Here's some more dark and spooky music from my latest EP! This is a song about the story of Father Gascoigne and his young daughter who waits for him while he is out on the hunt. The night is looking grim and the screams are only getting louder, and he is torn with guilt knowing she will likely never see morning.

One of Bloodborne's most chilling lines of dialog, especially when you really take into consideration what you're doing.
Finishing off old yharnam like the church intended meanwhile killing djura's friends and himself then when the hunt is over and you start having nightmares about the past you'll slaughter a bunch of peacefull villagers and anyone protecting them just out of curiosity like the old hunters did for eyes meanwhile you rob a mom of her infant
Pity they deleted his first encounter dialogue.
Meeting him before the fight would have had even more of a impact

It's so casual and matter-o-fact. Somehow that makes it more impactful
In the end, we became just like a beast. If not, worse.
"Sometimes the worst things are done with the best of intentions..." All Father Gascoigne wanted was to make his family safe, but in the end, he helped usher in their doom.
As the saying goes, "The road to Hell is paved with good intentions".
Laurence tried to used the old blood as a healing resource to cure all diseases but everyone turned into beasts because of him

My reasons I want to play Bloodborne:
1.) Trick weapons
2.) So I can understand this song
The song is about the family of father Gascoigne. Since it's more of a sidestory told within the game, I'll tell you one of the better interpretations somewhat below (I put it far enough down because of the spoilers.) It's rather long, but there's no way to tell this tale in a shorter way without it losing too much of the feeling.

So, when exploring Central Yharnam there's a house that has some sort of melody coming from it. A little girl is all alone at home playing a music box. She tells us her father hasn't come home yet from the hunt so her mother went looking. Yet, she hasn't returned yet either. She tells us that her father started to have trouble recognizing his family, so they play the music box to help him remember.
Her mum forgot to take the music box, so the little girl asks us to look for her and give it to her. An inscription on the music box has 2 names: Gascoigne and Viola (probably the father & mother). Before we go searching, she tells us her mum wears a beautiful red jeweled brooch.
One of the first bosses we encounter in the game is Father Gascoigne, a former hunter of the church recognizable by the garb he wears. He seems to have finally gone mad, lost in bloodlust instilled by the hunt & the church's healing blood. Playing the music box seems to cause him serious mental pain, until he finally abandons all his humanity and transforms into nothing more than a beast.
Near where we fought Gascoigne there's many corpses, but amongst the cut up beast lies a dead woman, wearing a red brooch. She's likely Viola, Gascoigne's wife and the mother of the little girl.
Now, we go back to the little girl. You can give her the brooch, but I didn't have it in me to do that. (This choice doesn't affect her questline other than dialogue). I just told the little girl I didn't find her mum. She tells us she can't stay all alone all night and ask us if we know of a safe place.
There's one truly safe place you can send people to: Oedon chapel. We of course choose to tell her of this place (choosing to withold information from her causes her to venture out on her own, sending her to Iosefka's clinic is basically letting her get experimented on until she's no longer human), and she thanks She, still being a little girl, is overjoyed in how much we tried to help her. She says she loves us almost a smuch as mum & dad... and granddad.
She never arrives at Oedon chapel... The great bridge is closed during the hunt, and the only way to Oedon chapel is through the sewers. She got eaten by an enormous maneater boar blocking her passage. If we return later to the little girl's house, we notice her older sister has returned home. She, upon hearing the terrible news of her familt, commits suicide.
What's truly sad is that the little girl probably would've encountered someone known if she had gotten past that monstrous pig. Just slightly further after leaving the sewers lies the tomb below Oedon chapel (the place where you killed Gascoigne).
We are warned by Eileen the Crow, a hunter who hunts other hunters that have gone blooddrunk, that a now mad hunter, Henryk, roams there. He's her mark, and she will go take him down (Eileen is old, but stubborn. She needs our help taking down Henryk, even if she won't admit it).
We learn later that Henryk was Gascoigne's hunting partner, and because the little girl mentioned a grandfather, he's probably also Viola's father.
Gascoigne kills Viola, we kill Gascoigne. The little girl dies trying to get to safety, her sister jumps to her death out of despair. Henryk falls into madness after finding his daughter and best friend dead, so we must kill Henryk.

It is a very good game It has a bit of a learning curve but once you figure it out the combat becomes a dancing.

This song captures the harrowing and agonizing feeling of talking to a little girl who is worried about her mother that has gone out to find their father. The father is a hunter of beasts who tried to keep the streets safe during the nights of the hunt. The girl gives you a wind up music box and says that her daddy will recognize the music and if he hears it then he might come home. She also says that her mother wears a red jeweled broach. Well you end up fighting this man named "Father Gascoigne" who has gone mad from the influence of the "great ones" (lovcraftian monsters from your darkest dreams) and halfway through the fight he transforms into a werewolf. If you play the music box during that stage then gascoigne will writhe in pain as he screams and fights his memories. After defeating him you find a dead woman in the same area who was wearing a red jeweled broach.....
It doesn't end there at some part of game you find the girl dead.

