  • In this video I’ll show you how to easily replace the fly screen mesh to an aluminium sliding security door, renewing your insect mesh or fly screens is quick and easy, I used a budget option fibreglass mesh and replaced the spline. during the video I made a mistake, probably a common one - but I show you how to correct it and end up with a great looking end product.
    Installing new fly wire to a door or window is cheap, luckily because the kids and kitten manage to damage them.

    I searched a few videos on fitting fly screen, this is the best with a few good tips, like fit small sections to hold the screen in plc=ace, excellent.

    I was about to borrow cash to get someone else to come and do this for me but after finding your video I'm going to give it a go myself! Hope this works similarly to installing pet mesh as my dog is the culprit in destroying the previous mesh!
    Thank you!

      @@InspireDIY Your videos REALLY make a difference. My rental agency would have charged me a fortune to replace this. I needed a $15 clothes dryer door changed a few years ago and they charged my landlord $250. The screen from my screen door, had a few holes accidentally melted the screen, a few years ago, when my makeup mirror, was sitting at the wrong angle, near the door and burnt holes in the mesh...(couldn't believe it) Now my apartment is going on the market in the next few days. So I knew I had to get and fix this darn door. Your great description on the removing sliding door video and clear video, made it all more simple than I could have imagined. When guys like you, share info like this, people like me, just want to give you a high five, with gratitude. :)

    Thanks Kent. Returned home after trip away to find all our screens need replacing. How is that you may ask. Don't. I just got the gear to replace the screens and now your video has removed the remaining queries I had. I noticed that you laid the door on some 2x4s; now that's another idea for avoiding scratches to the door frames. I think I'll grab some I have in the shed to replicate that part of your process.
    The next couple of days I have 5 doors and one window screen to replace. Now looking forward to it a lot more than I would have. Cheers mate.

      @@InspireDIY I have an update: replaced 3 x security door screens today. Somehow I managed to remove the doors from their tracks without breaking chunks off the wheels. It was tricky as the whole lot suffered from heavy rust on those screw heads.
      I did lubricate all the lock mechanism and upper and lower wheels and cleaned out the tracks. Wife was happy. I have another three to go, but time is what being retired is all about.
      Thanks again for all the inspiration Kent.

    Great video & thanks for sharing your knowledge! I was going to buy all that I needed to replace mesh on one of our fly screens and noticed there is a lock guard riveted into frame over the mesh and not sure how to remove that guard plate/get around it, any advice will be a great help! Thanks

    Hey mate, thanks for the video, was super helpful and am keen to give this a go! Cats have been ruthless on our back screen. Any tips on how to tackle a security screen with one of those plastic guard things near the lock?

    • @InspireDIY
      @InspireDIY  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey loz0za, great question mate, that’s an easy one …the security shield thingy is only held in place by the door handle, unscrew and remove both the handle and shield before installing your new mesh👌 best of luck, Kent
