- In this video, I show you a typical sea day for a solo cruiser. For me solo cruising is more about the time on the ocean than it is the port visits. I really enjoy the sea days onboard a cruise ship.
If you have never cruised before, you might think you'd get bored on days at sea on a cruise ship. Let's see if I can change your mind. I share one of my sea day adventures with you on Princess Cruises, Ruby Princess cruise ship.

If your solo, it's a great break from the world. You almost always can do what you want, when you want, except for the slightly earlier hours. Las Vegas used to be much better but since Covid alot of the late night places are still closed.
I’m going on my first “solo” on Sky Princess December 2-9…so excited!!!!
I just did a solo cruise for the first time half a month ago. I'm going to do a few things differently next time but I did enjoy it and would do it again. I was on the Marella Explorer 2 during sea days I found there was more I wanted to do in the evening than during the day but I made it work, I'd use the afternoon for naps or chilling out, they had some really good movie channels with recent releases at no extra cost, it wasn't on demand but I didn't care.
Sea days are the best part of cruising, they don't have all that chaotic boarding and off boardig and the atrium always has many events such as dance lessons and game shows. Also, sitting outside on deck is a lot cooler with the breeze from the ship moving

I took a cruise to Alaska for the first time in my life a few years ago. I wasnt even that interested in cruising but I was pleasantly surprised. I really enjoyed. I thought it would just be eating, drinking and sitting by the pool. What I didn't realise was how many activities, lectures, shows, talks, classes, dances, lessons happen all through the day. It is impossible to get bored.

That sounds awesome I’ve never been on a cruise myself and I’m in my 50s And it sounds kind of intriguing never had the interest to actually go on one but listening to your comment maybe I will just do that thank you
I've only been on one cruise and I honestly preferred the sea days. There's plenty to do on board and I love the water views, walking, entertainment etc...The ports mostly were too touristy for me - didn't care much for them. Usually wasn't worth the hassle of disembarking and reembarking, so I highly enjoyed this video featuring days at sea!

I always wondered about “the fascination” of cruising - and can see, one can tailor the experience to suit themselves. I think, like you showed, my time would be spent at daybreak and sundown, avoiding the crowds on the sea days. Enjoy your travels.

My favorite days on a cruise are sea days. I love being out in the middle of the ocean and seeing nothing but water. At night, if skies are clear, millions of stars are looking down at you. It’s really beautiful! Thanks for a great post!

OMG, i love solo cruising & sea days. Solo cruising is my down time from a hectic life.
I read, lounge by the pools, go to the art auctions & other things I enjoy aboard a ship.
I have great meals & sometimes I'll eat in my cabin while enjoying a good movie.
For me, solo cruising & sea days are awesome.

I love being on the ship alone etc. I love disconnecting. I've done 3 cruises, 2 alone, 1 with an acquaintance and I prefer being alone.

Totally agree, the wake view from the fantail is one of the best, only surpassed by being up on deck on a moonless night, darken ship. The stars out in the middle of the ocean then are insane!
Yeah, absolutely. These cruise ships don't darken but you still get some good night skies
No matter how smooth the seas the stars are always moving.
I took my first cruise to Alaska in April, it was the best experience, so blown away of entertainment. The thing is you can just go to one place to the next entertainment. Already setting up for next trip to Europe on NCL. Truly enjoy every moment of it.

Great post. I also like sea days as long as there are not too many of them in a row. I have never had any problem finding things to do to pass the time. I really like the buffet on Princess as they have so many selections for all three meals. What I do NOT like about Princess is that the buffet is the ONLY place on the ship to get your free coffee outside of meals. If you are cruising alone, I like that Princess will seat you with people rather than eating alone.

