this track was always the first (at least for me) with a fresh city and the progression of the song fits so well with crafting your terrain and getting started, that full-on breakbeat at 3:20 used to get me so hyped.
Every time a new city is started, this theme plays. And interestingly enough, from what I noticed, it never seems to play in any other instance. In SimCity 3000 Unlimited, City Of Dreams replaced Sim Broadway as the "City Start" theme. That's why Sim Broadway isn't in Unlimited. Now, as to why Concrete Jungle isn't in Unlimited... I haven't a clue.
Garbage deals are my favourite, using incinerators and landfill you buy yourself extra time to add capacity when the incinerators start working 100% and can't burn any more garbage. Power/water deals eventually fail for me because the city starts to consume more, so the deal ends with a penalty as soon as the city grows too much.
@@Al.Diamond This version? This version was far more popular. It was UPNish to the max. UPN stomped The WB (the network which the original version of this game felt too much like), a network that wasn't Warner Bros.ish whatsoever and was Tribune, in the ratings all 11 years. UPN/Warner Bros./WB flagship FTW. This version felt more "Seinfeld"ian too! The other version wasn't bad but it felt too self-righteous and too The WB/Tribune-like and too eager to impress. This one was more IDGAF in its tone. UPN was Paramount (combined with, intially Chris-Craft and United Television) and they acted more Warner Bros.ish. They both are black (UPN and Warner Bros.). I'm reviving UPN and creating WB, a real Warner Bros. network, no "The" before "WB," no frog, no "dubba," "dubba," "dubba," no Tribune, no fucking "Friends" (lame show that "Seinfeld" stomped in the ratings, nationwide and WORLDWIDE)
@@Al.Diamond That is before CBS supposedly bought them in 2002 (I never really bought that UPN was truly a CBS network after 2002, they had nothing in common with that network at all, they were far more popular than them and The WB). In reality Fox was the first to stake claim to the network, and in practice, Fox was partial owner of the network. They owned half their stations (WWOR, WSBK [OK that was CBS, but they acted like a true Fox-owned UPN station and they ended up being MyNewtorkTV], KCOP, the UPN affiliate for Miami [forgot the letters], etc.) CBS-owned UPN stations, while they carried UPN programming were mirred by every attempt by CBS to ruin UPN. Envy because their lame selves, along with The WB, got stomped by UPN. Eventually when they had enough of being envious of UPN's success, they tried to destroy it, and now we have The CW (rolls eyes in disdain), a network that is the lowest rated along with CBS, much like The WB was the lowest rated along with CBS.
Simcity 3000 the original proper is not non-UPNish but it's far more Tribuneized, too much for its own good. The unlimited version is more true to the UPN/Warner Bros./WB flagship! This one really epimized the tri-shape/color UPN logo essence to the max. A sign of a beastin experimental network, real talk.
@@admiralandy1983 There were two versions of this game - "Sim City 3000" and "Sim City 3000 unlimited" - you probably the former. I'm sure both were released in Britain, no?
This was some UPN/Warner Bros./WB stuff. UPN had many shows like this with this type of music in the 1990s and 2000s, and all of them stomped The WB's shows 11 years straight in a row, in ratings. UPN the real Warner Bros. network.

Still does to me. Agree, that breakbeat is one of the most badass moments in the entire soundtrack IMO

This piece always reminds me of my best memories in Thailand and Singapore 🇹🇭 🇸🇬
3:15 the Seth Rogan laugh though.
I've heard the vocalization at 2:00 used in other media.

This plays a lot when I start a new map. I always try to start the development of my city before 3:20 just for the drama lol

I've been playing this game again recently. Anyone else build excess power plants and sell power to neighbors as a good source of cash?

thanks for the tip!

The music that plays when you discover smart growth, including transit-oriented and mixed-use development 🤣😎👍
nah this song fits with a regular american city

This version of the game I had - it's way darker and grittier than the original version.
Didn't know there were multiple versions of this song. Cool

I wonder why this song is absent from the OST cd?
Because the version you had was the original "Sim City 3000." Not this version which is "unlimited." And way more hardcore
