I think the fast pacing really works to show Anne and Gilbert's feelings. The show is pretty slow-paced usually and it can be jarring to have an episode that is set a few days after the last one rather than a few weeks or even months. I think that really shows Gilbert's mental state though, and how rushed he feels into the marriage with Winifred and an adult life, while Anne and the rest of his peers are still living their lives as teenagers by drinking and partying. It can be quite jarring at first though.
Anne with an E is a show that will forever be in my heart. Cherish these last few episodes, they really taught me some lessons that I think about even now.
Amazing scene at the bonfire. Anne suddenly confronted with the prospect that Gilbert loves her, under the influence, doesn't know what to say, then before she can comment further is dragged away by the other girls. Great to see Anne and Diana get back together but it should have been Anne who went to Diana instead of the other way around.
About the fast pace, I'm pretty sure it's because of the show getting cancelled. I imagine they had to rush things so they could just wrap everything up as soon as possible, and it does feel weird !! Personally, this is my least favorite season, not because it's bad, but because of this reason precisely
Found your channle cause of the video you did on Collin Bridgerton and when I saw you've been watching Anne with an e I got so excited! just binged all of your anne with an e videos and I cant wait for you to watch the alst 2 episodes!!
I've found this channel by the season 3 of bridgerton/polin videos and i was soooo happy to find the AWAE reacts!! Absolutely love the commentary! Gilbert is the only one that could hear "pirate" and understand "no, i don't want to be with you". I love the way that Anne thinks and i really think is really beautiful the way that she thought first about Gilbert's future. I do think its rushed sometimes, but i feel it comes from the fact that there were probably rumors about a cancellation. The storyline of Bash's mother its very interesting to me because it is very complicated and is very realist. About Diana and Jerry, i remember watching for the first time and being like "what do you mean he is being rude? you are being rude!" I do feel like Diana was at the same time trying to justify to herself her own behavior and just end the conversation as fast as she could. I was so thankful that she went back to her normal by the end of the episode. I would love to be able to see more of Sebastian and Ms. Stacy. I think sometimes they seem like kids, because we are seeing it from a modern lens, (like, i'm 20 and I berally drink) but at the same time, sixteen is practically adults for them. Ka'wet storyline is so sad, but it is so important for a show that is apparently important for Canada's history (from what i've seen the anne of green gables books are like classical children literature, personally, as a brazilian, the show was my first contact with the story) to acknowledge it.
Diana's reaction angered me, too. Unfortunately, shes a product of her upbringing in that time. I don't think she was weaponizing it exactly, even if it felt like it, though. I'm just glad she's young enough to grow, and to be a better example to Minnie May who is clearly watching her. I'd love to see how she grows up. She'll likely keep her parent's on their toes. Oh and they were drinking moonshine, lol. I'm surprised Anne wasn’t more hungover the next day. That stuff is strong, and they had no drinking experience.
Your hair looks so pretty! I agree it was really nice to see Rachel stand up for herself and other women. And I love the scene of Bash dancing around thinking Gilbert was gonna propose to Anne, truly the biggest Gilbert + Anne shipper
I think the drinking was all of the teens first time drinking and if they were caught sooo would of been bad cuz I’m pretty sure it’s a dry county they live in so alcohol is also just not a thing in Avonlie. Also Gilbert and other people having a drink in the city I think would be normal, and he did drink when he traveled with Bash in Trinidad. So it is rather jarring seeing them all drink but I think it is supposed to be
I am an original Anne of green gables fan. Read the books, loved the Kevin Sullivan version. I felt like this series really captured Anne’s original imagination and cockiness. I surprisingly liked this version. The chemistry between Anne and Gilbert was great in this series. However, because they cancelled the series, Anne had not matured enough for Gilbert yet in this series.
Hi Sammy, arrived here from your Bridgerton series and was surprised in a nice way that you had reviewed Anne with an E. As a Matthew stan I thought you might like to know that the actor R.H. Thomson has an additional place in Anne of Green Gables adaptation lore because he used to play a secondary character on Road to Avonlea back in the early 90s. That show was also based on the characters from Lucy Maude Montgomery's Anne of Green Gables and The Story Girl. There are not many clips with his character, Jasper Dale, on YT, but I was able to find the one where he marries one of the main characters, Olivia King. th-cam.com/video/SMyary4O6Mg/w-d-xo.html and he is in the trailer for season 1 as well th-cam.com/video/eNg-EABiAAU/w-d-xo.html.
I never comment, but I love watching your commentary on this show. I've only ever seen men watch it and having a feminine perspective is extremely eye opening. Can't wait for the rest.
I wondered what gilbert thinks of bashs mom l "serving" him like that. did he notice something was off and didn't want to say anything or didn't he notice?
I had many feelings towards this episode originally. I was upset at the way Diana handled her and Jerry based on the fact I love both the characters, and honestly I kind of disliked her after this because I felt she didn’t resolve it, it’s tough because I know that Diana is going through a hard time and being put under her parents pressure but it was still disappointing. On a better note though I was very happy that Gilbert at least tried to tell Anne but I wish he would’ve understood that she was drunk and couldn’t process.Love the way Sebastian always knew, he’s loved Anne and Gilbert since the start.Bash and his mother’s relationship was always sad to me because they both went through so much, I’m just glad that they are starting to try and here each other out as you’ll see in the next episodes. Wish they would’ve touched more on Bash and Ms. Stacy’s relationship as well as Ruby and Moody’s, both have very few scenes together. I know that they were just trying to hurry and wrap up the show but it still feels so unfinished, some things I wish they just took another look at before they wrapped it up. It’s disappointing that they didn’t continue mainly because they still had many storylines unfinished (though they tried to wrap everything up), I think it would be nice if they even just did a mini series, in school, marriages, kids, as well as finishing those few stories left untold, I could watch this show forever but if Netflix truly didn’t want to do a full season I think a mini series would be lovely.
@SAMMYBATES Your Anne of green gables reaction doesn’t have to end when you finish Anne with An e as their are 4 movies you should watch and they are ANNE OF GREEN GABLES 1985 Starring Canadian Actress Megan follows as Anne and The late Canadian actor Jonathan Crombie as Gilbert and its Sequels, Anne of avonlea or Anne of green gables the sequel from 1987 whatever you like calling it, the third movie Anne of green gables the continuing story 2000 and The final Megan follows and Jonathan Crombie Anne of green gables movie Anne of Green gables a new beginning 2008 which is about an older Anne during WW2 with flashbacks to her youth. You will definitely love the movies Update in community tab if and when gonna react to them.🏠🥕🍎
Gilbert confessing to a drunk af Anne is hilarious