This song helped revitalize my love for the characters of Bloodborne. I forgot just how grim Bloodborne's story can get. A story where inaction may actually be the best choice, at least for this specific character. You aren't the hero in the grandest schemes. And that's what I love the most
You want an idea on what 'acting' like a hero will cost you, look no further than Gascoigne's daughter

I don't think I've ever heard a song hit you with the "the health bar is empty, there's a second phase" through it's beat, you fully believe the song is about to end before it slams you with a good fourth of it left. It's literally seeing that the movie isn't close to being over after the villain is "defeated"
This is a really sad story when you consider the fact that Gascoigne is a monster himself. Never really thought of the idea that he might have a family. This game was a fun lovecraftian mess of broken lives for sure.
He has a family, his wife lays dead in the area you fight him, its the corpse with the locket, his youngest daughter can be found inside a window, and she asks you for the locket, you can try to save her...tho it doesn't end well for her. Her older sister will ask about her later.

The fact the narrator can only hope to be the little girl's "avenging angel" is grim as hell. He's given up on the possibility of saving her and the only comfort he can give her is avenging her death.
Even more heart-wrenching, if you're unaware, the thing that kills her is a common oversized pig you find throughout the game. An animal, sick with Scourge like many hundreds of others like it, hunting and eating. Killing it solves nothing. In fact, killing it is how you even find out she was eaten by it, her white ribbon stained red by her blood, so any desire for revenge has already been squashed because it's dead, and it's all pointless anyway.

Games are the opposite, they are form of escapism. They offer the player that feeling of having at least a little bit of control in their life when their life is basically burning down around them. So. I found this originally 2 years ago shortly after it released. Having just finally played Bloodborne and being in a rough patch personally. It was extremely fitting for me at the time.

@@Tmanowns There's a solid interpretation out there that you, in the game, are also seriously blood addled and many if not all the people you see as beasts are nothing of the sort. "These things you're killing aren't beasts, they're people" - maybe Djura isn't the one with the strange worldview, maybe you, given everything about your existence in the waking world is being mediated by an eldritch horror from / that is The Moon, and he's had it done to him before, he knows something you don't. I mean, by that point in the game, you've drank the blood of half the town

If i was a world renowned musician and someone asked me who my inspiration was, i would say that i wished i could make music like this, songs that make my soul and mind finally match the feel of my body. the word "vibeing" is not enough to describe your works to me. Wow....uh....not gonna lie, I wouldn't really classify this as my kind of music ,but the pure talent in this needs to be praised. Everything from the dark, brooding, almost pulsing instrumental to the haunting and angelic sounding vocals. Definitely suits the tone for Bloodborne. I'll definitely have to listen to you guys when I play the game from now on. You've done something special here guys. Keep up the amazing work!

I've had this song on replay for two months now. This fucking song alone made me start a new Bloodborne playthrough, and I had a very different feeling fighting Gascoigne again with these lyrics in mind.

Just in case you care, the song is being sung from the perspective of a man named Father Gascoigne. He served as a hunter of beasts during a lycanthropy breakout in city in the Bloodborne world called Yarhnam. He has a wife and two daughters. Gascoigne himself fell victim to the plague and began transforming into a beast. He left his home so he wouldn't hurt his family, but his wife left to find him, leaving their two daughters alone amidst the plague of werewolves. Gascoigne, too far gone, killed his wife. The player character meets one of Gascoigne's daughters who is alone afraid, she asks for the player to find her mom who went looking for her dad. When the player finds Gascoigne, attacks and the player needs to put him down. The player then has the option to return to the little girl and try to find a safe place for her to stay. However, no matter what decisions the player makes in an attempt to save the little girl, she ends up getting killed in a horrible violent manner. "No one will save you now".

bigshot937 It's actually worse than that. If you talk to her and choose not to tell her about her mom out of kindness, she goes searching for her own her own, only to be eaten by a massive boar. Her sister goes insane with grief and commits suicide during the blood moon phase (only if you've talked with her after her sister dies). Also, their mother's brooch can be used as a pretty decent beast damaging gem, so Gascoigne was thinking about this eventuality even before he turned. Probably as a charm to ward off beasts (hunters are canonically a superstitious lot and for good reason).
Holy molten golden calf, that's tragic but sounds like an awesome game, makes me want to buy it.
WarLord Era Do it! The lore in this game is fantastic. The game itself is my favorite of the soulsborne games and I love the emphasis on aggression. You get hit, hit the enemy back.

I’ve been reading a book recently that reminds me a lot of this song. The main protagonist is a monster who uses a musical instrument to captivate people and steal their souls. I immediately thought this when I heard this. Regardless, I love the song.

Hey f7, a tad bit late, but I was listening to a bunch of Aviators and found this post. If you're still looking for good books to read, The Broken Empire Trilogy by Mark Lawrence is one of my current favorites in the fantasy genre. The world he creates is breathtaking and macabre. The characters and their struggles make you feel like you're right there in the mud with them. At least for me, it's one of those books that inspire you to sit down and make your own epic story to tell.
I appreciate the book names, any of yall read Shadowfall? I liked that a lot, probably my fav but a little tiny bit juvenile i guess, but its been a while; looking to get back into reading, particularly fantasy genre, i want to have fun!!!! Speaking of juvenile fantasy, def the seventh tower is like soo sooo good

This is my favorite song off the album, and for good reason! The instrumental is just wonderful, and the high notes on the vocals are beautifully suited to this song. And the story it tells is tragic and emotional, and it makes me really feel sorry for Father Gascoigne and his daughter.
