Unfortunately unless they’re fan written we will never get another Awdry penned railway series story and with how Thomas is now with all engines go, we won’t get the narrow gauge engines ever again 😞😞😞
To go along with the part about how the internal combustion engine is great for being able to just turn a key and go There is a story I heard where in the US, the Union Pacific was having an early diesel switcher do a demonstration. So they gathered the shop crews and told each crew to go get their engines ready and come back to the meeting spot when done. (One crew had the diesel and the rest had steam switchers) They all went to go get the engines prepped and the guys with the diesel engine went off got the engine started and ready, went and made breakfast and did other stuff. When everyone got back to the meeting spot the guys with the diesel said handed everyone food and said that they had their engine ready hours ago so they made breakfast in the mean time
Unfortunately not all diesels require a key to turn and make them go we have a lot of diesels at the museum that I volunteer at that don't have a key to turn to make them go or a starting handle so the only way to start them is to bump start them. Which sometimes can take a while. Not as long as a steam loco mind you but long enough when you have stuff to do.
Best of luck for this weekend and congrats on passing 60k! Lawrie my guy, I don't have an issue with you using my footage at 4:30, I'd have sent the original file, but do let me know or pop a credit in the corner as you do for others if that's alright. :) See you again at Corris or TR again in future I'm sure.
Lawrie, the Talyllyn Railway has forgotten about the No.5 engine Midlander which is a diesel engine too. Why did the railway not include Midlander for the Baguley Bash event?
@@thorpeyvid, Midlander is still having problems? I thought the rebuild on the No. 5 engine of the Talyllyn Railway would had fixed it permanently but I understand that everything must be repaired properly. Especially, if anything had a major rebuild many years ago.
Congrats on 60k, onward and upward. Is the loco at 40 seconds in losing grip up the incline causing the juddering or is it the video causing that? I do enjoy listening to Alf clattering along the line, I don't care how slow it is. A shame that it's a 9 hour round trip or I'd have come along.
It's a real shame that I cannot attend as the diesels would have been right up my street. Hopefully they offer a similar event on another date with more notice, so I don't entertain the idea of jumping in the car at quarter to 5 in the morning, assuming i could find a babysitter at such short notice.
Ok Lawrie I know this is Diesels at Talyllyn but I can't watch any video of the Welsh railways without thinking of Ivor😉👌👍. th-cam.com/video/8NwGRvbwQe0/w-d-xo.html
Man, Alf is such a beautiful machine. I just love the more industrial looking machines, with all the thought put into function.
Congratulations on your 60K milestone Lawrie! I hope that you have a great time at the Talyllyn.
Don't forget that talyllyn is also one of the birth placed of thomas and friends
Nothing makes me happier than a new Lawrie video. :) Loco time
2:14 I wonder if the diesels on the Skarloey railway could have more birthday stories written about them in future? Just a thought. 😊

Awesome.
Would love to meet this happy guy in n real life.
Greetings & congratulations to 60k.
Been here for a long time and love your videos.
Will be there, planning to play with some little industrial engines on the garden railway, really looking forward to seeing you. Kes
Nice video! Unfortunately I won’t be there but I hope you enjoy it! It sounds like a good event!
Damm I just found this channel and clicked to see other videos from another and saw you uploaded 3 mins ago, great vid
Hope you enjoy it!
Congrats on the 60k and thank you for the amazing content. Going to be a great day at Talyllyn.

Nice video mate, best wishes from the midlands as always. 🚂
Congratulations Lawrie on your great achievement .🎉
UK narrow gauge is amazing. Many different types of locomotives to make Great OC’s out of, which I did.
Skarloey,Rehneas, peter sam, sir handel, Duke, Rusty,
Rest in peace lawn mower. Congratulations on 60k
Happy 60k subscribers
You need to venture the shed at fairbourner, who have some steam and some deisel loco's.
This year is a centenary year for diesel preservation as it has be five centenarys of diesel preservation in the UK large or small.
I'm surprised a re gauging process could be so successful, I wonder if it would work the same with standard gauge ?
so if your in Wales this weekend are you going to do velocity 2 at zipworld in Bethesda 😉👍

If only I weren't literally an ocean away I'd be there yesterday
Floreat Vapor! Floreat Diselianae! Long live these tiny titans of the trails, regardless of their source of power!

It's currently out of service. Hence why it's not included
Midlander will be on display needing some maintenance on the gearbox so unable to run
@@lmmI see. Plus, I understand.

When all the railways steam enginges are back please do review on them as well
Is Alf running well?

It's a very old clip. It's just not enjoying being at 30fps!
I wish I lived in the uk so I could Come
When did diesels first see service in Wales?
What’s the smaller diesel called without the cab
Alf? The one I've reviewed before?
Id love to be there but unfortunately railway duties call on the sklr
What about Midlander?
It's out of traffic at the moment
Did mine eyes deceive me, or was there a miniature steamer on one of those wagons being lugged around by the diesels?
It's a real shame that I cannot attend as the diesels would have been right up my street. 😱no way
And where is your loco?
Sat at the MSLR!

GCR diesel Gala clash
You could do that Sunday?
So, for 100k, would you celebrate by coming to the Corris and riding on the "other" No.11, Vlad?
