Now this is quality content.I have an old Pro Mac 55 that I picked up for $5 at a yard sale and went to work on it.All the parts were there except the bar and chain.I would have gotten a bigger one for it anyway.I've always had good luck with these ancient Mac chainsaws and this was no exception.I've been working the hell out of this thing for over 30 years now and if you maintain it right it purrs. No plastic fuel tank on this thing.Sweet.Bill Conwell
I always see folks asking "what are the carburetor settings?" and the important thing is as you demonstrated they are baselines- they need to be tweaked and adjusted as you did under load and when warm. And you are correct in that seal leaks will make them difficult to get to run consistently! Rock on...
Damn, I've been missing your content! Love your work. I'm either spitting out coffee, shooting food out across the room, or just wetting my pants, while watching you do your thing!! LOL
A year ago, my local fire department threw one of these old pro mac 700 in the dumpster. I of course grabbed it. New fuel, and some carb tuning and it’s the best running saw I have. My go to every time because of its reliability and excellent power. Only difference is I don’t think mine has a muffler like yours. In fact, I don’t think it really has a muffler at all
I'm about to buy a 700 same model as that. Learned a lot from this video. And man, you are hilarious. I spit out my coffee twice watching this. I will subscribe.
I think she's sucking bar oil out of the 4 crankcase bolts inside the oil tank just rebuilt my 700 and watched bellhopper assemble one, take out the case bolts and motoseal them and what's probably left of the 4 o-rings lol!
nice work! i have old macs too and they are good saws like anything vintage built in the USA. A person needs to have a good ability with small 2 stroke engines though; beginners need not apply; keep it up!
@@toocheaptosmoke Yeah its weird...I'm not sure exactly why but people are spending more on about everything. Bad for us cheapskates to buy or try to find FREE stuff anymore. But good time to profit on old junk!
If u want some tips on that mac go to Tinmans saws channel. He does a build on one from start to finish. Impressive seeing it run I think a 32 or 36inch bar. Either way we now know how to clear the shop of any bugs! Just go way way heavy on erl! 👌mint!
I would take an early 90s or older model over any consumer grade saw (or any other gas appliance) being made today. It's all junk not designed to be serviced. Use it till the fuels lines or anything else fails and chuck her in the trash.
I have good luck with the Macs and the neighborhood will love it .
Haha, when you run a Mac, everybody listens!
I still enjoy every time I start my 7-10 auto after many years
As Peg said, this show goes best with coffee and morning.
You’ve inspired me to save lots of old stuff, sleds, saws, and whatever else is free 99
That's awesome to hear!
Always use a brush to clean the air filters, compressed air blows the filament out.
Nice run-through on the 700. Solid saw!

For sure! These old saw also seem to like a winter and a summer tune, gotta keep 'em running crisp!
P
Absolutely hilarious watching you work with these saws! Happy to see you have another McCulloch, especially the 700! Good times
Haha, thanks man!

That sounds like it could very well be. 👍

Are you gonna port the 700!!!?
Mine has been and is a monster👍
Got two myself.....decent saw
Nice, I wouldn't mind picking up an 800 sometime.
i use brake cleaner to clean saw filters. cleans em up like new and so far have never had issues
Good to hear, that stuff can be harsh on some materials

Thanks! Yup, the older stuff was at least made with some intention of it being repairable, not like the plastic disposable stuff now...
Great vid, ty
Thanks for watching!
Great video, thanks!!
Thanks for watching!
that ones got power be nice on a chainsaw mill attachment
Would be a good saw for that
You are supposed to hold the throttle wide open when doing compression test.
Nice video it was enjoyable
I had the throttle lock on, not quite wide open but usually good enough. Thanks for watching
13:53 Really ! Apparently...
You dont have enough saws vinny 🤣
Been wanting to get my hands on a 700. People are paying stupid money for them, in my opinion. I did grab a Mac 3-10 DSP recently to play around with.
Pretty crazy what random items are bringing these days

Oh my gosh a real gas can eye gazum

Way too many modern products are designed that way :(
9:48 seriously ?
【from Hipa】are you interested in testing my chains? Thanks.
ETHANOL FUEL SUCKS!!. when I go up snowmobiling upstate I bring 15 gallons of REAL fuel home. You know the stuff that doesn't ruin your small engines
Yup, it really helps on stuff like saws that sit for long periods.
