    ABOUT DANNY
    -----------------------
    Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
    I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
    On TH-cam and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
    Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
    I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

    Getting back onto a real golf course, chipping was the thing I was finding slightly frustrating. I watched your video on Saturday morning just before heading out to play and it was immediately helpful - including (perhaps especially) on 40-50 yard pitch shots. Thank you - it really was a game changer for me!

    Danny your latest string of videos demonstrating the "Ground up" approach have really been a game changer for me. Your approach has given me the "hidden" reference point to build my swing. It works brilliantly. You would not believe how this has effected my confidence, composure and competence. Its taken a good 5 shots off a 9 hole round. After decades of embarrassments I am keen to keep improving my game. MANY THANKS TO YOU DANNY

    This idea of being connected is massively relevant in a full swing as well. Love the idea of the turn starts from the ground up

      100%. and putting as well! Have been struggled chipping for a long time and, it's been all I practice for a year+. Finally got a clue watching a video of Sergio chipping and noticed how connected he was and how he controlled it with his body. Keeping connected has made a huge difference. This works! (I'm in the Stricker/Day camp of minimal wrist action).

    Just wanted to say to say thanks Danny. I have been using your videos over the last couple of years and it has really helped my driving, in particular, but also my general understanding of the mechanics of my swing. That translates to much more confidence on the course and better scores. Keep up the good work!

    Dear Danny,
    Thank you for this great lesson. I practiced this a bit before my round today. I kept trying to do the same thing during my round. Great stuff! I shot an 84 (I’m an 18 handicap, so 84 is good for me.). What I really like about your lessons is that they are easy to incorporate and don’t result in unraveling something else.
    Thank you again,

    I've watched dozens of instructional videos as my game from 40 yards and in has eroded over the past 3-4 seasons. I got so bad that I started chipping with one hand only because I was much better that way! TBH, I'm quite good at it, but it's embarrassing. THIS bottom-up technique has absolutely changed my game. I still need to work a lot on distance control and trajectory, but I'm back to chipping with two hands. Thanks for the lesson and for producing the best instructional videos on the net!

      Thanks Danny, I have been working on something like this for weeks in my garage with practice balls, now it makes sense. The one thing is keep elbows clamped to your sides so they don't escape, no wrists..

      Many thanks

    I would add to this by keeping more weight distribution on the left. But yes, on a small chip and run or pitch starting from the bottom up adds stability and consistency to the strike quality! Nice lesson Danny! Thanks.

    I committed to the "jar lid" swing thought today out on the course and it was transformative. I have never chipped and pitched the golf ball better. Feeling that athletic tension in my lower body as I screwed and unscrewed that jar lid made all the difference. My friends got tired of me yelling "Danny Maude you magnificent bastard!" as I kept pitching the ball within 5 feet of the hole and following up with a 1 putt. Thank you!

    Love your chipping tip to use your legs/body. Do you recommend using a 60 degree wedge for all chips? I use my 59 degree wedge for shots in which are 6 feet or less from where I am chipping from. I use my 9 iron or pitching wedge for chips that have a longer way to run to the cup. That works for me.

    Thanks so much for this lesson, Danny! It helped immensely. I hit a bunch of balls on my back yard chipping course in Ohio, and using your bottom-to-top swing, was making one solid strike after another, dropping ball after ball around the target (a whirligig). It's like unscrewing the lid on a jar, right? Unscrew the lid, screw it back on,. Open it, close it.. Open it, close it. I kept that image in my mind. And keep your trail arm tucked close to your body. I can't wait to do this on a practice green and then the golf course. Chipping has been the worst part of my game. It will be so no more, thanks to you.

  • @globetrotter8556
    @globetrotter8556 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I just figure this out in the last few rounds recently to control the distance and landing spot with much more consistency than using the arms and hands, especially for those short delicate shots. Now can I apply the same principle to my driver? Can’t wait to find out.

  • @chuckholroyd7458
    @chuckholroyd7458 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is excellent teaching !
    I do have to say I only improved when adopting these techniques is when I KEPT THE CLUB AS LOW AS POSSIBLE on the (shortish) backswing.
    That made the biggest difference because then I could actually brush the grass and find the bottom of my chip arc. Once you can find the bottom of your chipping motion, you will start chipping well. At least I did, and it has not been a trivial improvement.

    Great video -easy to follow and execute Danny. The chips on steep downhill slopes are the killers for me as well as those that are literally 3-4 inches off the green but in long grass, ball buried - how on earth do you control distance on those?

    • @DanielMaude
      @DanielMaude  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      with great difficulty. Whenever we are coming out of rough its not possible to 100% guarantee the strike so it's unpredictable. Technique wise make sure you are always swinging down the slope

    I know this has been out for awhile but i watched it a few days ago and then played a round the next day. I went to the chipping green before i played and a fellow was over there cleaning balls off to have a little practice. I asked if it was OK for me to join him for a few minutes. He obliged. I tried this method a few times. All 3 times got close to the pin i was aiming at. I told him good luck as i left and he said " chip one in for me" 😂😂😂 It made my day. I had a great round. Didn't chip 1 in but it did really help me with my consistency around the greens.

    Sounds like another great drill i need to work on, Danny. Today will be my first time playing golf with my son since Covid took away our beautiful lady. Looking forward to apply your tips and enjoy the game again. Thank you for your great video lessons! 🙏👍👍

    Great video as always Danny. The pro at my club taught me a simple drill which complements this and that is to concentrate on moving the club head, hands and hips at the same speed if that makes sense - perhaps in unison is a better way to describe it. That rotate the body as you describe and creates a similar effect. Made a huge difference to my chipping. Keep it coming!

    Well, I thought I was the only one. Reading several comments below, my chipping usually is the achilles heel of my game as well. I'm so uptight when I have to hit a difficult chip. I'd be much closer to the pin with a full wedge into the green. I'm appreciative that you have several videos on chipping, because I need all the help I can get performing this critical scoring shot. Brilliant instruction, as always, Danny! (Must feel nice to be back out on the course. Your course looks in great shape!) Have a Happy Easter with the family!

    Awesome, now get where my problem comes from. I was always told to keep the body still and hence become totally hands and arms. Your previous drill has sorted out my driving so now I can work on the short game, where I lose most shots. Many thanks Danny.

    I struggled with my short game for years. Couldn’t get below 14. I was shown a very similar technique by my club pro.
    I worked on it over lockdown. I now have a consistent short game and am down to 8. More importantly, I now have a confidence around the greens and get up and down,on average, 3-4 times a round.

    I think this does a much better job oof explaining the relationship of the body turn to the arm swing than Dave Pelz did in the Short Game Bible. I tried hard to follow his technique but I never understood how I was supposed to use the body vs. the arms. This is very compatible with the Pelz method, but explains it much better.

    Excellent drill. I was taught to use my gap wedge, with a forward press, like a putter around the greens. That will work sometimes, but isn’t consistent. I have been watching your short games videos, and you make it look sooooo easy. So frustrating to chunk a chip after an awesome drive. I’ll keep trying. Happy Easter