Haha..yeah it's definitely different than what we are use to!
The best part of a ship is being out in the water. Doing floats and hitting ports was fun, but man I would spend hours down below looking out of the hangar, or down in the well deck with the aft open or on a catwalk, just watching the ocean as we steamed along. Seeing commercial ships or another part of the group would pop up, dolphins, trash, whales or just the wake of the ship. I know there's stuff to do on a cruise ship, but just enjoy the ocean and the humility it brings when you realize that even the vessel you're on is a speck on a blue canvas.
Yeah, the being in the middle of the ocean really is a great experience by itself.

I just found your channel today and am loving it so Merry Christmas to me :LOL! Just completed my first solo travel last month and it was a cruise out of Boston to Bermuda. I loved it and loved the days at sea especially. It is so nice to do whatever you want whenever you want. I had a balcony cabin on that one but just booked my first solo cabin cruise to try next. Thanks for all the feedback on solo travel. Never thought I would be doing it but am really liking it!

I solo cruised all through my late 20s and early 30s. The best part is that the ship groups you with other solo cruisers , so you end up meeting so many people.

This big ships don't move very much, but I definitely get not going if you're highly susceptible. There is nothing worse than sea sickness.

After seeing this, I know I could never be bored on a cruise ship. For weeks, even months. Heck, even a deck chair with a good book on a cloudy day beats cold, wet, wintery Ohio. I'd be out walking every bit of the ship I could access. Now to talk my husband into it, or I just might have to take a solo trip!

Love it. I like the format of a chill day at sea tour. I've only sailed Royal Caribbean but now that I'm Diamond, Princess is my top choice for trying a new line.

That's when I'd explore the ship - early mornings! And walk, walk, walk, yes indeed. And the pool - laps, laps, laps! Hard to believe lots of folks don't do that early am, but glad! Is the food you showed available 24/7. I didn't see lobster. Or snow crab. Sometimes I get really cold, and nothing but hot tea will do. Well, maybe lobster. Or snow crab. Oooo...I used to work at Estee Lauder, in the Clinique division. Awww, what a nice ceremony; so nice of him to invite you! I searched and searched the event list - no lobster. Or snow crab. Omg he's on a cruise eating a chili dog when he could be having lobster! Or snow crab! I forgive you Kevin. You did do a lot of walking. Maybe you do pool laps. And you did show us the aft and the rainbow. So it's all good. So very good to see you!
The food isn't available 24/7 but there is food that is available 24/7. There is lots of lobster. I didn't show the main dining room or the specialty dining.
@@30AndAWakeUp Well, if I ever go on a cruise, that's where I can be found. Walking, pool lapping, and lobster/crabbing. Shower and repeat. Oh, and star gazing. I'll bet it's amazing on the ocean. Meanwhile, living vicariously through you!

Great show! I just got off an 8 night cruise on celebrity solstice yesterday. The boat was only half full. The best part of cruising is you can do as much or as little as you want to do. The food was really good as well as the entertainment. I’m headed to Thailand for a month in January. Can’t wait!

It's amazing you're able to do this with cruise ship wifi! We're going through the Panama Canal in a few weeks for the 2nd time, it doesn't get old. Great video.

Loved this video! I usually watch another cruise channel, but I like that you featured Princess, as not many do. I love sea days! In fact, I plan my next cruise from Los Angeles to Hawaii, which is almost all sea days, about 10.

Kevin, glad to see the new series on cruise travel. Tho I’m not interested in doing a cruise, I love the way you create and produce you videos. I am interested in the practical issues of trying to stay on a ship for a year. I know you will tell us more about the nuts and bolts of the figuring out how. Great video. We took the Princess Grand from San Francisco to Hawaii and back and it looks like the same ship layout as yours. If I remember right, 3 laps = ~ 1 mile. Beautiful ships. We attended some of the Art talks as well. Learned much… Disappointed the jacuzzis did not stay open at night when we finally wound down and went looking for one to relax in. There is much to do… I even did a photography workshop.
Very very cool. I think the jacuzzis are open all night on here. I haven't seen them closed.
