      @@A2goddess SC3K is not available cuz' in new computers the game is laggy, 1-5fps in the menus and 12-15fps playing normally. Try downloading a pirate copy of them, it's going to be so laggy, probably.

      @@ferrocat2218 I have a laptop from a few years ago, this game is 10$ on GOG and it works perfectly :D

    I didn't get to play SimCity 3000 until one day in high school, my parents ran a computer repair shop back then btw, but one day in like 2010 or 2011, one of their customers was picking up their pc from the shop, and they gave my parents the cd for this game and only the cd. Mom then decided to give it to me and I had to look up a cd key in order to install it on my laptop (I wrote it down on a cd sleeve I put it in so I wouldn't lose it). When I started playing it that day, it was love at first sight (and yes, it was the unlimited edition). Also, the pic here has a CompUSA sticker which makes me think of the one day me and my parents went to a CompUSA when I was little and that was my first time seeing the iMac and PowerMac G3 up close and in person in all their blue and white glory. So many memories, I love this game to this day just as much as I love SimCity 2000, which I played since childhood.

    This totally has that turn-of-the-millennium feel to it, I miss it TBH.

    Makes me think of music from some late 90s documentary on Beijing or something.

    Oh God, that Comp USA sticker sure brought on a lot more nostalgia than it really should have.

      RIP Comp USA, where I played so many games for the first time, Serious Sam being one of them.

    Maxis or EA needs to get off their ass and remake this game for modern PC's with full 3D support as today's computers can handle it even on low settings. When this game was made most people were lucky to have a crappy video board.
    Edit; I know you can buy this on GOG but it's not common knowledge and it's not really a remake just a re-release of the same game.
    Plus your relying on an online client. If GOG ever goes for whatever reason like Need For Speed World you'll be up a creek.

    • @crazycanadian7223
      @crazycanadian7223 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Not entirely accurate, with GOG you can download the installer on its own, no DRM and no local client needed whatsoever. That's part of their schtick.

    • @NazmusLabs
      @NazmusLabs 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      GOG games are DRM free and provides offline installers. GOG games do not require the client to be running and has no activation or online requirements. Secondly, the GOG version of Sim City 3000 has been updated to work on modern versions of Windows.

    • @clst1981
      @clst1981 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NazmusLabs But you still need to physically go online to buy it and get the offline installers, which means his original point about, if GOG ever disappeared is still valid. Nothing beats a physical disc copy😁

    • @NazmusLabs
      @NazmusLabs 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@clst1981 Right, but once you buy a GOG game you can download the installer and back it up wherever you want. Then you don’t need internet to install. Heck you can literally burn the installers to a blue ray disc and make your own physical media. I don’t see why this isn’t the same as physical media.

    This game works best on an old single core Pentium as games like these were picky but there is no single cores left available. If you look carefully all you'll find is Optiplex machines which are just for businesses not really geared towards games with different configurations.

    • @janglur
      @janglur 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Or you can just core-lock it on any modern core and enjoy improved performance like a sane individual
      This trick also works on the entire Might & Magic series and Wizardry to fix those awful, awful really-low-FPS glitchynesses you see that didn't happen on original hardware. No emulators needed!
      It also fixes any games that uses BINK and SMACKER videos from crashing on play.
