curb or a hole. I dont want to shit on the Syclone, mind you, i love it. Just trying to get something sporty and man work-friendly that i dont have to drive like a trailer queen. Im tipping the high side of my forties now, but I know some of you guys get it still. If im living in some unrelatable, old timey boomer dream..feel free to bring me to the light on what im missing.

Love the truck (ute) the only thing I would change is the back bottom vents so it could be fitted with a tow hitch and the exhaust to be moved to the side for the same reason.

A buddy’s dad had a Syclone and it was super fast. I’ve been in fast cars, but the way it accelerated is comparable to the Tesla today. GM was stupid to not explore how to bring costs down and sell more. About the closet I came to owning one was to buy a model, build, paint and display it.😂. They were very hard to come by. I’m not even sure how my buddy’s dad was able to get one.
6.2 would be a great standard. Refreshed Typhoon would be a great market replacement for the trackhawk.😎

be in the fact that I too work for a Chevy and GMC dealership, (in Nevada) this would be a phenomenal add to the assortment of trucks however, GMC are not making single cab trucks for the canyons there for the cyclone would be a double cab as well technically, if we’re using the same setup / canvas as a canyon. GMC also scrapping the V6 therefore a TwinTurbo 2.7 L four-cylinder might be a better candidate or a 5.5 L flat plane straight out of the C8 Corvette.

Give a 4 door option and take my money please. I need 4 doors but always lusted for the original. And this design is perfect, I'd hope for a nice interior with good quality materials, but that's never been GM's strong suit in my exp lol.

However, for those of us “Big Men” GMC should take this opportunity to upgrade the cyclone to a true full size 1/2 tone much like John Kiser did back in the day which was fantastic with a lowered 4x4 made us realize how important this design was for great performance and opportunities to go beyond the street!!

I'd be interested in a milder, less aggressive version. I like that it is a 2-door, lowered, short, but I'd prefer a small block V8, bench seat, not so much horsepower, perhaps even a flat-bed.
I would 100% be proud to own that truck without a doubt and I'm more of a car guy than a truck guy.

Assuming I could afford one, I'd buy one. I owned a 2002 Supercharged Nissan Frontier King Cab and I was upset that Nissan didn't produce a "street truck" version rather than focusing on Off-Road. Toyota abandoned the X-Runner street truck. Even most 4x4 trucks spend 95% of their driving use on-highway. I feel that the manufacturers have abandoned the on-street market when it comes to pickup trucks.

I believe Car and Driver magazine claimed the truck had the distinction of being the only vehicle they ever tested that shattered the rear window in acceleration tests by launching so hard the driver's head failed to keep up and struck the rear window.
Great looking truck! If GMC wants to make it fast, future proof and inexpensive, keep it 2 door, 2 seat. Give it an electric motor for each wheel for torque vectoring. Give it a tiny engine like a 3 cylinder to use strictly as a generator making it a range extended electric, like the Ram Charger, just give it a much smaller battery pack. Nobody wants to drive 690 miles at a time. A small battery pack, tiny generator and really powerful motors would be a great recipe for a lightning fast, awesome looking cuck!
