This is Father Gascoigne's song. He has a bandage wrapped over his head, covering his eyes, he remembers a familiar tune from the Tiny Music Box, he left his youngest daughter home, telling her to listen for her sister, then became a beast of the Hunt.

But it breaks my heart to say

Damn. This. Remember the girl who asked you to search for her mother and you find her dead, only left with the option to tell the girl or to keep quiet. This moment hit me hard and it's what I immediately thought about when hearing those lines.
Its about that
I regret to tell you, that regardless of your choices the family dies. The daughter, their mother, and you kill their father. In her rush and (panic?) the mother forgot the music box, and in the intensified hunt, Gascoine was too far in the hunt (frenzy?) to awaken and he killed her. While not confirmed it is implied to be the case. though after Mergo is killed the mothers corpse disappears. The alternative is that Viola (mother) may have been killed by the hunters that Gascoine butchered and it caused him to go into a frenzy, killing them.
The daughter dies regardless of what you do. It's heartbreaking how they designed it but also realistic; A child desperate to find her parents if you tell her nothing (gets eaten by a monster if I recall) and similar fate if you tell her, only you get to hear her breakdown. Assuming she didn't go directly into shock, it is real enough.
Assuming the character had a way of escorting her back, to the church or the hospital lodge, it would have been a nice touch... With lodge killing her as well and church if you don't deal with the hidden boss. Giving her a 1/4 chance of living. And as for escort, clearing all mobs on path otherwise she will die before arriving. Just tie her model to the character, holding her or piggyback and run to chosen destination. Not sure where you could push the story from there, maybe a surrogate daughter for the prostitute? Or the nun? I think the prostitute though, maybe if you do that, she manages to live even if she breaks down after having the child of (Oedon?)... Just a thought. Anyone? What do you think?

@@Sylinnilys something of note however, is upon death, you awaken from the dream, forgetting all that took place in the dream. At least that's what can be assumed by Myco's whining upon dying, and one other scene.
So, frankly would rather have her die earlier rather than later, so she can be out of the nightmare sooner.
Fun Fact: The Song is based on father gascoigne who left his daughter home while the mother was gone and became a beast.

Gascoigne was my favorite part of the base game, his fight felt so much more personal than the others, with the exception of ghermen. And no other boss fight stuck out to me in this way
The DLC fixed this with Maria and Ludwig
And the girl got killed by a giant pig
And his other daughter committed suicide after learning her sister died
I was playing Bloodborne and in Central Yharnam, near the ladder that goes down to a large enemy that has a path to Gascoigne's fight, there was a girl at the window. I gave the girl her mother's brooch. She started crying and the next time I loaded that area, she wasn't at the window anymore. What happened to her?
Ironic, I cam from watching a music video that was titled "Save Me" and this is "No One Will Save You"! XD
