    I love these build videos - nicely done, and they must take much faffing around to film them.
    Great looking bike - love the colour!
    Looking forward to seeing it in action and getting your thoughts on how it rides.

      Cheers Mick... As you can probably tell this was only edited highlights, it would be interesting to do a complete build and see how long it really takes. It's done about 100 miles so far and rides really nicely👍Big tyre comfort...

    I almost skipped past this build video.. Glad I didn’t. Simplistic, smooth, straight foreword build video. I really like the audio ratios a nice balance between the build sounds and added music which by itself wasn’t an over powering distraction like I’ve found on some other channels.
    The ride and commentary at the end was a nice wrap up!

    I really enjoyed this film as i am thinking of buying a complete Camino from Alpkit as i have just started gravel riding. Cant decide on frame size as i am 5ft 9 or whether to go 1 x or 2 x Tiagra. Happy cycling. 😁

    • @WheelersAtLarge
      @WheelersAtLarge  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm about the same height and went for medium with a 100mm stem, I do find it a bit upright but I don't mind that as it comfy on long rides and works well on rough terrain. Definitely an adventure bike more than a gravel racer. Mine is 1x and in a group sometimes the steps between gears is annoying but otherwise okay. Cheers for commenting Jonathan.

  • @trevorfox5703

    What an AWESOME frame MW. You pulled the trigger in the right direction on that one IMHO. The option for racks and panniers front and back is an option that so many modern cycle tourists are missing the trick with.
    I can see you pulling the trigger on some Tubus racks and Ortlieb pannier bags next.. and then needing a triple set to get you up the hills! It's a great build as it is. Don't tell me where you got the frame from, or my trigger might be pulled! :)
    My 26" wheeled triple set touring bike with drop bars, bar end friction shifters, is running like a dream. I should of built it sooner. It's like riding an armchair up the hills.... or at least as close as you can get to riding an armchair up a hill! :) ...and it's great fun using friction shifting.

      Yep, the bag with mounting bolts in was pretty heavy, I think there's 23 mounting points 👍 We might do a little bike packing adventure at the weekend (weather dependant) though Julie doesn't know yet... Ah! She might do now😂😂😂
      Can't believe how comfy it is.
      The Giant situation is getting sorted and I think this will be the perfect partner bike.

    • @trevorfox5703
      @trevorfox5703 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WheelersAtLarge In the past I have replaced my frame mounting bolts with titanium ones. They're a bit lighter and don't rust. Even though I had not greased the titanium bolts before putting them into my aluminum frame, I have never had an issue with them seizing into the frame. Same aluminum frame for 20 years, same titanium bolts for 10 years!
      I would only recommend titanium bolts for mounting bottles, racks and nothing else. Stems etc are a no no!

      Cheers for the comment Shane👍I've used this converter on several bikes now, it's a good stop gap solution while saving up for new hydraulic levers. I do have a Giant computer/GoPro out front mount for it but I'm quite happy with this setup for now as I may fit a bar bag.

    Do you think the Camino would make a decent audax bike, in addition to its gravel use? I am thinking GRX 2x and obviously switching tyres or wheelsets according to the terrain.

    • @WheelersAtLarge
      @WheelersAtLarge  10 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@paule4 I've never ridden further than 200k so here's what I know, it's certainly proved comfortable so great for long rides. Also good clearance for mudguards. Both of these things seem to be audax favourites and it also has plenty of rack mount options too. When riding in a group it doesn't feel slow so with the right setup I'm sure it would be efficient. That said, I believe the newer versions have geometry more setup for gravel and adventure so I'm not sure how that would equate to handling on the road but again could be tweaked with the stem and bar combo.

    great vid! seriously considering buying this bike. How do you find the pronounced welding points...aesthetically I mean. Also, how you finding the SRAM double tap system? Never used them before and wondering how they compare with GRX, which won't be available with this bike until 2023! Thanks

    • @WheelersAtLarge
      @WheelersAtLarge  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Cheers Iain👍 The welds are pretty good so I don't think about them. My main concern was that it would ride nicely, and it really does. SRAM double tap is fine, takes few rides to get used to it. My Giant has GRX and I have no trouble swapping between the bikes and they both work. When I built this I had 10 speed Rival and a GX mech from an old bike to get it going but have since upgraded to an 11 speed Rival shifter and an Apex 11 speed mech which was a good upgrade.
