    • @NorthernKitty
      @NorthernKitty 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +17

      This is due to CAFE (fuel economy) standards. There is a formula that determines minimum fuel mileage based on wheelbase and track of a truck. Manufacturers have to pay a penalty to build small trucks if they don't meet the minimum fuel economy based on the footprint of the truck. This is why the Ford Maverick has a base hybrid model: so that it can achieve that mileage but just barely. The irony is, it's easier for bigger trucks that use more gas to meet the standard, which results in less fuel efficient trucks on the highway, completely the opposite of what the CAFE standard was designed to achieve.

    It doesn't matter how much the MSRP is, the stealerships and banks are the ones who set the actual price and they will never allow the public to have their own hard earned money. They will put dealer mark ups and fees on these things and people will have to give their next born son for them. I remember back in 2008 when I first saw the new smart cars that had an MSRP of twelve thousand dollars and you couldn't touch one for less than 26 grand. There is a 25% tariff on light trucks produced outside of NA. Once you add the additional tax +dealer markups, add-ons and fees you may as well look at a base level Tacoma.
    The only one of these that even approaches true truck capability is the Toyota, GM small engines like to dis-assemble themselves and GM won't fix the problem, the BRAT might be fun to rip some trails ... but it's not a truck.

    The "Knife to a gunfight" or in this case "Slingshot to a gunfight" always makes me laugh because that fight is based on the proficiency level of the individual wielding the knife/sling shot. If their good with their chosen weapon, they are a force to be reckoned with and may just take out the gun holder if they aren't so proficient with their weapon.

    When will a small truck come with 3/8 inch reinforced steel with 3M security glass, a 5.0 liter 425 horsepower engine to get it to 0-60 in 5 seconds a 10,000 pound towing capacity and an emergency high wind mode that lowers the suspension to the literal ground and latches onto the ground to handle winds up to 170 mph.
