Agree, though he is not really good at singing above like A3, however this pays off because his voice is insanely deep. Just listen to his "Alseep in the deep", he doesn't lose any resonance going down to a B1 and at the end he went down to an A1 in chest!!!
I never liked these bass battle videos just because the title causes flame wars. Gotta love both singers, although Geoff has an upper range advantage and better tone imo. Good clips.
So I see a lot of you guys miss the subhatmonic B0, but the problem is that I couldn't record Bobby's B0 from tiktok that is now outlawed in my country. BUT I completely forgot about his B0 in MY BOY. My apologies
Oh yeah, I HAVE thought of asking people to record that for me BUT It's a while since I posted that last video at the moment and I didn't want you guys to wait more.
The difference between two of them is Bobby's voice is richer and little bit thicker than geoff. But When geoff sing in the roon room full more Than bobby. Bobby's voice is one the type. Smooth, rich But geoff voice is mixed soft and loud. Everything he can do .
Nice work! Two of my favorite bass singers. Geoff has way more experience but damn, Bobby could actually keep up! PS, where is Bobby's subharmonic B0 :P
In the premiere I said that I could record there videos(Bobby's F1 in chest and subharmonic B0) because I'm russian and, sadly enough, foreign tiktok is now outlawed
This was amazing! Just two things that I noticed: 1. Why didn’t you include Bobby‘s F1 chest note? 2. Both Bobby and Geoff both have subharmonic B0‘s. Why didn’t you include them either?
In the premiere I said that I could record there videos(Bobby's F1 in chest and subharmonic B0) because I'm russian and, sadly enough, foreign tiktok is now outlawed
@@mintarobby No he doesn’t. He hits some F#1’s in chest. So far the only clear chest F1 that we got from him was in the „Friends on the other side“ song.
Sorry, but Geoff is the best bass for me. He has a recognizable timbre. His voice is lighter on low notes, but that's exactly what I like. I don't like very dark voices. You can listen to Geoff for a long time and not get tired. And he sounds good on high notes. His low notes are rich too.
Like others have pointed out, there are some low notes missing, but fans know they exist, anyway; like Geoff's B0 in "Halo" and whatever that low note was in "Enemy"... I have had my spectrum analyzer say it was a Bb0 and I have had it say it went all the way to F#0.
I know that bobby's got a B0 and a Breaf Bb0 in subharmonics. Also, I know about Geoff's B0 in HALO and subharmonic C#1 in ENEMY and a growled A0 there as well. I don't include Growls in my videos
@@rtsbass7829, never been a fan of the technique, either. It was the most unique growl I have ever heard, though; it sounded half growl and half subharmonic.
I love how Bobby was singing along to Voiceplay Oogie Boogie and singing Geoff's parts. I think Bobby needs to work on his upper range. In an interview with Tim Foust (another great bass singer) he talked about how its one of the things he teaches other bass singers to do instead of focusing solely on bass. In Geoff's career he started off singing higher notes not knowing of his abilities as a bass singer and then he started practicing a lot as a bass. Geoff considers himself a low baritone but everyone agrees hes a bass. Geoff learned a lot but he is older than Bobby. I think if Bobby had more practice on his higher notes, he could be an even better singer as he is now. Bobby definitely has a good start. Hes a really good bass. Just needs more. In all of the reaction videos ive seen of people reacting to Geoff in Oogie Boogie, everyone talks about his range. They talk about his higher notes. Of course all of them talk about his final note in that song but everyone all talks about how good of a range he has. Going from those high notes to that very low note. Bobby just needs to practice to get a bigger range than he has. (I dont know all the technical terms, i apologize. im not a musician)
I strongly agree with you!!! From the last song he did, he did high F's like nothing. By looking at The Sound of Silence cover from Bobby Waters, it is a pretty good to tell that he has been working on his upper high range more often, and I believe if Bobby continues like that, he will reach near to the lower 5th octave, like Geoff and Tim Foust do. It just takes lots of practice! Which would be cool to see him showing off more of his upper range, because if you observe from all voice types, the voice type that tends to have broader range are basses. The limit for a typical bass is either Bb4 of B4, which is stupid high for a bass because, that's not suposred for them to get that high, but anyways, that can be also affected by genetics.🤷🏻♂️ My best example: Since my childhood, I have been always able to get super high in my chest range(Up to G5)!!! But now, I am older with 18 years old, I can chest a Bb1 on a good day. Ps: Every voice is unique, and we should appreciate what each of us have to show off people our best skills, and not frustrating for what we can't change for ourselves :)
its like painfully obvious that he doesn't really know how to use the depth of his voice while belting in songs like the bass gang's version of iris. like yeah he sings those notes and they're on pitch but they're way too soft and bright for a bass voice imo. his low end is bonkers but his technique in his high end i dont think displays the strengths his voice could have
Geoff is a freak of nature, we shouldn’t be treating him as the standard if we’re talking about range. Bobby could work on the higher notes but I really don’t think it’s that bad for a bass
Thanks for making this, great video!
